On this day last year, Hiten made his entry in Pavitra Rishta as Manav. His entry left
us, his fans with mixed feelings. On one hand, we were happy to see Hiten back in a full-
fledged role after quite some time and on the other hand, we didn't like the idea of him
coming in as a replacement. It was a big challenge as Manav is a hugely popular character
and was played to perfection by Sushant Singh Rajput. But as Hiten said "What good is a role
if it's not challenging". After one year, one can surely say that Hiten has lived upto the
challenge to a great extent. During this one year, the character Manav went through many
ups and downs. Although Hiten's talent wasn't tapped to the fullest, there were a few scenes
where Hiten got to showcase his talent and he came out with flying colours. Listed below
are few scenes where Hiten proved yet again why he's called Mr. Dependable.
Nov 11 '11: Hiten's entry.
Nov 30 '11: Manav gets to know Archana is pregnant. MAnav and Archana have a small
conversation where MAnav asks Archana again if she would change her stance in the chawl
demolition case. Hiten's acting here was very controlled yet effective.
December 1 '11: Archana delivers twins. In the scene where MAnav has tears of joy
on seeing his little bundles of joy but is not in a position to express his happiness
because of the events that happened earlier, Hiten shined. The way he took both the
kids in his arms at a time was really cute.
December 3 '11: Varsha jumps off the bridge with Soham. Manav breaks down and holds
Archana responsible for the mishap. Hiten was brilliant here.
December 5 '11 to December 9 '11: Manav is completely shattered. Throughout this week,
Hiten expressed Manav's grief to perfection.
December 12 '11: The first episode after the 18 years leap. It is shown how Manav's lifestyle
has changed completely and how his whole life revolves around his daughters.
December 13 '11: Manav hasn't really moved on and just can't forget Archana. Every small
mannerism of his daughters, particularly Ovi reminds him of Archana. Here we see a completely
changed MAnav who is in constant denial of his feelings towards Archana.
December '11: Manav is shown fighting his feelings but failing time and again.
He is shown as an extremely caring father who goes out of his way to make sure his daughters'
wishes are fulfilled and they don't feel the absence of a mother in their lives. Hiten
played a doting and caring father superbly.
December 31 '11: Manav comes to India after 18 years. He recollects his moments spent in India.
January 2 '12: MAnav meets Archana after 18 years. Hiten's expressions in the dream sequence
were wonderful where MAnav and Archana were walking towards each other.
January 3 '12: Manav notices Purvi calling Archana aai and he thinks Archana is married to someone
else. He shares this with DK. In this scene, Hiten came up with a class act. One of the best scenes
Hiten was given in PR.
January 11 '12: Savitha with the help of Sachin sends divorce papers to MAnav with Archana's
forged signature. MAnav decides to first confront Archana.
JAnuary 20 '12: MAnav returns to his house in the chawl. Archana's memories continue to haunt him.
He decides against staying in the chawl.
JAnuary '12: MAnav is shown frustrated and angry. These strong emotions were portrayed
wonderfully by Hiten.
February 6 '12: Purvi talks to her baba for the first time. Manav realises Purvi is Archana's adopted
daughter. MAnav talks to Savitha over the phone. He wipes his tears after he keeps the phone.
Wonderful acting again.
February 27 '12: MAnav under the influence of bhang confesses his feelings to Archana.
MArch 15'12: It's holi. MAnav blesses Purvi and promises her that he would always be there for her whenever
she is in need of help.
March 28 '12: MAnav gets to know Teju has been staying in India without his knowledge. He slaps her
hard for continuously lying to him. Here, we got to see MAnav as a strict parent, a total contrast of
the scenes shown till then. Here also Hiten was brilliant.
March 29 '12: Archana gives Teju's first salary to MAnav. The expression that followed was superb.
March 30 '12: Manav tells Teju he used to be a mechanic once. They put aside their differences and Manav lets
Teju continue driving taxi.
April 6 '12: MAnav's birthday. The scenes with all the three daughters and Sachin was a treat.
April 18 '12: After Teju's accident, MAnav, Archana and Teju return to Mumbai. Manav notices how Teju has got
really close to Archana. The last scene in the same episode where MAnav is waiting for Archana to drive her home
was wonderful.
April 20 '12: MAnav confesses about his insecurities as a father to Archana and how he can't bear to see Teju
getting close to Archana.
May 2 '12: MAnav begins to realize how much Archana loves her children. He watches Archana's enthusiasm
while purchasing bangles for Ovi. He gifts Archana bangles.
MAy 14 '12: Manav gets to know Ovi is staying at Archana's place. He thinks it is Archana's plan to get closer
to his daughters. He questions her about this but later realises he was wrong and apologises.
May 23 '12: Archana burns her hand and MAnav helps her out.
June 13,14 '12: Manav calls Archana back to his life. Archana gets emotional but later remembers the promise
she made to Sachin. Ovi and Teju's bithday.
June 20,21 '12: MAnav gets to know Arjun loves Purvi. He slaps Arjun. The feeling of betrayal by those Manav held in
high regard was portrayed very well.
July 26 '12: Manav and Arjun together break the dahi handi during janmashtami.
July 30 '12: Purvi gets kidnapped. MAnav consoles Archana.
July 31 '12: Ovi tries stopping Manav from going ahead to help Purvi but fails. Manav is determined to save Purvi.
August 1 '12: The whole family is concerned about Purvi's safety. Manav stays awake the whole night and gives
Archana moral support.
August 2 '12: Manav goes to meet Bishnu and the gang with the ransom. Arjun too follows him and gets shot.
August 24 '12: Ovi tries to commit suicide. Teju saves her on time and later narrates the incident to Manav. Manav
is completely shattered. He consoles Ovi. He later informs Archana about the same over the phone and also mentions how
he is fed up of the problems in his life.
August 27 '12: Purvi asks Manav to reconsider his decision regarding the divorce.
August 28 '12: The day the judgement regarding the divorce was to happen. MAnav says that he knows Archana is not
after his money but he can't bear to see her being insulted by her own daughters and therefore, he is going ahead
with the divorce.
Sepember 10 '12: Manav gets to know about the fake divorce papers and also about the lies Savitha had been telling him
all these years. He is totally shaken. He breaks his relation with Savitha. This whole episode belonged to Manav and
Hiten justified the role completely.
September 11 '12: Manav and Archana reunite.
September 12 '12: Archana returns home and is welcomed home in style.
September 13, 14 '12: Manav is extremely happy to have Archana back in his life.
September 19 '12: MAnav asks Purvi to come and stay with them. He accepts her as his daughter whole-heartedly. Archana
is extremely happy when she gets to know this and thanks Manav.
October 5 '12: Manav and Archana go to meet Varsha in the jail. Varsha lies that Siham is no more. Archana faints.
MAnav is confident that Varsha is lying and gives an inconsolable Archana confidence.
October 12 '12 : Manav shoots his own son. He is shocked to learn the truth and surrenders in the police station.
October 15 '12: Manav breaks down and cries his heart out. Brilliant performance.
October 16,17 '12: Manav holds himself responsible for Soham's state. He is completely shattered.
October 23 '12: Manav is disgusted with Soham's behaviour and decides never to bring him home.
Novemebr 1'12: Balan comes to Manav's office and disrupts his meeting. Manav says he will make sure the wrong are
punished.
