Hello Everyone,

Here is a quick update of yesterday's episode. Written in a rush so apologies in advance for spelling mistakes or grammatical errors.

Mimoha

****
Start of the story - 22 July 1988 - Chakai Jila, Jamui, Bihar

Episode opens with Uma Devi in police station alongwith her father and infant daughter. She is pleading that she is Uma Devi but the police officer refuses to believe. He shows her her death certificate. Flashback shows that Rambriksh, right hand of local MLA had married Sitara, his Bhabhi. He had got a fake death certificate prepared for his first wife to make his second marriage legal. Uma Devi goes to her husband's house with her infant daughter and requests him to take her back as second wife but he refuses. She approaches a lawyer and shows her the wedding attire and a photograph taken on the wedding day. Lawyer fights her case in district court but they lose. Uma Devi settles down in the same village but her husband and his new wife make life difficult for them. Local people are unable to help too for fear of Rambriksh. She and her father start working in nearby villages. Her father passes away.

Uma Devi wants to get her daughter educated and requests Rambriksh to help her. Sitara, the second wife, gets her thrown out of village. In 1993, she goes to Patna and becomes a daily worker at a construction site where some illegal migrants from across the border also work. Police raids the site and arrests all the workers. Uma Devi tries to tell the police that she is a local. A call is made to Police Station Jamui which gives information about her death certificate. Meanwhile her daughter is sent to the orphanage. Eighteen years later, Shabari (Muniya) becomes a graduate and takes up a job in Madhepura Panchayat. She shares the story of her mother with village panchayat. In 2006, Sarpanch Vidya Singh gets the case re-opened in Madhepura court. Judge orders a DNA test to ascertain Shabari's paternity. The test proves that Rambriksh is indeed Shabari's father. Rambriksh accepts that Uma Devi is his first wife. Uma Devi gets her identity back after 23 years.

UMA DEVI : At these times do women like uma devi exist...? her love for her husband was apparent, the need to have a father for her child was apparent, what baffeled most was even at the hands of extreme abuse was her willingness to stay as ramvrikshs second wife. she lived against all odds and finally truth prevailed and yet after many years she was more than happy to be called his wife.
RAM VRIKHSHS SECOND WIFE: why do such women exist? she was beautiful and a widow, why did she run after a married man and ruin his family, she could have easily found another match, and lived happily, what did she gain from disrupting uma devis and ramvrikhshs life?
RAM VRIKHSH: an empty headed guy who couldnt see or think beyond his bhabis advances, who thought the influence of power and money was enough to rule the world, also one of those men who still think boys are superior to girls, the ironic part was and to an extent humorous was how he was forced to admit that he was uma devis husband for the fear of allegation of rape!!!!...thank god he didnt know about dna testing or its centre, otherwise he and his allies would have reached there with a big bag of money ...( well this is just a joke, bcos may be its a prsestgious centre and hopefully no corruption takes place there.)
UMA DEVIS DAUGHTER: education emancipated her, with the help of others she established her identity...
Question is, is it important to prove ones identity?,is it needed to prove a persons biological father, or mother...? ...issues to think about...? why didnt uma devi just leave this man and go away, or why did muniya want to know her father...?
The touching part of the story was when the lady lawyer asked uma devi if she had any thing to prove that she was his wife, and so innocently she showed her red bangles and clothes which she got from her in laws house at her wedding, if i was there, i would have given uma devi a hug...

Hello my dear friends, I agree with you that this is not a show where we can admire the stars in them, this is a socially relevant show and hence less comments at WU threads, prior to MBs entry there were hardly any written updates, now there are many, even though the contents of this show are different from daily soaps, it is very important to know that such attrocities are still prevalent, so I would urge all to take part in the discussions of these social evils...
