Khushi lay awake in bed as the moon light flitttered through the window adding a magical glow to the room, she tried to fall asleep but her mind seemed to be wandering through all the things that had changed, everything that had happened.
The stars lit up the tiny cave by the sea where Arnav had set up another magical dinner for her, as the months passed the wounds of the past healed slowly but miraculously and in time Khushi had even agreed to go meet the family. She sat on the mattress and watched the moon shine brightly outside and smiled at Arnav lugging in the picnic basket, her mind drifted to how happy it had been going back home. She couldn't help shake her head and smile at how surprised everyone was initially and then the endless tears of joy followed, she was where she was meant to be, at home.
Khushi smiled to herself and felt a feeling of warmth wash over her at being back home, she was happy and content. Arnav snapped his fingers before her 'Where are you lost?' he asked with a gentle smile, Khushi simply shook her head and kissed his cheek. He looked at her warmly surprised and then showed her the lovely table he had just set up. Khushi laughed out loud at the pretty arrangement, who would have ever taught that the great Arnav Singh Raizada would turn out to be the secret closet romantic 'It's beautiful she said with a smile'.
They walked along the shore quietly after dinner which as usual contained only what she loved best, silence never seemed be awkward to them, it was a beautiful silence that binded their hearts which ran much deeper than words. She played with his fingers and smiled at the happiness he brought by just being next to her. Khushi looked up at him when he suddenly stopped walking, she raised an eyebrow to ask him if everything was alright. His eyes seemed to have a warm, eager and anxious look in them, she wondered what he was thinking.
He walked slowly and stood before her and smiled 'Khushi' he said and paused and looked down ' I have never been good with words and this is just so difficult for me, but you have to know what you mean to me' he then slowly looked up into her eyes ' I can never thank you enough for letting me in again, I had been such a big jerk and you just quietly forgave. When you first fell into my arms I had no option but to push you away because you threatened to bring out that part of which I had crushed and buried deep where I would never find it, I kept hurting you and somehow you magically came back to me. I could never give you what you deserved, trust and I still can't seem to forgive myself for it but you took me back in after all those years of being alone.' he smiled at her warmly as her eyes filled with tears and he continued again 'When I saw you again on that street, it seemed like all my prayers were finally being answered, you seemed different, the sparkling eyes gone and the extent of damage I had done hit me straight in the face once again, slowly you came back to me, the girl that I always loved and the only one I ever will' he said softly and then slowly went down on one knee.
Khushi looked down into his brown eyes, the moon light reflecting in them and heightening the love held in them, her heart almost stopped beating and she stood frozen and overwhelmed when he slowly whispered with the wind
'Will you marry me?'.
Khushi felt happiness flood through her as that wonderful night played once again in her mind she sighed and closed her eyes as she felt familiar hands wrap around her and pull her close, the warmth still present, the love still alive. She buried herself in his arms and smiled at how time had flown so fast since that beautiful day two years ago.
Arnav looked at her sleepily and wondered why his wife was still awake, he tilted her head up and held her chin and asked her gently if everything was alright, she simply nodded with a smile and moved up and kissed him gently on his lips, he looked down at her and smiled and then closed his eyes as she sucked on his bottom lip and coaxed his mouth open, he pulled her close and held her by her waist, his mouth moving slowly yet passionately over hers. Khushi found herself drwoning again in the magic that only he could bring along and she let the familiar feeling take over her as the moonlight bathed their bodies in an ethereal glow and for the millionth time she sighed contently at having given way to a new beginning.
