There was a slight breeze as Arnav and I walked down the road. Just when we had finished dinner, Arnav annouced that he wanted to talk to me. Khushi had stared at us, but Arnav ignored it and took my hand and pulled me to the street. I looked back and saw that Khushi was fuming with anger. Oh great! I thought, but I knew it will be fine, because by the end of the night, Khushi will get her the happiness she deserves!
"Arnav, I know."
"You know what?"
"I know you love Khushi. Trust me, I do."
Arnav sighed and looked straight ahead, a smile on his face. I knew he was thinking about her. "But you do know you have to tell her that, right? She still doesn't know."
"Hmm.. I want to, but that won't make her come back to me!"
"Well, have you tried telling her that you want her to be with you forever? You haven't right."
Arnav stopped and looked at me. "Trust me, deep down she knows you love her. But she is scared. You have broken her heart way too many times. She is scared to even hope now." Arnav turned away, but I touched his arm.
"It's ok. Don't fear when I am here."
Arnav raised his eyebrows and smiled at me, teasingly.
"Arnav, I know you can talk to her only when she is sleeping".
"What the.. how do you know.."
"Look, I have an idea."
Arnav folded his arms. "I am listening."
"Remember Khushi's plan to get Payal to realize her love for Akash?"
"What the.." Arnav's anger was evident. "Don't expect me to pretend as though I am going to jump off a cliff'"
I giggled. "Of course not' and Khushi will never believe it.. she knows you too well to know that you would never do something so filmy!" I paused and moved close to him. "Do you trust me?"
"Do I have an option? I know you are going to tell me your plan anyways." Arnav smiled. I giggled.
"Khushi.." I screamed, running into her room. She looked up from her bed, where she was folding clothes.
"What?"
"It's Arnav. He fainted."
"What?" She jumped up from the bed.
"I called the ambulance, but I thought I should let you know. Come with me fast!" Before I could finish it, Khushi ran out of the house and into the street.
"Where is he.. ?"
"Near the temple.. "
Khushi ran and ran into the night. I tried to follow her, but she was too fast for me.
Finally the temple was visible in the distance.
"Stop!" I screamed. "He was somewhere here".
"What? Where?" She looked around and then at me worried. I smiled and pointed in the direction of the temple. Khushi looked there and suddenly lights appeared. The entire path to the temple was lit with fairy lights. The path was covered with rose petals.
Khushi looked back at me and I had hidden myself behind a tree. She turned around and walked towards the temple, through the rose path.
I took out my laptop to watch the special episode!
Khushi walked up the stairs. The temple was filled with lit diyas. Khushi smiled, her eyes filled with tears, as she looked around and enjoyed the decorations. Suddenly there was a breeze. She turned around and saw Arnav standing behind her. Khushi looked confused and stood still, not knowing what to do. Arnav walked to her and took her hands in his.
"Khushi I want to tell you something." Khushi raised her eyebrows. She gulped and started to say something, but Arnav shook his head. "No.. " He smiled and remembered what I had told him.
Flashback. "So you can't say anything when Khushi is awake and can respond to you. So simple, ask her to close her eyes and not say a word!" I said, grinning.
Arnav looked at Khushi and continued, "But before I say anything, I want you to close your eyes and shut up. Not even a word from you". Khushi raised her eyebrows in shock and started to say something, but Arnav put his hand on her mouth. "I said, shut up." He said through clenched teeth. She looked at him wide-eyed. "And close your eyes." She closed her eyes quickly. Arnav smiled and took his hand from her mouth and took her hands in his.
"Khushi, ever since the first time I met you, I have never stopped thinking about you. I know I have hurt you a lot, but I did that because I was scared, scared that I will get hurt if I get close to you. I tried so hard to hate you, but I couldn't. Every time I saw tears in your eyes, I was crying too, Khushi. I tried so hard to push you away, but you always found a way to come back to me. The day of Akash's wedding, I was going to tell you why it mattered to me if you were in that ambulance or whether you were marrying someone else. I am terribly sorry that I forced you to get married to me, but I swear I never ever would have tried to separate Payal and Akash. In fact, Khushi, the contract doesn't matter to me, but you do! Everything about you matters to me. Your happiness, your craziness, your pain, your pranks, your jalebi cravings, your comfort, your family.. every thing. I can't live without you, Khushi and I don't want to spend another day away from you". Khushi's lips trembled and Arnav touched her lips. "I will make sure that these lips always have a smile on them. I will try my best to give you all the happiness that you deserve. I promise that I will never ever hurt you ever again!" He took her hands in his. "Khushi, I wanted to ask you whether you could be with me forever, as my wife. If your answer is yes, then I will let you stay back at Buaji's house tonight and then come back tomorrow, make you my wife in front of our families and take you back home with me as my bride." Khushi smiled, but remained quiet.
Ok, I didn't tell you my reactions' because I didn't want to interrupt Arnav's speech. Of course, I was crying and crying, sitting behind the tree, with my laptop on my lap and a box of tissues next to me, crumpled tissues lying all around me. I blew my nose into a tissue, when Arnav continued.
"Khushi?"Arnav looked worried. "Khushi? Say something."
Khushi raised her eyebrows. "Am I allowed to speak now?" Arnav smiled. "Yes, you may open your eyes and your mouth now."
Khushi opened her eyes and burst into tears. She threw her arms around Arnav and cried. I shut my laptop and leaned against the tree, and burst into tears, tears of happiness.
"Chotte? You want to get married again?"
"Yes, Nani. 6 months ago, you never got to see my wedding. Khushi and I want to get married in front of everyone this time".
Nani touched Arnav's arms and tears filled her eyes as she said, "But how.. I mean.. with everything that happened'"
"I know, Nani. That's why we don't want anything grand. We will just do the pheras in the temple, if that is okay with everyone."
"that's perfect, Chotte."
"Nani, Di... Can you.."
"She will be happy for you, Chotte. She and I always wanted this for you, for you to get married to Khushi bitiya. You never know, this wedding might be exactly what she needs to go back to her old self." Arnav smiled.
I picked up the phone, as it rang. "It is all set".
"Good", I smiled and looked at Khushi, who was trying to pacify a very excited Buaji and Garima in the kitchen. She had just told them that she and Arnav wanted to get married in front of everyone at the temple.
"You will be coming tomorrow, right?" Arnav asked. "You have to be there. After all you are the reason this was possible."
I smiled, "Of course.." I paused and then said, "But on one condition'"
I giggled as I watched SajanLuv14 dance with NK as we walked to Khushi's house as part of the marriage procession.
The wedding was simple, but beautiful. Arnav looked ravishing in a black sherwani and Khushi looked gorgeous in her bright red lehenga. They had tears in their eyes and a smile on their faces as Arnav tied the mangalsutra around her and put the sindoor on her forehead. Everyone was shocked, but then started giggling and smiling, when Arnav leaned in and kissed Khushi's cheek after they were pronounced as husband and wife.
"Chotte. No we can't let you go to your room. You need to pay us first." Anjali said, giggling as she and Payal stood on the stairs, in front of Arnav. Arnav smiled and took out his checkbook from his pocket and handed her a signed blank check. "There you go, Di. Now can I go?"
I giggled as I watched them. I sneaked into Arnav's bedroom in the meantime. The room was beautiful; it was filled with lit candles and roses. There were garlands of jasmine and rose hanging from above the bed and on the bed sat a gorgeous, smiling and blushing Khushi. I tiptoed towards her and touched her arm. She got startled and gasped.
"What the.." she exclaimed.
"I just wanted to make sure you knew what to do tonight."
"what do you mean?"
I hit my hand against my head, frustrated. "Well for starters, when Arnav comes close to you, please, I beg you, don't move away. Let him do what he wants to do and you just follow his lead, ok?"
Khushi looked confused. "What .. I don't.. "
"Khushi, this is your suhaag raat.. you watch movies.. what do you think happens on suhaag raat." Khushi raised her eyebrows.
"Finally. Seriously, what do you have to do in this house to spend some time with my wife." Arnav closed the door, turned around and said, "What the.." He was shocked seeing Khushi and me sitting on the bed.
"What are you doing here? What now?"
I stood up smiling. "Before I left, I had to give you some suhaag raat tips." I giggled and Arnav fumed with anger. He stepped forward and said, "I don't think I need any advice about' "
"Oh really?" I folded my arms. "Have you locked the door?"
Arnav raised his eyebrows. Khushi giggled.
I smiled. "Ok, so yes, every time you are alone with Khushi and in the mood for some intense rabba ve.." Arnav and Khushi raised their eyebrows and looked at each other. "please lock the door. Also switch off or put your cell phones on silent, mind you, not vibrate mode. Put on some loud music, so that you won't be distracted by people outside and also, no one outside will hear the noises coming from the room." Arnav had a naughty smile on his face; Khushi blushed. "Also, I beg you. When you are in a mood, please go for it .. don't tease each other." I thought, and don't tease us! "By moving towards each other slowly and looking into each other's eyes."
Arnav folded his arms. "Ok. Are you done? Can I get some time alone with my wife now?" I giggled and turned to Khushi. I hugged her and turned around. I walked to Arnav and extended my hand. "Don't I get a hug?" Arnav asked, with a naughty smile on his face. My eyes widened with shock and I gulped. I looked at Khushi, but she had a smile on her face. Arnav took my hands in his and said, "Thank you for everything!" I nodded and looked at Khushi again; she had tears in her eyes. I turned around and walked to the door.
"Wait", I stopped hearing Arnav's voice. I turned around.
"Who are you?"
I smiled. "I am an Arshian, a true loyal Arshi fan". Arnav and Khushi raised their eyebrows, looking confused. "Good luck to both of you. We Arshi fans wish you a long and happy married life, filled with nokjhoks and rabba ve's. Bye."
"Wait." It was Khushi this time. "When can we see you again? You will come to visit us, right?"
I smiled and closed the door shut. I turned around, smiled and said, "Soon!" with a twinkle in my eye. I giggled and walked away.
The end?
