Yeh kya baat hui, I just started reading and story khatam!!😲😉

Prologue

It was better said than done.

Today again they were on the sets of the most popular tv serial, "Drashti hui Gurumeet ki pyaari"

The serial was very popular but the channel n which it was shown was under waters, it was going under lose and therefore was going off-air.

Now about the serial, the main leads are the famous actor, "Maan Singh Khurana" better known as MSK, he was hot and his presence made humidity levels high J he was the most popular male actor of this time; the other main lead was "Geet Handa" the diva, the most beautiful actress, her eyes were large hazel hues emitting affection, the boys die to get her one glance, she was many times more popular than any typical bahu type actress, she was an epitome of beauty and grace.

Now about the serial, MSK played Gurumeet in the serial, a rude and arrogant business tycoon whereas Geet played a role of a brave village girl who acted as a magnet to problems.

It has been a year since the serial has gone on floor, and now it has to end soon may be in next six months.

The past

The director and the producer were held with a story which was mind blowing a woman oriented story.

They were worried as many actors have turned the offer of the main lead as the story was about a girl Drashti the name of the serial was thought to be "Drashti hui sabse praayi" the main lead role of the girl was also not yet decided, all the leading actresses were either too old or did not have the innocent bold look they needed. Only actress that could suit the role was Geet Handa, but she was still busy with her on air serial "Mil Gaye Dil"

Finally they were able to get appointment with Geet Handa

At her place,

Dir: Madam did you like the story

G: its ok (with attitude)

Pro: madam you will get the main lead, and the serial is about this girl Drashti

G: I will think over it, who is the main lead?

Dir: wo actually

Pro: madam actually

G: no one is agreeing for it (laughed)

Dir: we will try some newcomer

G: new comer

Pro: with your consent madam

G: why newcomer? Try some established actor

Dir: we have tried many

G: and no one agreed for this role, tell me one reason for someone to agree with such non existing role

Pro: wo

G: take my suggestion and first change the name of the serial and then add some spice in the main lead

Dir: fabulous madam it is very nice suggestion

Pro: so you agree madam for the role

G: first tell me who agrees for the main lead then I will think

Dir: ok madam we will soon be here

After a week

They made changes in the script and also changed the name to "Drashti hui Gurumeet ki pyaari" giving equal importance to both the characters

They talked to MSK for the role and after some attitude he agreed

Geet and MSK have never worked together, but the scene was not so, the thing was that both have started their career together with a music album a few years back, they at that time had a bitter fight, so they pledged not to ever work together.

Their respective secretaries knew this and asked the producers to keep it secret that they have both signed the serial, once the serial goes on floor an dthey have shot even for one day,they being hard core professional will not back out

So it was done Geet did not know that MSK was main lead as his entry was to be in later stage say after a week and in the beginning she has to work with Dev. And MSK had no intial shooting scenes with the main actress so he did not bother much about it.

After a month

Finally the promos were out and to the shock of their lives both Maan and Geet almost screwed their respective secretaries.

First day shoot together

G: (in disgust) Secretary, are we to shoot today with that Mr. I am too perfect?

S: (softly) madam today's scene is that Drashti runs from the goons and collides with Gurumeet (he intentionally avoided using real names)

G: very smart way to put the scene, but you did not answer my question

S: we are here to work Madam, on the sets he is only Gurumeet not Ma'

G: you are right, give me today's scene

In the cubicle next to her was other cubical, MSK's whatever they talked was clearly heard by him and his secretary

M: you heard secretary, what that little baggage just said

Geet frowned hearing her being called little baggage and shouted

G: oye Mr. Attitude mind your language, or

M (shouts): or what will you do, I will say whatever I want to say, I never object when you give me stupid names

G (sarcastically): because you are stupid, so why will you say anything

M (sarcastically): oh, someone is in her la la land, imagining things, you chit

G: you dusht danav

M: you jhalli

G: you khadoos Khurana

M: you Panda Handa

G: you '

M: you'

By now they were face to face ready to pounce on each other, their eyes emitting fire

Fight continues'..

As and when they had scenes together they were at a fight, but their on screen chemistry was marvelous, whenever they came together on screen the fan mails soared, viewers went ga ga on their appearance, and no one but the people on the sets knew the tension that existed between the two.

Fans demanded more and more scenes of them together

The initial scenes that were together were mostly the scenes portraying their fight of wills and as they already had been fighting on the sets,

On the sets of the scene where Gurumeet saves Drashti and were to lift her

G: dialogues

M: scene

Both give each other if looks could kill looks.

As they both read the scene they were alarmed

G&M: what is this? (shouting)

The director made a mental smack and looked helplessly at the producer

Dir: sir wo

G: he wil carry me,

Pro: yes

G: are you mad? (shouting)

M: think about me, Mr. Dir, I will break my spinal cord she must be very heavy

G: you called me fat

M: did I? (smirking)

G: you better watch your words

M: already feeling hot by the thought that I will hold you

G: in your dreams, I loath your touch

M: as if I like it, it pricks my hand to touch you

G: oh, so feminine hands you have

M: mind you

G: first mind yourself,

M: jungle billi

G: urban serpent

M: you

G: you

Well some how the shoot started, MSK was to emerge from the river cradling Geet, he had to be shirtless, he felt a little odd to hold her like that, he said

M: why do I have to be shirtless

Dir: wo sir it's the fashion now a days on tv, viewer like watching shirtless hero, girls go gg ga over it and this helps increasing TRP

G: someone's feeling all conscious

He did not say anything came dangerously near her and leaned down as if to pick the glass from a table nearby, and whispered

M: Geet, you never know who will feel more conscious when the shoot starts,

Geet was startled by this and went speech less.

And as the shoot went Maan intentionally gave retakes, upto 25, and by that time Geet was too exhausted by the way he picked her up and dropped her down,

When the shoot finally ended Maan winked at her and she just smiled remembering all the good times when they were together known as famous lovebirds in their academy

Maan too sighed and nodded absently but that love is history, now there is only hatred between us

In the coming days'.

As the shootings proceeded, Maanet became very uncomfortable, as their on screen chemistry was spontaneous and flawless the demand for their intimate scenes increased. But this idi not do any good to them, as weeks turned to months and as this year ended, they have stopped fighting and acted with involving any emotions, they have become hard core professional, the director and producer were now relived as the war was off, but the coldness remained.

The present

Today again they were at the sets, a year has passed and Maaneet relationship has not improved, neither did they fight nor did they talk.

G: dialogues

M: scene

Now both don't give each their dragger looks, they hardly acknowledge each other now

Slowly they went through the scene, it had the scene where Gurumeet enters the house at Amritsar where Drashti is living at present, he comes in disguise of a driver and she recognizes him when he tries to hide from her

Maaneet after reading the scene silently looked at each other, some pain crossed their eyes but they hid it after all they were master actors.

The scene went well the shooting went flawless, the director was amazed by the way they administered the scene pain was so clearly evident in their eyes, since the beginning the director has noted that Maaneet acted well when dialogues were less, their eyes and body spoke much more, he still remembered the scene,

Where Drashti came out of the bathroom wearing Gurumeet's clothes and dances and Gurumeet traps her and seductively removes a strand from her forehead that was the first scene they shooted without retakes, the scene came out to be far more seductive that he had imagined

Even the roop tera sequence was like flawless shot in one take. However they hated each other they portrayed intimate scenes very well, as if they were real life lovers, so did the pain came in their eyes as if they have experienced separation.

It was only their secret, yes only Maanet and those really close to them understood why they were flawless, painstakingly flawless, just because they have been in love with each other, they have been separated and they are now like strangers' they have been on every step of relationship, from strangers to friends to lovers to enemies now again to strangers.

It has been a year'..

Things were not as easy as they seemed to be, behind a calm face there may be a thunder hiding. So was the case with Maaneet.

Today's scene left both of them at unease

In the morning they came to the sets as usual,

G: Dialogues

M: Scene

Giving each other cold looks, as if it was snowing heavily.

Their respective secretaries looked worried and director knew that the scene that was simple will come up with complications; he sighed and prayed to the heavens above.

The scene was quite simple one, the Karwa Chaut sequence where Gurumeet has to break Drashti's fast without anyone's knowledge. They have to play hide and seek selecting the saree she will wear and then the song sequence and finally the fast breaking one.

The songs have already been picturised and today the set was laid for the fast breaking scene, anyone can sense tension between the two as soon as they read the script for the day, the director called eth producer and the poor soul was like what I should do now if they plan to pack off.

MSK's secretary approached the dir and said can't the shot be done separately, the producer was shocked, the scene was planned to be shot at far angle capturing both the leads and portraying their respective emotions and their longing for intimacy.

Geet smirked hearing to the request and said

G: someone is panicking

Sec (M): madam please

G: its ok, I understand, (she whispered) all those years back he did not have courage to face me on this day then how can he face me now even if this was just an act

Sec (G): madam let it go, its better if the shot is taken separately

G: hmm (she gave MSK a deadly look)

She noted that he was not there but was just now coming out of his cubicle

M: Sec let me have a look at the scene

Sec(M): sir it has to be shot separately

M: its ok with me but what is the scene

Sec (M)(gulping): the fast breaking scene

MSK went numb for a while

M: you requested them for a separate shoot

Sec (M): yes sir

M: I am not a coward, I can face her

Sec (M): sir she agreed, what is the use of being uncomfortable

M: I am not afraid to face her, she was the one who did not turn up that day, she should be having a problem facing me and above all this is just an act

Meanwhile dir came with the pro, MSK assured them that the shoot will go as planned

Sec (M) (after the two left): sir what is the use

M: I will not give her the satisfaction; more over I was always right it was she who should be worried

Geet was just crossing by she heard it and tuned to look at him

G: some people never realize their sins

M: yes some people never realize just as you never admit the wrongs you did

G: look who is blaming? The one who himself is wrong is pointing finger at me

M: years may pass but truth always remains the truth

G: yes, the dust of time scan only hide it, it cannot destroy it

M: very true

G: I am always with the truth

M: the truth that suits you

G: better than a white lie

M: mind what you say

G: do you ever mind what you say?

M: why do I even talk to you?

G: nobody asked you to

M: you were the one who interrupted

G: you could have always chose not to answer

M: its my '..

G: yes it has always been you

M: you are accusing me

G: on my last breath

M: you

G: you

The shooting continues……

Somehow the rehearsed the scenes and the shooting started

(I am modifying the scene as per the requirement of the story)

The ladies all stood in a row and did the pooja

It had only females

As Geet portraying Drashti rose her glass to pour water for moon her eyes looked very hurt,

she should have been searching for imaginary Gurumeet ,

but she looked contently at the imaginary moon as if she was looking at someone's face,

her eyes welled,

the director was shocked,

but did not stop the camera

he was wondering why Geet was crying while as the scene was it should have been humourous

he was confused,

Geet slowly placed the glass in the plate

The director said CUT

She came back to reality

Maan who was witnessing the scene was shocked by her reaction

He knew that the script said that she has to raise her glass and make puppy faces searching for the male lead,

And here she was all lost in herself.

Meanwhile the director called her and said what she had done, she softly apologized and said she is ready for the retake, the director announced a half an hour break till he talked to the producer, because he thought that the way Geet gave the shot it was more than perfect, her eyes had a pain of the wife who was unable to announce her husband's identity.

The producer after seeing the scene on screen agreed and it was decided not to reshoot it

Dir: The shot went well it goes more with the script

Pro: madam you were perfect

G: it is ok we can reshoot it, it has lost the comic component and has become tragic

Dir: but that suits it

G: as you wish

The next shot was slightly changed though not much.

The scene was Drashti sees the moon through the sieve and turns side ways to look at her fake husband when Gurumeet has o emerge from behind and she sees him.

Dir: shot no 46732, DHGKP, scene no 2463, roll camera start sound ACTION

The shot had only Geet in foreground and others were in back ground, Geet looks at the sieve and turns around.

Dir: Cut, well done, next shot Maan are you ready

He describes the shot

Dir: shot no 46733, DHGKP, scene no 2464, roll camera start sound ACTION

The scene was shot from side angle, a far scene having both Maaneet in foreground and others in background plus the fake husband between them,

Geet is in the position where she left the last scene, she slowly looks up in the sieve to see Maan 's face, her eyes again welled forming a mist in her eyes, at the same time Maan's eyes also turned into a emotional fiasco, they complimented the emotions in her eyes,

She unknowing said, you came back

He responded I was always been here

What is all this?

On the evening hours both secretaries met, Maan's (SM) and Geet's (SG) as usual. They were good friends.

SM: this Karwa Chauth episode will be telecasted a day before the festival

SG: of course, who will watch a serial, they will be busy searching the moon.

SM: I am not feeling good about them

SG: same here

SM: can't we do something about it

SG: what can we do?

SM: I thought with Sameera gone they will unite

SG: she has gone but have created enough MU's to survive a life time

SM: maybe this KC can undo what started on that KC

SG: but how? Geet is so stubborn she forbids me to speak anything about the relation she says died on that day. But what I don't understand is why sje still keeps the fast, though I have never seen her doing the rituals.

SM: same is with Maan, he to does not eat or drink anything on that day. Yeh Kaisa Pyaar Hain?

SG: after seeing them today, my heart bleeds, we have to do something to bring them out of their private hells.

SM:I have an idea, but will need your co-operation

SG: I am always ready

SM: then listen

On the KC day, at 5 in the evening,

Geet was sitting in her room, pain was evident in the aura of the room, she was quite rather say too quite, her eyes were blank, gaze fixed on nothing particular. Suddenly the door opened with a bang bringing her out of her reverie.

It was SG, panting as if had come running all the way.

G: I had asked no one to disturb me.

SG: it's important

G: How much important

SG: accident, Had an accident

G: who? Certainly it's not you.

SG: he had, fell no he told he threw he cliff he dived he not found

G: what are you saying? I am not able understand a single word. Tell only the jist.

SG: SM just called, Maan went to that cliff at dawn, he was to return after the sunrise, but he did not come, SM went to seek him, but Maan was not there.

G (holding her breath): he must have gone somewhere why does SM not call on his mobile.

SG: he called but the mobile could be heard ringing down the cliff, it had stuck in one of the plants.

G: it might have fallen from his hand.

SG: but SM says how? And he fears worse

G: shut up SG

Just then SG's mobile rang; G grabbed it before SG could pick it up

G: hello SM

SM: (panicking) SG, I can't find him, can you please ask Madam if he could have gone somewhere else, he has been too annoyed lately

G: I am Geet speaking

SM: madam sorry, but

G: he might be somewhere nearby sitting under some tree

SM: thanks, I will try to find

G: is media also there?

SM: no, why they would be here, has someone told them

G: you did not tell them? Is your boss not being missed on shooting?

SM: he never shoots on this day, I mean on KC

G: keeps fast for someone (sarcastically)

SM: I don't know, you must know better

Before Geet could say anything the line went dead.

Geet's heart wanted to go there and search for Maan but her brain thought otherwise,

GH: Geet go and see where he has gone

GB: no Geet, this is just some trap

GH: maybe he needs you Geet, go

GB: no Geet, don't listen to that stupid broken heart, have you forgotten what happened all those years back on this same day and on that same cliff

GH: it has been years, and Sameera is gone married to that business tycoon, now Maan is all alone

GB: yes and he deserves it, he deceived you Geet for that Sameera, its good she too left him just as he left you

GH: he did not leave you Geet it was you who chickened out

GB: are you kidding? What should have she done? Stood there watching him kiss that Sameera that too on KC, wow, on one side there was moon shining in the sky and on the other side the man for whom she fasted with a beaming girl in his arms

GH: may what she saw was a plot set to separate them

GB: that was not a scene of some serial, it had been real, and how can that be a plot?

GH: still

Geet: STOP IT

The heart and the mind vanished

She sat there for long, then she heard some footsteps, it was SM,

SG: well our plan failed

Geet stood silently listening she was shocked

SM: this is no plan SG, Maan is really missing

SG: what?

SM: every year he goes to that cliff and then to some place, but his mobile is always on, he is always available, but today, oh SG I am so worried

Geet went blank; she grabbed SG's helmet and keys and ran out

SG & SM were too stunned too react, and before they could do something Geet was well beyond approach.

not again

If they say life is difficult they are correct, though Maan has not been truthful with her she still loved him. She was not worried whether he is having a soft corner for that Sameera and was double timing her, but the truth was that after Sameera he had been seen with no one, what confused her was he mourning her loss or Sameera's. Whatever it was, the fact is she loves him and today after finding out that he is missing she found it difficult to even breathe, so she was on her way to a place where he went when he was sad.

She parked the bike outside a small single storey house, in the outskirts of the city. The house stood alone amidst a huge lawn. She silently treaded towards the main door, and halted on hearing familiar voices, one was Maan's, she sighed in relive and the other was Kaakiji's , Kaakiji was the lady who helped Maan when he came to this city and he respected her like his mother, the old lady had also been attached to Geet emotionally.

Geet knowing it was not right still stood there eavesdropping,

M: what should I add to it now?

K: there on the right hand side shelf, in the 3^rd jar there is cardamom add one tsp

M: ok

Silence, aroma of Suji Halwa was in the air,

M: done

K: now transfer it to the bowl

M: ok, but which one

K: the 4^th one on the upper shelf

M: right

Silence, she could hear him working

M: here, now taste it

K: you too take some

M: Kaakiji, how can I?

K: oh yes, but it is almost 8 pm, I am sure the moon can be seen clearly

M: yes, but

K: look at her photo and drink some water and eat

M: I just hope today she could be here

K: then go call her

M: she will not come

K: clear the misunderstanding, she loves you

M: it's ok, Kaakiji you eat it I will eat after wards

K: Maan

M: I am ok

Geet was in tears and she revived that past KC when she had found him kissing Sameera, maybe she misunderstood, she knew that that witch was after him, maybe what she saw never happened, same as the camera angle things.

She was deep in thoughts and did not see Maan coming out, she was shocked

M: you here

G: wo ' I

M: what are you doing here?

G: came to meet Kaakiji

M: why?

G: can't I come

M: you have never come here since last so many years

G: but today I had a strong urge to come, any problems

M: no

G: then give me way to go

M: go

G: bye

M: I am not going anywhere

G: oh, then give my bye back

M: I never took it

G: right you only took my peace and nothing else

M: I never took anything from you

G: liar

M: what did I take?

G: my heart!

M: no I did not

G: then you must have thrown it on your way

M: thrown what?

G: my heart

M: Geet why are you talking in riddles?

And they continued till Kaakiji came to stop them
and this was it

Kaakiji gave them a stern look and they looked like kids ready for a good piece of scolding from their mother.

K: what is all this?

M&G: (together) it's not my fault

K: ok it's my fault

M&G: but

K: now get inside and talk like matured people

M&G: yes

K: and stop replying in unison

M&G: yes

Once inside

K: now I will talk you both will just listen

M&G: yes

K: offha

M&G: why?

K: look Geet you should have confronted Maan for being with Sameera that day, and that too when he should have been breaking your fast, and Maan you should have gone to find why Geet did not come at the specified time, and tried to find a solution rather then running away from the problem

Silence

K: say something

M&G: you only

K: one at a time

M&G: you

Silence

M&G: wo

Silence they gave each other killer looks

M&G: wo

K: ok, Geet you speak first

G: (making a face) you only asked not to talk

K: ok I take my words back now

G: I am sorry, I should have confronted him about kissing that witch

M: hey I never kissed any witch

G: oh yes she is your darling Sameera, sorry for calling her witch

M: I did not kiss her

G: oh then I were hallucinating

M: no

G: then

M: she had kissed me

G: then what should have I done but go away from there

M: you should have atleast tried

G: I did

M: when

G: I called you after midnight, being sure that at that time you would have been alone

M: and

G: and she received the call telling how nice you are in bed

M: what

G: yes, where were you

M: I was 3 sheets under the wind

G: oh, drunken

M: yes (meekly)

G: and you are sure nothing happened

M: yes I am sure

G: why

M: Geet not even in my dreams I can touch any other girl that way

G: what way

M: the way you are saying, Geet I am a one woman man

G: and that woman is

M: don't you know

G: I am not sure, WHO?

M: YOU

And then rest is like they say happily ever after'. They married, and loved each other and quarreled their way to old age.
