G.V. PRAKASH'S 25 IN 25
GV Prakash is AR Rahman's nephew and clearly he has music in his blood for the 25 year old has already composed the music for 25 films. His uncle may be a living legend whose boots are too impossibly big to ever be filled at this stage but GV Prakash has proved repeatedly that he is a talented composer in his own right who is here to stay.
AL Vijay's Thaandavam starring Vikram, Anushka and Amy Jackson is his 25th film and judging by the popular response it looks like GV has another winner on his hands. He could not have asked for a better way to mark the occasion. His foray into Bollywood – Gangs of Wasseypur 1 and 2 has also announced his presence in the fairer climes of the North with an explosive bang.
Veyyil was the film that introduced Tamil cinema fans to this promising youngster. Like the film, the songs were also fresh and vibrant. Veyilodu Vilayaadu and Urugudhe Marugudhe were the pick of this album.
Kireedom established that GV Prakash was not just a one film wonder as the songs became very popular indeed. Akkam Pakkam went on to become a massive hit and remains firmly entrenched in the minds of music lovers. Moreover, it marked the beginning of what has proved to be a successful collaboration between AL Vijay and GV Prakash.
Polladhavan had many tracks that went on to become chart toppers and was a commercial success for GV Prakash.
