Shah Rukh Khan and Preity Zinta in Veer Zaara

Yash Chopra

Film festival to honour Yash Chopra

Jaya Biswas

The Yash Chopra magic continues with Channel 4, one of UK's most popular channels, paying tribute to the filmmaker by holding a film festival in his honour. Beginning September 18, the festival titled 'The World of Yash Chopra' will feature movies, both produced and directed by Yash Chopra. Each of the movies will have a special introduction either by Yash Chopra himself or the director and stars of the film. "I am grateful to the channel and feel honoured. Yash Raj Films has always tried to cater to a global audience and this festival simply reaffirms that we have actually managed to do that," said Yash Chopra, the only director of the older brigade of filmmakers whose filmmaking has evolved since his first film Dhool ka Phool (1959) to his latest Veer Zaara (2004).

The festival aims to introduce a wide section of British television audiences to the more contemporary offerings of Yash Raj films. Also part of the festival is Dil To Pagal Hai, Darr, Lamhe and blockbusters like Dhoom, Hum Tum and Bunty Aur Babli. The festival wraps up with the Aditya Chopra directed Mohabbatein on November 6.
