He's trying very hard to make a name for himself, separate from that of his famous wife. So much so, Shirish Kunder resented any kind of advice from Farah Khan during the making of 'Jaan-e-mann', as he regarded it as interference. Though Farah choreographed for the film, he wouldn't even take her advice on the look of the songs!
"Yes, it's true, Farah and I fought a lot," Shirish admits. "Farah or anybody else has no business telling me what the look of the film should be like. I know she is a filmmaker, but I have my own ideas about how the songs should be. My songs are not there just for the sake of it, they are a part of the script. I had to be totally stern on that because I know Farah had her own ideas. But I am the director of the film."
Shirish reveals he had to fight with almost the entire crew, including lyricist Gulzar. "Gulzarsaab had some lyrics in his mind, but then he had to rework some. It was only after long discussions did we come to an understanding." Even his actors were upset with him too. "I would keep asking for re-takes and they would get upset with me."
