The year 2025 stood out as a competitive period for Hindi television, with established favourites and newer titles battling for viewer attention. Family dramas, reality formats, legal shows, and comedy series all found space on the TRP charts, reflecting diverse viewing preferences across the country.
Anupamaa:

Anupamaa continued to lead the ratings throughout 2025, maintaining its position as the most-watched Hindi television show. With a few highs and lows, Anupamaa, Starring Rupali Ganguly, consistently topped weekly BARC charts. Its steady performance reinforced its status as the benchmark show of the year, with audiences continuing to follow its evolving storyline week after week.
Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2:

The return of the iconic franchise with Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2 proved to be one of the biggest television events of the year. Featuring Smriti Irani and Amar Upadhyay, the reboot quickly gained traction and frequently competed with Anupamaa for the top spot. The show benefited from nostalgia while incorporating contemporary family conflicts.
Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai:

One of the longest-running shows on Indian television, Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai remained a strong performer in 2025. Its consistent TRP presence reflected a loyal audience that continued to engage with the show’s multi-generational family narrative. However, the past few weeks have been a little difficult for the show on the TRP front as the show has dropped out of the top 5 race.
Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma:

The long-running sitcom maintained its relevance and popularity throughout the year. Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah regularly featured among the top-rated shows, appealing to family audiences with its mix of humour and social themes. The show has managed to remain consistent in the top 10 race throughout the year and had also secured the numero uno spot for weeks.
Udne Ki Aasha:

Among the newer entrants, Udne Ki Aasha emerged as a surprise success. The show recorded high ratings across several weeks and resonated with viewers looking for fresh storytelling with aspirational themes. However, just like Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, the past few months have seen a rough patch for the show as it struggles to maintain its numero uno spot, infact even a spot in the top 5 race.
Mangal Lakshmi:

Both Mangal Lakshmi and Mangal Lakshmi-Lakshmi Ka Safar made frequent appearances in the top ten list during the year. Their traditional storytelling and emotional arcs appealed to viewers who prefer conventional daily soaps. While Mangal Lakshmi still enjoys a decent run, its spin off is struggling currently on the TRP charts.
Laughter Chefs 2 & 3:

The comedy reality format turned into a major success with Laughter Chefs 2 and its subsequent 3rd season which was launched recently. The show recieved a massive opening on the channel and went ahead to be the number one reality show in its opening week itself. Both the seasons have attracted strong viewership, especially in urban markets, thanks to their lighthearted content and ensemble cast.
Bigg Boss 19:

While its ratings fluctuated during the season, Bigg Boss 19 peaked during its finale weeks. The reality show often surpassed daily soaps during major episodes, reaffirming its ability to draw large audiences at key moments. The grand finale of the show also went ahead to dethrone Anupamaa from the numero uno spot, garnering massive ratings and topping the charts.
Tumm Se Tumm Tak:

Sharad Kelkar and Niharika Chouksey's 'Tumm Se Tumm Tak,' has been making headlines ever since its announcement. The unconventional storyline and the pairing of the leads has been a major driving factor for the show to be in the top 10 race consistently ever since its launch.
The 2025 TRP trends reflected a clear preference for emotionally driven storytelling, familiar formats, and selective nostalgia. At the same time, newer concepts proved that fresh narratives could also perform well when they connected with viewers. The year reinforced the importance of consistency and adaptability in maintaining television success.
