This story is of a place named Solapur in Maharashtra. Prakash Patil has a textile business. His wife Pramila has pure faith on Lord Ganesh. It has been 20 years of their married life and it was the day of their 2oth anniversary. Pramila was getting ready for her husband and waiting for him to show up. She was delighted and looked really beautiful. Prakash comes and sees his lovely wife. He says that he has been really lucky and the twenty years spent with his wife has been really amazing and he had cherished them in his heart. He gifts an anniersary card to his wife and thanks her for being the best wife and giving him to kids who were precious to him as emeralds. He says that even if he dies then he has no fear and no complains. Pramila says that she would never let it happen, as her only wish was she wants to leave the world married not as a widow. Prakash says that his only wish is that he wants to see his daughter happily married and his son flourishing in business. They both hug after the lovely conversation.
The entire family is gathered infront of Lord Ganesh temple in their house. Pramila asks Lord Ganesh that she have only one wish that she would die married. Just then she sees the statue of anesh turning red and she is frightened. Then Prakash does the arti and while doing it he starts coughing and accidentally the arti falls from his hands. Pramila is shocked as it meant that bad luck was on their doorstep. She faints. The family convinces her that it was an accidant and it would never happen again and she shouldnt think negative. Pramila is unable to hide her wrong thoughts. She hastes to the temple to meet the pandit. Pandit says probaly Lord Ganesh was giving her warnings, maybe some thing extremely bad was going to happen. Pramila and prakash is sitting together, still temsed. Pramila says that every time she prays to god that she wants to die married something happen. Prakash consoles her and tells her to rest.
Pramila dreams that she was in a beautiful saree standing at the Ganesh temple when she sees some people carrying a dead body. The white blanket, with which the dead body was covered, blows to her and her vermilion is wiped off, her saree turns white. But she doesnt reconises it and starts running towards the people telling them to take the blanket from her. When she sees the dead body she is glued to the spot, as it was Prakash. She jumps up from sleep all sweaty and panic-stricken. She requests prakash to go for a check up. The next day they both to a very famous doctor Mahajan. After the check up the doctor says that the reports would be given the next day. Pramila is still worried, she cries her heart out looking at the photo album, recalling the beautiful moments she had spent with Prakash and thinking how she would spend her life without him. When Prakash comes and explains her that they had no power to alter what is stored for them and that he had no complains about his life. God has given him more than enough and even if he is to die then he would accept Gods decision happily.
He says that he wants to take his dearest wife to the world tour. The next day they get the reports and the doctor says that though there are no symtoms but the reports say that prakash has throat cancer. Pramila stares as a statue. She runs to Lord ganesh asking if she had made in mistake in life or she had done anything less in her prayers that her family is suffering so much. She says that her faith on God is strong enough and she would force God to change his decision and for this she would do anything. She says that she would keep a first (Mata Savitri Ka Vrat). Her husband s treatment starts and she goes from temple to temple. She tries the thread to the tree. She doesnt loose hope and continues with her prayers. The doctor says that Prakash would have to go through an operation. Before Prakash is taken to the OT (operation theatre) he tells Pramila to fullfil all his dreams which was to make their kids successful in life and pramila promises that she would never turn back towards her duties.
Pramila prays and begs to God so that her husband gets well, she prays God to give him four years to survive so that he can fullfill all his wishes one by one. She says that if prakash is saved then they together would go to the darshan of Maha ganesh. The operation is successful but the doctor says that prakash was out of danger but as it was a cancer so it wouldn t go easily. The cancer would again affect him after four years and if it does then it would be tought to cure him. Prakash is happy that he was fit and fine. They go to the temple as Pramila promised to God. Their daughter gets married and their son gets successful in business. Prakash and Pramila are happy. Four long years passed by and it was their 24th anniversary. Pramila is as usual getting dressed beautifully for her husband when she suddenly drops the bottle of vermilion.
She remembers that four years were gone and as the doctor said Prakash would get ill again. Just then Prakash comes and hands the tickets to her; they were going for a world tour. Prakash is extremely happy, he starts dancing that all his dreams came true and suddenly his throat pains and his voice is gone. He is unable to talk and starts loosing strength. He is taken to the hospital and Pramila runs to the temple. This time she says to God that she wont black mail Him with her tears but her only wish is that her husband get any pain before dying. Just then lightning cracks and a flower drops on the floor. Pramila is contented and she rushes to the hospital and finds Prakash smiling at her. The dostor says that it was a miracle and that it was Pramila s strong belief in God that brough back Prakash. Just as Pramila wished Pramila died as a married woman and nine months after her death Prakash left the world as well.
