I will give my comprehension of 'love' .
In love you accept the other person as he or she is . Arjun accepted Purvi for what she is ...a middle class girl with middle class values .
Did Purvi accept Arjun for what he is ? Rich , slightly arrogant , motherless with only a Dad for family ?
No . Archana demanded change in him ...so much so that he had to give up his total identity . This is very insulting when a woman does it . He even had to disown his dad ...the person who brought him in this world . Purvi kept silent and her silence means agreement with her Aai ...Archana .
Keeping her identity and sanskaars intact Purvi wanted change in Arjun . Arjun , like a fool , complied .
He dropped his father's name , stayed in a chawl , worked as a mechanic and was reduced to a lovesick babbling youth totally under the spell of his girl friend and her
hard to please mom . Gone was the professional , workaholic , self assured guy we had seen .
His only concern was could he keep Purvi happy ? Not his business or work .
Purvi assured him he didn't have to worry .
Now I want to ask something here . Why the hell would Purvi not be happy ? Because she would be living in a palatial mansion ? Because she had too much money to spend than she had dreamt of ? She should give some of it to charity then ...that is a noble habit . I could understand this concern of a young man with straitened financial means but for the life of me I cannot understand this concern when it comes from Arjun Kirloskar's mouth .
Association which saps a young man's confidence to this extent , demands changes from his personality to this extent is not love at all . It is called having the upper hand in a relationship ...it is even called domination .
Now let us see Ovi . I know that many root for ARVI but even Ovi has a ' VI' in her name and ARVI need not change .
Ovi accepted Arjun for what he was . She demanded no change in him . She never expected him to give up his dad's name and become somebody else for her .
She accepted his workaholism with a smile .
She trusted him totally . Trust is an important part of love and Ovi trusted Arjun . So much that she let him go to a foreign country without having the rightful engagement party by convincing his dad . His dad was against it but he yielded when his future daughtr in law put a word .
She left her modelling job for him and incurred loss .
When she found he has totally slipped off her hands she made a deal ...but the difference is that she wanted Arjun while Purvi is sacrificing Arjun and only loves her Aai . If Purvi can give Arjun up like a sacrificial fruit for her mom , Ovi would have never given him up ...that much value she places on him . To her he is the most valuable thing .
She pursues him just like he pursued Purvi . Who says that pursuing is only the forte of a man and not a woman? That when a man pursues it is sweet and romantic but when a woman pursues it is 'obsession' ?
Love of seven births has more chance when it is not a 3 month old crush but when one steadily loves since childhood only one person inspite of living in a developed country where one can have many boyfriends .
In my opinion ARVI need not end . The 'vi' needs to be displaced bas . Arjun can realize the value of such devotion later and not be angry with her when he understands about the deal . After all Purvi gave him up for her Aai's happiness with her own choice . Nobody held any gun to her head ...it is pointless blaming Punni or even Ovi here .It is entirely Purvi's choice .
If they break up , Purvi can easily find another love interest . She survived the broken engagement with Vinay anyways and giving up Arjun was her choice . Anyways this rishta was spreading misery band breaking up a family . I don't crticise deals as most arranged marraiges are deals and I support an arranged marraige ...they turn out perfectly fine .
And this deal ...If Purvi accepted it its completely a choice of the brain . It is my opinion that Arjun loves her far more than she professes to 'love' him . She loves truly only one person and thats her Aai .
