Sanchi's speech is without any semblance of thought. Her belief that Anandi's dressing is not modern, may apply in a metro, but how can she utter these words in a small village like Jaitser? Why is she asking Anandi to look beyond Jaitser, when Anandi doesn't need to? Its not like Anandi is shifting to Mumbai. Or does she expect Anandi to change her way of life for herself, that too when her brother likes Anandi in her rural avatar? Anandi is marrying Shiv & she has managed to win his and the elders' hearts by being herself. I don't understand why Sanchi's expectations seem to be as if Anandi is her groom? I fail to get her point. In fact, Sanchi is the one who looks out of place with her clothes in the village, not Anandi. Maybe she should do something to fit in the village.
Secondly, she is completely unrealistic. If she is so "modern", why is she taking away her brother's right of choosing a bride for himself? What in god's name does she mean by saying that she should have the right to choose Shiv's bride. Not himself or even his parents/grand parent, but lil sis?
Third, I don't understand how and where she got the notion that Anandi is a conniving female with ulterior motives? Pray, is she talking about the motive of making her brother happy? 😕 Anandi has done nothing and this female has gone bonkers! How can she be this rude to a person she has just met? Has she not any manners? Or how to speak in public. Or how to speak generally. She needs to be in therapy.
Fourth, her criteria for choosing a bride for her brother seem to be
1. modern name (how Ashima/Sanchi is more modern than Anandi, wow that's something to research about)
2. Modern clothes
3. Whether she watches movies
4. She should not use her own hands while washing mud
- No importance to character/strength/beauty/grace/caring/respect for elders, etc
Looking at all of the above, now we know why Shiv has chosen his own bride.
I am also most disappointed in the Shekhar family. Thy should have pulled the reigns long before. How could they give all their attention and love to their sons and not the daughter. Or maybe they gave too much of it, without any discipline. Either ways, no parent should allow such rude/rowdy/loud behavior without valid cause. They must bring her to the right path, before its too late. Because her immaturity is not going to cause any rift between Shiv & Anandi. Its going to create problems for her in the future. Unless she is going to marry an non-Indian, its going to be tough for her to adjust to her in-laws/husband in future. She may marry in a "modern" family (whatever that means), but her inflexibility, negative attitude and rude nature will surely be a trouble for any married life.
