Kamal Haasan says national cinema resides in the south

Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan kicked off a twoday entertainment conclave in the city in style. At the opening ceremony, he said he was very happy to see that the four south states were represented there and that the bond was growing stronger between them.
The Ulaganayagan noted with pride, "65 to 70 per
cent of films in India are south films. National cinema resides in the south." And then he added with a smile, "It's not bragging, it's a statement of fact."
The Lord of the Rings producer Barrie Osbourne, who also spoke at the conclave, said making movies is what drives him. "I am inspired by Kamal Haasan," he said, adding "We are discussing a project together. I hope it comes true soon." He went on to add that there is so much to learn from one another and that he hoped that Kamal has something to learn from him too. "My feeling is — keep your passion and keep making movies," he said.

Kamal hires chartered plane for audio launch

It is not just his films that Kamal Haasan wants to be different. It looks like even the events surrounding his film need to be unique. The actor is holding the audio launch of his upcoming film in three cities on the same day, a first in Tamil cinema! The audio release function will take place in Chennai, Coimbatore and Madurai on November 7, which also happens to be the actor's birthday.
A spokesperson confirms that the actor will be attending the launch in all the three cities. "We have hired a chartered plane for the day. Kamal sir will first fly to Madurai to launch the audio. Next, he will release it in Coimbatore and finally, in Chennai," he said.
However, the plans for each city are still being put in place. "We are working out details like who the guests will be for each event and what kind of events each one will have," adds the source.
The music for the trilingual has been composed by the Bollywood trio Shankar, Ehsaan and Loy. The film, which also stars Pooja Kumar, Andrea, Bollywood actor Rahul Bose and director Shekhar Kapur, will also be the first Indian film (and second in the world) to be released in the new Auro 3D sound format.

Meanwhile, the Ulaganayagan will be part of the screenwriting workshops during the conclave that will be held later this month in the city.
