Just saw this pic in another thread
Omg. they looked hideous 🤢
I didn't even know Genelia debuted in Bollywood until recently. I had always thought she started off in Telugu film industry.
But I guess this film didn't do well because she stuck to South films for a really long time until JTYJN. She once said in an interview that JTYJN changed her life. That statement really annoyed me because it was Bommarillu that changed her life in my opinion. It was a super hit down South and she really got noticed after that. She also made an impact with 'Boys' which was her first South film, right after her Bollywood debut. It was so wrong of her to completely ignore her South career in the interview as if it means nothing.
No wonder in the Telugu film King, there is a scene where Trisha and Nagarjuna are in the theatre watching JTYJN. Naharjuna asks Trisha "Isn't this a Telugu girl?" when Genelia is on screen and Trisha says "No, it's a Northern girl acting in Telugu movies."
At first I was like, why did they say that?! But after reading that interview of Genelia where she's basically belittled and scorned the South, I agree with them.
She's such a hypocrite in this regard. When her Bollywood films don't do well, she rushes South to make films there. And the South gladly accepts her each time. Just between 2003-2006, immediately after her Hindi debut, the South gave her 11 films!
But if you ask her what changed her life, it's JTYJN, because clearly only Bollywood matters.
