Anandi slowly opened her eyes and realized that Shiv was already facing the opposite direction. So she quickly stood up and picked up her dress from the bed. She turned to go back to the washroom and was a bit relieved that she wasn't being watched. But she felt something else too; a feeling which shocked herself- disappointment! Disappointment to see that Shiv, her husband, was not looking at her.

She again started thinking why really did he agree to marry her; a question she got used to asking herself many times a day. "Kya sach me unhone mujhpar ehsaan jataane k liye mujhse shaadi ki?", she thought. She was not sure whether Shiv loved her or not. But she was sure of one thing, she could not let herself fall in love again; not with this great "collector sahab" who married her. She considered Shiv as her best friend. She could share anything with him without the fear of being ridiculed or criticized. But no, not love; she just won't love him! And why should she? Did he ever tell her that he loved her? No! She would get the hints from his actions, the way he treated her, but yet she would ignore them all. She wasn't ready to accept that he loved her. She really didn't feel like anyone would love her so much!

Anandi kept staring at his back. Again thinking why he wasn't looking at her, "Am I not beautiful enough?"

She remembered how her Jagya used to stare at her, his eyes never willing to look anywhere else''.how he used to help her tie the strings of her choli''the way he used to say," tu bohot phootri lag rahi he Anandi"'' Tears were already running down her cheeks'..

Shiv on the other hand was hurt that Anandi still didn't trust him. The way she was covering herself, trying to block his view pained him. He so much wanted to hold her and look deep into her eyes. He wanted to tell her how much he loved her; that he didn't marry her out of any ehsaan-rubbish that she thought. But he decided not to tell her; instead he wanted his actions to speak for itself. He knew that one day, when she would be ready, she will have no choice but to feel his love and love him back. He was sure that would happen someday. She anyways needed time, what would be better than letting herself fall in love with him?...

Absence of any noise made Shiv turn back again. He saw Anandi staring at him, she seemed to be lost in thought, her dress in her hands and she was still towel-clad. He noticed her tears and got worried. He got up and went towards her. She was still lost in thought, her eyes unfocused. He placed his hands on her bare shoulders and slightly shook her. She jerked and came back to her senses. She immediately stepped back, apparently shocked by his sudden touch. But her stepping back was way too back and she fell on the bed and that made her scream. Shiv was worried that her screaming was creating a real problem. He quickly shut her mouth with his palm and when doing that his hands slightly rubbed her chest over the towel. That made her gasp. She tried freeing herself again and that made Shiv lose his balance. He was so tall that for shutting her mouth he was already bending way too much, and then her struggle made him fall right on top of her. This time he got even more worried whether she got hurt. He knew she was too small to take his weight.

He got up instantly but regretted it,

"AAAHHH UHH HUH"

One of the hooks from his Kurta had managed to hook up few threads of Anandi's towel. He got up and her towel undid itself and that was too much for poor Anandi and she screamed. He quickly dropped himself on her again shutting her mouth.

This time his fall made Anandi gasp more, as his lips had almost touched hers. She got goose bumps. Shiv felt her change in reaction. She wasn't fighting anymore. So he looked at her worried that she might be too hurt to fight. But no; she seemed to be comfortable with him. He tentatively stroked her cheek with his fingers and she closed her eyes. Her breathe was getting heavier.

Shiv slowly moved his hands over her hands. They were so smooth. He came back to her shoulders. He slowly moved to her shoulders and kissed her there. She had kept her eyes closed. She couldn't open them. She couldn't think and was going blank.

And then suddenly Jagya's face flashed before her. She opened her eyes and pushed Shiv. Though he was too heavy to be moved, he felt her push. He stopped and immediately got up, this time holding her towel, to avoid whatever happened before. He felt very angry at himself for what he had done. He could see the hurt on Anandi's face, her eyes were moist and before he knew she started crying. She shut her eyes tightly as if to stop crying.

"I'm sorry Anandi !!" was all that he could say. He found himself at loss of words. "What the hell was I doing!!!" he thought. He was praying to disappear in thin air instead of having to stand there like a statue. But he wanted her to stop crying, he couldn't see her like that'

He sat on the bed next to her and said, "Anandi, please aap aise mat roiye. I'm really sorry'.mera koi galat irada nai tha. Mene aapko rote hue dekha, to bas aapse puchne aaya ki hua kya? Mene jo kuch bi kiya uske liye me maafi chaahta hu" .

Hearing this Anandi stopped crying and got up saying," Aapko maafi maangne ki ya kisi bi baat k liye sharminda hone ki koi zarurat nai he. Aapne koi galti nahi ki. Aur aap mere pati he, aap mujhse maafi maange, ye mujhe acha nahi lagta."

Shiv was happy hearing all this'"chalo kam se kam aapne muhje apna pati to maana!' me khud thoda confused tha ki mene aap hi se shaadi kiya tha ya kisi aur se" he chuckled and got up feeling a bit lighter.

Anandi was a bit surprised at his timing to crack jokes. He looked at Anandi, who was looking at him, amused. "Vese raat bohot ho chuki he. Aap jaldi se sone ki taiyyari kijiye" he said pointing her dress which was now on the floor. "Ha agar aapko aise hi sona he to mujhe koi problem nai he" he further added with a wink.

Anandi blushed and quickly picked up her dress and hurried into the washroom.

Shiv on the other hand, was relieved she didn't shout at him. He had expected that and had already braced himself for a big storm. He smiled and wished himself a good night and fell asleep, this time he actually slept.
