Behind The Eight Dori
Proud To Be A Basher. The beginning of threads, which tool a life of their own. Some wondered why we would call ourselves Bashers. Not only that, some wondered why are we so proud of it.
Instead of explaining what we are and what we stand for, we have a mascot, we have a theme song and we a song. To make it easy for people to see the tongue in cheek quotient, thread becomes Dori and Doris are being opened.
In this forum there are few words which are abused beyond rhyme or reason. Bashing. The word itself might be going blue in the face for the actions it is being used to describe.
Positivity. The word itself is getting an identity crisis when it is used to provide the cloak under which negativism is bashed.
Reality & Fiction : These words are scratching each other because they do not know when they became Synonyms.
Why I am saying this.
It is a long rant. Indulge Me. I certainly am.
Do people recognize self-deprecation when they see it. Do people appreciate tongue in cheek humor, wit, or sarcasm. Do people understand that, sometimes, an eye for an eye is better than showing the second cheek when slapped and showing the second cheek when slapped is better than an eye for an eye as the situation demands.
Why is there such a tendency to apply broad strokes to everything.
Do as I say, don't do as I do is todays mantra and I will do it because you do it is tomorrow mantra. I preach but will not practice is greeted with thundering applause from own self. You cannot tell me what to do, because I am already telling you what to do hypocrisy seems to be deep rooted. All the pots are busy calling all the kettles black because black is in fashion.
Where has live and let live disappeared.
Focus of this is ASR and Kushi.
People who are diehard fans of Barun and cannot differentiate between Barun and ASR and cannot tolerate a single word against ASR and tolerate a single negative thought about Barun. Please stop reading. If you continue to read and give a reply without offering a productive counter argument in a polite way, you will be ignored, because your reply is insignificant and so will your licking the report button until your tongue is dry.
We all know, whenever we criticize ASR or Kushi or praise them, we are doing that to the characters. Characters who are born from the fictional word created by CVs. So in essence we are either criticizing or praising the CVs. But the CVs are mostly nameless and faceless as far as the audience go. So we identify the CVs, via the characters they created.
If ASR is an idiot or Kushi is a stupid means the CVs behind the characters have imparted the characters with idiotic and stupid traits.
ASR is spineless. Supporters of ASR get in a tizzy and faint and hyperventilate and defend and some destroy Kushi, because, when you cannot offer a proper defense, go on the offense and change the topic.
Next Day. Kushi deserves to be slapped. Supporters of Kushi now get all twisted and go all out in defense and train their targets on ASR.
I myself, when ASR does things wrong, makes no bones about voicing my displeasure against the atrocities he has committed and is still committing (no telling anyone about how he married Kushi, in my book is an ongoing atrocity committed against Kushi).
When it comes to Kushi and her stupidity, I am not that strong in my criticism of her.
This many may seem as hypocrisy. This many say, is not fair. Some even might ask, for all the preaching that has been done at the beginning of this post, this has to be the most bizarre thing for me to admit.
But I am being fair.
Because, not only do I know what is right and what is wrong and what is fair (as per the parameters that life has taught me), I also know that not every wrong can be treated the same way.
ASR throwing Kushi out into the cold on the day he married her and murdered her emotionally is not the same as Kushi laughing at ASR neck sprain.
ASR keeping quite when Shyam is telling the world Kushi lusts after him is not the same as Kushi making a fool of herself in ASR Office.
Because, what ASR did many times, was with the intention to hurt Kushi. It does not matter whether he knew the truth or half-truth or was in pain. His intention was to hurt Kushi.
Whatever Kushi has done so far, be it keeping a secret, or be it eating 100 pooris and 10 kgs of curries by herself, or barge into an office and make a fool of herself, was not to hurt ASR.
Whether we take old examples or the examples from the recent week. What ASR did, or didn't do was nothing or was negative. What Kushi did or tried to do was for positivity, to make Anjali happy.
Everyone forgot, it was Nani, Mami and Akash who packed the picnic basket. Kushi did not. Akash even says, he forgot cool drink and went and got a flask or something. Let us for argument sake say Kushi packed the picnic basket herself. Other than Kushi there were 7 others there. Could no one tell her not to bring. Ok. Let us say, they couldn't. Why did they play along at the theater. Let us say, they couldn't shut her up. Was Kushi doing it out of malice. Was she mocking anyone. Was she trying to hurt anyone. So why is this clown acts deserving a slap?
Even in the office, ASR loved his wife's antics and people are ready to give brownie points to ASR. But when the business men like Kushi antics, they are termed as stupids and idiots. So if ASR like them, he is awww such a sweet heart and if 2 other men like it, they are idiots.
Now I want to come to the point.
I wish I am good with GIFs and if I was, I would have pasted them here. All involving the off-screen Masti of Barun, Sanaya and Akash.
They act as silly and as goofy as Kushi does. Have you seen the faces and idiotic fun they have on the sets. Are sets not their work place just like office is ASR workplace. Have you seen Barun somersaulting over the bed and making monkey kicks and acting all silly. Or when Sanaya pulled Barun's hair and they both slap each other and so many other silly antics.
Everyone loves these buffoonery on the sets and we all say aww such cute friendship. Everyone loves them clowning around and we all say, we pray to God they keep doing this off-screen Masti.
Do you know why. Because, their off-screen Masti is fun. Many will like it and there will be a few who may not like it. Especially when they themselves say in interview that sometimes the director gets mad at them for goofing off instead of working on their scenes. Again, it is a professional work space, but we all enjoy the goofiness, don't we.
Because, it is not hurting anyone.
Now I come back to Kushi. Kushi's buffoonery, clowning, stupidity, idiotic behavior etc, is not out of spite, out of revenge or out of malice. Tell me one instance when she deliberately try to hurt anyone with her goofish acts. Irritation yes. But mental torture, killing of dreams, murdering self-worth, questions ones very own existence. Those are not the goals of her buffonary. Please do not bring the incident of Kushi eating 100 pooris and 10 dishes. If CVs wanted to show, that, they could have showed all the family having eaten and showed only food enough for one person left and Kushi after waiting and being hungry, finishes off what is left, I would be the first one to blast her into outerspace. But even clown acts need to be believable. So that day, it was not believable. If then, she did not eat, because she wanted to hurt ASR and wanted him to faint. When no other family waited for ASR, she did. She waited more than any of his own family.
So all I am saying is. We cannot, slap Kushi one day because yesterday we called ASR spineless.
In all of the serial, the only person who has not hurt anyone else is Kushi. She has never intentionally caused hurt to anyone to the point where the person is left shattered.
But Kushi has been dealt many blows where she has been shattered emotionally, physically and mentally. Worst part is she has not received redemption or justice for any of those. Forget for what ASR did to her. She did not even get redemption or justice for what Shyam the villain did to her and her family.
So if any person here thinks, it is ok to evaluate Kushi with the same logic of how ASR or Shyam is evaluated, then, all I can say is this. Every crime in this world has a punishment. But not every crime in the world has the same punishment. Because if it did, Irritating your spouse would be considered a crime and carry equal punishment as Domestic Violence against your spouse.
The reason people seem to forget the significance of the situation, the weight of the action and motive behind the action is because, of the words I used above, how women are eager to forgive a handsome man for heinous crimes but are ready to punish a beautiful woman for tom foolery and buffoonery.
