Are our Elders dreams really a BURDEN for us?

Yes.. i need to ask this...!

At the instant i heard the convo of BB-DB... i found myself initially excited...and happy coz .. what BB told DB...as in to 'Back off' and give 'AshNi space' was apt and important..!! A while later.. i culdn help but wonder.. have we really started to consider.. or believe.. that the 'dreams' 'desires' 'wishes' and 'expectations' of our Elders. .are today.. nothing more than a 'mere BURDEN' ????

Every choice has an implication (as Shyama had said) ... and someone gets elated.. and someone disappointed when those choices are not as per our wishes..! DB had a wish to see her great grand child... ! Yes.. agreed.. she or probably anyone else doesnt hv the right to impose their wishes on Nidhi or anyone else for that matter... but to think that.. 'dreams of the elder generation need to be retired' so that 'the new gen can see its new dreams'' is a tad too upsetting and i believe..the clear reflection of our Society's bitter truth wherein ...so many young gen.. who leave their parents for good and never to return..!

Are we becoming .. far too selfish and self-centred .. n may be a bit insensitive?

And i m NOT CALLING Nidhi or any young gen such things. .so PLEASE.. dont jump on that..this is a topic of debate.. as to whether.. BB was right to say... 'Old dreams need to retire to make way for new ones?'

gud topic..
well I would say no not a burden but the older gen needs to understand that the new gen has some aspirations...
as for dreams ..they are unlimited ... till yesterday DBs dream was to see nidhi married ..now when she is married she wants to see her wid a baby..once she sees her wid a baby, she would wanna see another baby (if 1st time nidhi has a boy ,she would want a girl ) ... then she would want them to see them gng to school..n it goes on...this is true not just for DB but most of the people her age ..very few are as understanding as BB...

as long a person lives ,he or she would dream.. but there has to be a place where the aspirations of the younger gen and dreams of the older gen meet..
as for DB ,iam neither surprised not angry at what she is doing ..she goes on and on abt something she wants and refuses to understand the word No .. cant help it.

Tanu very valid points raised and it is a sensitive issue, where one can understand the needs and desires of both.
At every stage in our life we reach cross-roads, where some crucial decisions have to be made. Some may benefit us while others may be taken for the happiness of our near and dear.
While both dreams are to be respected, it is important for both generations to respect one another.
I personally believe that you can not make another person learn from your life or mistakes. Every one has to live and learn.

Thanx hun for such detailed reply..🤗

Agree wid u dreams r unlimited n we as humans hv unlimited aspirations...n yes we need to find a common ground where th young n old can coexist 😊

DB is obdurate.. but arent many folks like that in real life too?? I guess.. time n patience is the only solution to such things... !

@bold - very well said 👏

Thanks for the detailed reply 🤗
Agree.. i believe life is a tightrope walk between ... the happiness of urs and happiness of others... practically every choice u make.. has to be after keeping a balance on both sides.. if u dun intend to trip! 😳

good post tanu ...

n NO their dreams r not burden n neither we r selfish ..its all just matter of time ...we do so many things what our elder want us to do ...in fact we have grown up doing things acc to their wish as when we r young n we r not intelligent enough to take decisions on our own ...but when we grow up we can take decisions n try to live life acc to own ...n at that time elders should let young ones go out of their hands so that they can live life acc to their way ...n they should keep their blessings with their children .

Life is like a cycle...where youngster fills the places left by elders ...n elders also should leave their things so that youngsters can come n take the charge ...

In our homes when we go out n ask our dadi / nani to come with us ...they simply refuse n say that humne bahut ghoom liya now its ur time to go n have fun .

but ya in some homes ..elders do find it difficult to leave their places n want to rule till the end ..like some saas who cant let their home rule acc to bahu wishes ..n here conflict arises .
in ktlk situation is same ..DB doesnt want to get retire n want nidhi to still move ahead acc to her wishes ..no matter that she is married now ...which is wrong ...so for me BB was right when he said that its time for them to retire their wishes n let their children live with their wishes 😊

Tanu ji, very thoughtful pov... Liked reading it very much.. I dnt think elders dreams or wishes are burden on gen nxt.. Fact is all dreams & wishes can't be met in real life.. Destiny mein bhi honi chahiye.. Bt there are also gen nxt personal dreams, ambitions wishes etc.. Its a long process, to be honest.. A person can't be ride on luck everyday.. To relate an intetresting topic... just few weeks back Rahul dravid hd come down to Goa.. He said to young lads.. Dnt go to grab every opportunity, set a ur eyes on one thing.. Hv a goal in life... Bcoz trying to statisfy everyone or trying to grab to every opportunity will take u nowhere...

DB's dream is to see a happily settled Nidhi... Its a package... Marriage + children +Good house + wealth...

So nothing wrong in expecting everything for her grand child... need not retire...

But, since DB belongs to the older generation, she has a different definition from Nidhi to achieve the above...

DB would understand if someone (BB should have done that) tells her properly...
We have seen before .. once or twice, when she visited hospital to see Nidhi, she proudly telling others that her grand daughter is a daktarni... that means, though she puts down her naukri on the face, she definitely will be proud if Nidhi achieves something great..😊

Wow.. that was a fab one Shikha.. good pov from the younger gen side...!! 👏

Indeed.. there are homes where elders have happily relegated their dominance so that the younger ones can thrive..as their are homes where many refuse to leave the reins ..!

The only key aspect is that.. the relegation has to be a happy one.. if the wishes of elders are respected .. and views of the younger ones are presented rationally and politely .. it mite help to keep things happy .. ! 😳
