What I LOVED: Weekend Special 17th & 18th August 2012

Dhan-ta-tan! What an 'I dare you' episode!

Day 4!

Progress Points

1. Shagun done

2. Arnav listens to Dadi Ji 'technically'; but does show up at GH

3. Garima running from Dadi Ji

Favorite Scene

Arnav: So, that means you're not mine right now!

Khushi: I am only yours a...

Arnav & Khushi

Are you ready?

Arnav is getting himself ready; Khushi is getting the household and gifts ready.

How typical of Arnav-Khushi relationship! Arnav needed to ready himself for getting married. Khushi, who was prepared to for this, still needs to make the household is in order, and gifts are done for everyone. She did all this when her sister was to get married. She's doing this for herself too.

By the way, he really needs to be in touch with her before he leaves home, needs to confirm she is ready and everything is okay. Really?

How typical of a married couple! Seems like an every morning exchange between husband and wife.

Who Dare Stop Me?

So let us recount some of the main points:

1. Khushi attempts to stop him; Arnav takes it lightly.

2. Dadi Ji successfully stops Arnav; NK tries to help, but he is shushed by Anjali and Akash. NK manages to pacify Arnav.

3. Arnav shows up after shagun and declares he wants to talk to Khushi alone; despite everyone being shocked, he carries Khushi inside.

4. Khushi tells him he shouldn't have come.

Arnav: Who dare stop me?

Khushi: Arnav Singh Raizada

Arnav: Khushi Kumari Gupta Singh...

Khushi: *stops him*

Arnav: What?

Khushi: There's yet time to be 'Singh Raizada'.

So, who dare stop Arnav Singh Raizada? Khushi dares.

Khushi has always been the one to stop Arnav, when he has been unstoppable. Be it changing his decisions, as she did when he broke up with Lavanya; be it when he is beating the goons or a kidnapper; be it his attempt to kiss her or their Suhaag Raat.

Who stops Arnav? Khushi does. However, as per Khushi, Arnav stops himself.

Khushi stops him, and when she does, Arnav stops himself.

At the Right Time - For Khushi

Arnav was stopped from attending the shagun. He had told Garima and Bua Ji that he'd come. He'd told Dadi Ji that he'd go with or without her.

All dressed up and nowhere to go? When Khushi told him that he could not attend, Arnav laughed it off - Who dare stop me!

>> Dadi ji did stop Arnav, but it was only because he was caught on his own word - that he'd follow all rituals, which by the way, he is doing not for rituals, but for Khushi. He wants her as his wife, and he'd do whatever it takes.

Why did he stay back? Khushi.

>> He lands up in GH, much to everyone's shock. He declares brazenly - Technically, I didn't do anything you didn't say! Quite right he didn't. He caught Dadi in her own words - he's not allowed for shagun and after haldi; his argument? He is perfectly within his rights to be at GH, even by Dadi ji's rules.

Why did he come? Khushi.

>> He announces he needs to talk to Khushi alone, takes her hand and pulls her into their room in GH.

Translation: this wedding-rasam-drama-thing is happening just to appease you folks. She is very much still my wife. If this doesn't happen, she'd still be my wife.

One could he came because he'd said so his and her families, and he wouldn't go bad on his word.

Or one could say, his pride was hurt when Dadi ji dares to trap him. He was here to soothe his ego.

But then we know - Arnav made a silent promise to Khushi; but Khushi knows his silence. She tells Garima so - Unhone humien khud bharosa dilaya hai. [He's himself asserted my faith.]

Arnav had to show up. Perhaps, it is his way of taking up the responsibility, declaring his authority, and demarking his zone. He'd himself be there to ask her hand, and take her as his wife. Sure, the families were performing all things properly; but eventually and ultimately, Khushi is 'his'.

~*~

He supposedly came at the right time; so affirmed by himself and his new aide, NK.

Had he not come then, what might have happened?

Well, the last time, he'd showed up right on time was when Bua ji was about to land a cracking one on Khushi's already rather pink cheeks!

Wonder if he again saved a potential mess?

So you're mine?

Khushi: Every ritual stands for something.

Arnav: What about our feelings? They don't matter?

Khushi: If rituals and traditions don't matter, what does?

Arnav: That I love you, dammit!

Arnav: Khushi Kumari Gupta Singh...

Khushi: There's still time to become 'Singh Raizada'

Arnav: What do you mean?

Khushi: It's just shagun now. Roka happens tomorrow.

Arnav: What's that?

Khushi: We'll exchange rings tomorrow.

Arnav: That's ridiculous! How does that impact anything?

Khushi: It does. The ring is worn in this finger, the nerve of which reaches the heart. Once the matter reaches the heart, I'm yours.

Arnav: So, that means you're not mine right now!

Khushi: I am only yours a...

Khushi wushi! Yeah you're right. And yeah, you get the point he's making too!

The traditions and rituals signify an accepted relationship and for this reason each of them has a sweetness attached to it.

What Arnav is saying, though, rings true!

The ring is exchanged because you already belong to him. You will not start belonging to him because the ring was exchanged. This ring only announces that which you already accept and affirm.

Man made traditions for themselves. Man was not made for traditions. Traditions and rituals are there to celebrate or formalize some things; things that are already accepted.

Had a tradition been enough to marry someone, then Arnav had put the sindoor and mangalsutra on Khushi. But did that make him accept her as his wife? Nope. In fact, he blandly told her that she was his wife outside their room. Within their room, she meant nothing to him.

And Khushi, to whom traditions mean the world - Did she not say that she does not accept Arnav as her husband because she was forced to follow the traditions? Does she not run from him when he expresses his love? Does she not still take those backward steps?

And today, by contrast: none of the traditions have happened as of now, and Arnav and Khushi have committed to each other completely.

Case in point: Rings are yet to be exchanged. Khushi accepts that she belongs only to Arnav.

Arnav and Khushi: Standing as One

They are standing for their families. But rarely does their family stand for them.

Arnav's family knows that he carries the responsibility on his shoulders. However, they also accept that he is a self-proclaimed loner. He does not share his heart or his pain with anyone. They leave him alone. He feels responsible towards them, and does what he feels is necessary to provide for them, and had probably forgotten to have desires or dreams of his own.

Khushi's family loves her a lot, but she also carries the burden of being an adopted child, even though her father has never placed it upon her. She feels a sense of responsibility towards them. The moment she sees a need, she has to fix it. She does whatever she has to do even to the extent of giving up her desires or dreams.

Arnav has a need to be on the right side. When he does something, he is convinced that he is right in doing it. No one has to tell him he is right, and he looks for no affirmation from anyone. At a young age, he had to choose between who was right in his household, between his own parents and elders, perhaps. Though, he lost both his parents, but he probably took that learning; he has to be right. He needs to be on the side where there is rightness. He cannot stand being wrong, or being proved he was wrong. He is probably so used to being right, he seems to think that whatever he does is right. He convinces himself that he is always right, and if he is doing something, there must be an element of rightness in it, because his perspective tells him so.

Khushi has an inherent fear of being on the wrong side. If something around her goes wrong, or someone is angry with her, she takes it for granted that she must've done something to cause it. Just as Arnav's past has a bearing on his need to be right, perhaps, Khushi's past has a bearing on her to be guilt-led always. Most of the times, Khushi has not done anything wrong. Her intentions are right, her motivations are right, her actions also are intended towards helping others. Yet, when the result backfires, she feels guilty. It's almost as though there is something Khushi got blamed for as a child; something she probably does not remember, yet, the impact of it has stayed in her psyche - like a nightmare or a bad memory that impacts one's behavior. She does not like to be caught on the wrong foot, even if she was never on the wrong foot.

Arnav believed that he was always right till one day his heart stated otherwise when he'd made Khushi stand in the rain, just to annoy her enough to quit the job. He convinced himself that he was right. He again went through similar emotions when because of him Khushi got stuck in a collapsing building. He rescued her but guilt caught up with him. Since, it was once incident after another, and Arnav attempted to prove each time that he was right, and he somehow ended up being proved wrong. It all culminated in the wedding, and its disclosure as Arnav's biggest mistake of not trusting Khushi. Khushi helped Arnav come face to face with the part of himself that accepts that he too can make mistakes. Arnav is more open to accepting that he makes mistakes, and he makes it even more certain now that he is indeed on the right side.

Khushi has always been fearful of being in the wrong side, and that has pushed her to want to fix things that go wrong around her. Khushi asks forgiveness if she feels she did the wrong, even if she was the victim. She did that when she found herself standing on a path of rose petals. Arnav told her to relax. They were married and weren't doing anything they shouldn't. She did it again when Dadi Ji raised a storm over Khushi seeing the album. She apologized, and Arnav later told her that she does not need to. But again, when Bua Ji asked her about her wedding being proper, she apologized, thereby taking full responsibility of an act where she was not a willing participant - but a victim. No one has ever told Khushi that it was not her fault, and she need not be sorry or afraid. Probably, with Arnav being by her side, she would (and should) be free of this fear, and be confident on her rightness.

In such and many others ways, they complement each other so beautifully; whether to provide what was missing in the other, or to teach them something they didn't know.

[Something beautiful is being seen right now as they follow rituals. Arnav is all about the depth of a relationship and to him that is sanctified. Khushi understands the depth, but views it in a sacred and accepted social status. Arnav way to sharing love is like a silent, steady stream always there, always flowing; Khushi celebrates love, as rain, as spring.

They aren't exactly opposites. Same, just different!

They are learning to live together; it's as though colors are merging.]

They have stood for their families, taken responsibilities, and the burdens. But when it comes to them, they've been alone.

Until now.

Now, when they finally know that they stand for each other. If Arnav needs anyone to stand for him, there is Khushi. In Arnav's absence, Khushi is Arnav for his Di and his Nani. She did for them what he'd do for them.

If Khushi needs anyone to stand for her, there is Arnav. In Khushi's place, Arnav has taken care of her family and provided for them. He did for them what she'd do for them.

For Khushi, Arnav's anger also is a form of his love for her. And she knows this.

For Arnav, Khushi's madness is also a form of her love for him. And he knows this.

They stand for others; but for them, it's only each other.

Arnav & Dadi Ji

Dadi Ji: If that's the case, then we don't need to go there.

Arnav: But you wanted to meet them.

Dadi Ji: You know a lot about them. Now, I'll meet them tomorrow at the shagun.

Arnav: What's wrong?

Good question, Arnav. You should ask this more often, and actually, you might consider taking it to the next level where you pursue the answer.

Dadi Ji and Arnav had this conversation in the hall, where Shyam now has visibility. Did he hear this?

If he did, he is aware of Pakki Kahani that Arnav told Dadi Ji. So, that doesn't look so bad - as of now.

However, he may have the same confusion as Arnav: What's wrong?

Dadi Ji actually smiled a wee little bit when the shagun ceremony was taking place.

Scary: Is she really happy that this is happening?

Scarier: Or is she happy that this is happening according to her dictates?

Scariest: Or is she happy - if she's in league with Snakewa - that a bigger mess is to be unfolded?

Oh well! Nannav, you naughty boy, you better show up on the right time, again!!

To Be or Not To Be...

... that is the question!

Potential Disasters

1. Mami Jaan: It seems as though Phatti Sari's marriage is taking place in EMIs - Easy Monthly Installments - every six months.

Goodness me! Another six months to the next step in married life..?

Me: Nannav, mere bhai! My condolences, Buddy!

2. Dadi Ji traps Arnav in his own words - I'd follow all rituals to get married to my wife again - to stop him from accompanying them on the shagun. She simply stresses that she's only telling him the right way. However, the real reason Arnav stays back is because he wants to marry Khushi.

The family did not support Arnav against Dadi Ji's decision; in fact they shushed the only support.

3. Mami Jaan calls GH a 'refugee camp'.

A refugee is someone who has had to flee for safety; someone who is displaced from their own place; someone who does not belong anywhere.

A camp is a temporary living space.

Ouch!

4. Mami Jaan: Mehendi repeat. Haldi repeat. Sangeet...

Bua Ji: Repeat. But what happened in sangeet last time, will not be repeated this time.

In the Sangeet last time, Khushi and Arnav had a challenge; Khushi teased Arnav and he laughed; Arnav danced with Khushi.

Mami Jaan cheated Bua Ji.

Erm... marriage repeat!?

5. Anjali: I promise you, Arnav and Khushi will not see each other after Haldi.

Anjali, must you say something so negative!!? The doctor advised you to 'take' preventives; not to 'be' a preventive!

6. Khushi: There's yet time to become 'Singh Raizada'.

Khushi wushi!

There are things you should speak, and you decide not to and give yourself a million reasons for the same.

There are things that you should be phobic to utter, but you go around declaring them as though there were none wiser than you!

7. Garima hiding from Dadi ji, but for how long!

Potential Enablers

1. Arnav: Khushi Kumari Gupta, I will make you Mrs. Arnav Singh Raizada before the contract duration is over.

2. Arnav: Who will stop me?

3. NK: Jo hua, so so gaya

Good advice. Let sleeping dogs lie!

But then, some rather alert ones should be put to sleep.

4. Arnav: Wait! I've come at the right time.

5. NK: Whoa! Arnav! You've come at the right time.

6. Arnav: Technically, I'm doing all you said.

7. NK: Good argument.

8. Bua ji: Nandkisore sab theek kare hain.

Preventive - the Anjali Factor

Anjali has promised Dadi Ji that Arnav and Khushi ji will not see each other post-haldi rasam.

Khushi has told Arnav that there is yet time for her to become a 'Singh Raizada'.

While Arnav is confidently asking the question - Who dare stop me? - his sister and his wife have come into an agreement of sorts.

Unaware of each other, Anjali has taken it upon herself that Arnav and Khushi won't see each other after haldi. She did so to pacify Dadi ji who was angry because Arnav showed up at the shagun ceremony.

That's a lot of Preventives.

A preventive is something that hinders or obstructs. It may be good if it prevents diseases or illnesses. It may be a problem if it slows down progress.

Some more possible preventives:

Arnav has promised himself that he'd give up his Khushi for his Di.

Khushi has promised Anjali that she'd ensure that no harm comes to her marriage or her husband.

So! What may be the scenario if Anjali is to be a preventive - which she has so graciously accepted to be?

Let's Rewind a little bit:

1. Khushi was ousted. Arnav went to meet her. Shyam entered.

Quite strange! Everyone seemed asleep when Arnav left, both in RM and in GH, the lights were turned off. It was late in the night.

2. Arnav came back. Everyone was awake, both in RM and in GH, the lights were turned on.

3. What changed? Shyam entered when Khushi was out, and Arnav was after her.

Is Shyam entering while Arnav is busy getting married? That would be a HUGE nivarak.

1. If Anjali becomes a preventive (because of Shyam):

>> Khushi has herself stopped Arnav from calling her a 'Singh Raizada' - Khushi is agreeing either with Anjali or because of her or for her sake.

>> Arnav is listening to Khushi, putting his point across.

2. While Anjali was making the promise to Dadi ji:

>> Arnav had already carried Khushi - showing his authority over her as his wife - in their bedroom (in GH)...

>> ...where Khushi stopped him, and he listened.

>> The choice to stop (at that name) is mutual.

3. Arnav and Khushi stopped, but both affirmed that Khushi belongs to Arnav.

Oh Boy! This is going to be the first twice wedded couple who'd stop at the Engagement! After all, there is yet time for becoming a 'Singh Raizada' for Khushi.

This, however, stands in contrast to Arnav's vow: He'd make her Mrs. Arnav Singh Raizada before the contract duration is over.

Though, even on the short term, Arnav would honor his Di's promise, so would Khushi.

Underground - the Garima Factor

Garima runned away!I mean, she ran away!

And just when she felt that the worst was over - there's Roka the next day.

I hope Garima knows what she is doing. If she is absent consistently, Dadi ji's doubts that have been pacified by Arnav might be raised to life again.

Garima is pretty much ready to evaporate into thin air at the mention of Dadi ji's name.

When Arnav calls at night to tell Khushi they're not coming, Garima doesn't even wait to hear it out. She tells Bua Ji to handle it because she's not well.

Later, she hides herself from Dadi ji. Perhaps, Dadi ji then knows Garima by face. If she does, how long can Garima hide herself?

Khushi ki Ma akhir kab tak khair manayegi!

[Interestingly, Khushi is often referred to as the sacrificial lamb!]

On the Lighter Side

1. Dunno about you all, but I LOVED Shashi babua's expressions today:

>> When he heard Dadi ji spout off about rasams

>> When he saw Anjali alone - that is, no Shyam

>> When Arnav shows up

>> When Arnav carries Khushi inside

Shashi is rather proud of his son-in-law!!

So, are we!!

2. I s'pose by this time, Arnav must be wondering - how many times must I bring her back: challengingly, romantically, emotionally, contractually, legally, forcefully, and now, ritually!

I s'pose yeah, he must ask - Are you ready, dear! Coz this is the final straw!!

3. Anjali... cough at night and bump in the morning!?

That's better than 4G!

4. LOVED LOVED LOVED and Absolutely LOVED the interaction between NK and Bua Ji!

Oh! He still has nightmares.

LOVED the way she teased him.

LOVED the way he stepped back and asked Mami jaan to meet Bua ji too!

NK and Bua Ji seriously hit off well!

Someone should let them loose on Dadi Ji or even Shyam - Arnav wouldn't even need to do anything in the matter.

Another addition to this pack could be Mama Ji. Where is that man hiding?

5. Showgun ready?

Yeh! Someone needs to show their guns - whether they do it in Hindi or in English is yet to be seen.

6. Arnav *to Khushi*: *big smile* Hi!

NK: Nannav, you naughty boy!

Fandom: WE AGREE!! Aww!

Precap

Khushi and Bua Ji are not happy that Garima was not back in time for shagun.

Garima is relieved to learn that all went well. But then, the news of the Roka planned for the next day rings terror around her.

On the Side

Weird Connect

Time for some weird connect!

(By the way, this is purely in humor. Any resemblance to any track, sequence, foreshadow is purely unintentional.)

NK: Jo sach hai, wohi moochh hai.

Weird Connect 1:

Moochh!! The only chap who has something that can be rationally called a moochh is Shashi babua. (Arnav, Akash, and Shyam are simply too lazy to clean up every day and maintain stubbles!)

But I digress!

Anyhow, Shashi is the only moochh around ... I mean, the man around ... who is connected with truth. Way to go, Bau ji!

Weird Connect 2:

Moochh! The symbol of machismo, bravery, gallantry... bla bla bla bla bla!

(Too bad no one told them that the age of chivalry was dead and forgotten!)

So, the one who stands by the truth is truly the Man!

Shyam - that hurts you in the worst manner possible! Yeah.

Words/Terms Coined during WIL

I didn't realize how many terms I coined while writing the WIL.

Here are some of them (on request of a few Buddies) and am gonna be adding to this list when I remember some old terms or coin new ones!

Khushi Wushi: endearing term for Khushi

Arnavology: Study on the subject of Arnav Singh Raizada

Arnoglyphs: equal to Heiroglyphs - language of Arnav's many expressions understandable only by Khushi Wushi

Fandom: IPK Fans

GH-ians: Gupta Family

Mami Jaan: Mami ji

Official Interferor: Anjali

Bournevita/Complan boy: Akash

Arnavophobia: Khushi's fear of Arnav wanting to kill her

Arnav during Payash wedding night: Mad man on the loose

Grandmother of all Misunderstandings: Dadi Ji
