Javed Akhtar wins award

New Delhi: Noted lyricist Javed Akhtar has been awarded the Indira Gandhi National Integration prize for the year 2005.
The award, which consists of a citation and a cash amount of Rs 1.51 lakh, will be presented to Akhtar on October 31, the death anniversary of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. The award will be presented by Congress chief Sonia Gandhi.
Former receipients of this award include eminent personalities like Aruna Asaf Ali, P N Haksar, Shyam Benegal and Mahashweta Devi.
The award was instituted to recognise outstanding contributions of individuals and institutions to the cause of national integration .
