Legacy and Longing: Inspiring Leaders/Heroes You Want to See Back!
Shalini, Another lovely take on the episode as always - especially loved the part on the foreshadows during the rasms. Reading your WIL has become a part of IPK watching experience for me - you always make me think and/or notice little pointers I wouldn't otherwise 😊Was wondering if you could PM me when you open a new thread.
Loved the Arnav-Khushi interaction. I thought he was very restrained and extremely articulate on what exactly had angered him and more importantly hurt him. Him saying that Di would never get better while Shyam was in her life was absolutely spot on. Am a bit surprised at Khushi's reactions - could she really not justify her actions more than Di needs her pati (no matter how cheating, scheming, adulterous and murderous he is) and that Di might have been lost to them unless Shyam was brought back?
Loved how he asked her to leave but then spent his evening, night and morning thinking solely about her until he finally succumbs and calls her. I did like Khushi's fiesty and cute response but also felt it was rather immature in this situation - this was not the time to play hard to get. She was completely in the wrong on so many levels - the actual decision, going against his express wishes, going publicly against him in front of his family regarding the very man he had thrown out purely based on her accusations and that too for the di he felt so responsible for and had spent all his life taking care of (esp since he'd shared the reason with her the night of the miscarriage in the hospital) and finally doing so behind his back when he was out of the house. On top of it all, he hadn't actually said anything unjustifiably hurtful, quite unlike in their past interactions. He had been brutally honest but not unfair and definitely not with the intention of hurting her for the hurt she had cause him with her actions.
Loved Arnav's reactions at Shyam's overtures - he listens to him without any words but absolutely furious until Shyam mentions Khushi and then he leaps across the room to pin him to the wall and tell him to not mention Khushi again. I would have liked him to threaten Shyam a little more forcefully by telling him he would destroy him completely instead of just saying I will not let you go this time. I know ASR is a man of few words but he needs to start going on the offensive with Shyam and not continually playing defense.
Loved the family's reactions to Shyam and NK speaking up. Today, it was clear no one except Dadi was happy to see Shyam back. Were they also unhappy with Anjali and her clear manipulations of everyone - I'm not sure. It will take a lot for the family to be unhappy with Anjali - their excessive cosseting is precisely why she is the way she is.
Precap was disturbing to me at a lot of levels - not because Arnav could actually agree to marry Khushi for his sister. That will not happen - he knows what she means to him. He could not hate her when he thought she was trying to destroy his sister's marriage, so I doubt he will be able to convince himself that he is re-marrying her with all the rasms for his sister. He might get mad enough at Khushi to say that I will not go the whole rasm hog to please you anymore but he's made it very clear, they are already married, so doing it for his sister is not the issue here. What it said of Anjali made me cringe - she's manipulated and lied to everyone including Chhote to bring the guy who tried to murder Chotte back to his house and now she's busy trying to convince Chhote that the girl he told her he couldn't breathe without did it to resuscitate the di he loves more than his life. This is so wrong at so many levels - I don't know where to start. Anjali is damaged but there seems to be an inherent selfishness and constant need to be the centre of universe in everyone's eyes that is just really hard to watch. I know people like her probably exist in the real world and that her family and esp her Chhote help her perpetrate this but it is very hard to watch. Shyam doesn't make me cringe but Anjali is beginning to :-)
Shalini, read your response to me in the last thread. You're right about the foreshadows - I hadn't noticed them because I really never seem to notice the symbolism that seems to be inherent in this show. I can take Khushi 'unwittingly' protecting Shyam but was hoping they'd depicted her 'so called wit' a little better. She just came across as immature and a little dumb instead of naive and willing to do anything for Arnav's happiness (even if that includes making his di happy by bringing back the guy that almost destroyed her life) which I think is what they were trying to show. My take is that until Arnav spells out how much Khushi means to him (in words because actions seem not to be getting through to her or maybe because he shows his love for her with his actions while he verbalizes his love for his di), she will continue to run amuck like a bull in a china shop in the hopes of making him happy by trying to make delusional di happy with her impulsive and not-well-through actions/decisions.
Thank you, Buddy!
I agree with your views on the Precap. That statement from Anjali is the very basis of my segment on her in tonight's WIL. That was SO weird.. and insightful on who and what Anjali really is. I SO agree. That was SO wrong at so many levels!!
I thought the weirdest statement and sentiment that I heard from Anjali was – "Now, Chhote is not my Chhote anymore." – because he was spending time with his wife, after having been kidnapped and nearly killed. That was SO wrong at so many levels.
But this one has indeed outdone that one by many miles!
