Chandni tried to dial her mother's number but Meenakshi wasn't picking up the phone...

Unable to focus on anything Chandni slowly closed her eyes but the cool air from outside blowed across her face made her open her eyes and she felt drowsy...

All of a sudden she could make out a shadow imprecisely standing in front of her, Chandni widely opened her eyes in shock... she wanted to run, wanted to scream... slowly the shadow turned into a big white mist... indistinctly transparent...muddled at the complete figure in front of her...

she had never seen this unusual scene ever before...frightened by the sudden structure her body went cold unable to even move from her seat...

With trembled hands Chandni twisted the car keys to start the engine...she tried several times before she felt enervated '...anxiously looked around for help, but there wasn't a single body around to even hear her voice...

Chandni touched her sweaty forehead... she slowly opened the door, with her eyes fixed on the white shadow...she closed the door of the car and stepped outside...

another instant she scuttled towards the town... it wasn't possible for her to run with high heels...she darted across the valley... took off the heels and scurried '.without looking behind, she finally reached the outskirts of the town... almost unable to breathe she fell on her knees and closed her eyes...

"stars have chosen him to look after the ghosts...and their well being" Manohar muttered while Pratima looked all confused...

"Saab...are you talking to me??" she picked up the plate in front of him...

Manohar smiled "thank you, no I was just talking to myself...just amused at the old man..."

Pratima kept the plate in the kitchen sink and turned around to see Kaka furiously staring at Manohar...

"Pratima, don't you think the old man should visit some temple and pray to Gods, rather than thinking about ghosts and evil things..." he stretched himself while getting up from the chair...

Pratima didn't answer, rather mien at Kaka...Manohar scanned at her eyes going haywire...

"oh, Kaka...good evening..." Manohar gave a broad smile...

Kaka looked at him with despair and made a face... "my evening or morning can never be good with your presence around..."

"why??? because I am a human being and you love ghosts and evils around you..." mischievously smiling at Kaka...

"no..." Kaka shouted... "because you are even worse then them" and walked outside...

"really!!!" Manohar muttered '..

Chandni opened her eyes and frantically contemplated around... her throat was dry... she saw a small grocery store on her right and lifted herself to reach the store...she walked sluggishly down the road... careful with each step she took that didn't help, her vision was hazy for few seconds...

"one...water...water bottle..." she was out of breath...hardly able to speak anything...

thirstily she drank the whole bottle in one go and took a deep breath... petrified at the incident that made her timorous...

She rested on a small bench outside the store completely whacked... she looked pale...speechless, moreover tremendously terrified... her senses weren't working...she couldn't think or hear anything...

After few minutes...when she realized herself sitting outside the small store...she immediately wore her sandals...but her thoughts were continuously streaming...

"what happened" a voice distracted her out of her thoughts...

she looked at him with all nervousness unable to describe what her eyes had seen, she took another deep breath...

"Veer...i '.i..." she was about to say when he cut her in between

"well I can understand"

she glared at him...every time something happens because of him...and now he understands... "what???...what do you understand??" she yelled...

he sat next to her... "Chandni...how many times do I have to repeat??" it looked as if it was his final warning to her for yelling at him... Chandni found herself helpless in front of him and in front of the things happening in her life...

"fine...i am sorry, for yelling..." she said softly without regretting from inside... she wanted to blast at him...to hit him but she knew there was no use, instead she would dig a well of troubles for herself... she smiled a little while he was staring at her...

though nervous but she tried to smile "...i '.i want to tell you something..."

He knew there was something troubling her...Veer could never stand anything that would hurt her...he placed his hand on hers... "what is it??"

She knew it was hard to believe in her story...but if she doesn't tell he would think she's weird and must be mentally upset... she was about to open her mouth when another thought struck her '.if she told him she had seen a ghost, he would definitely laugh at her and would declare her mad... that she would never prefer...

"i...i was missing you Veer..." she said helplessly...hiding the real story behind her running through the valley towards the town...

After few minutes... he hold her hand tightly that made Chandni relax...

she looked at her charismatic man , his handsome features were enticing her towards him making her forget everything around her... she wanted to embrace him tightly in her arms... another second without thinking she wrapped her hands around his strong arm...

Veer knew something was really disturbing her and Chandni was avoiding to tell him the truth "where's you car??"

that was a sudden question that Chandni wasn't prepared to reply... a quick answer entered her mind "you know my car is old...it stops working after few days...i am thinking to change..."

"come I will drop you home..." he said while caressing her hand...

Chandni smiled and nodded her head...

"Well I know reason , why do you want to invite all of them ..." Shama blabbed...

Kamini was least bothered to answer her... "do you remember that insect bite??"

Shama made a weird face at Kamini's thoughts and ideas... "so?? what's so special about it???"

"not special...but that could be a sign of evil...let Chandni come home...i will make her sit in this prayer..." Kamini kept all the fruit and flowers on the table...

Shama looked at her sister in despair "you should get yourself checked from a doctor...God help you"

Kamini wasn't happy with Shama's reply "you don't know anything...so stop telling me to check myself...i am doing the right thing...you know it's a dangerous time for Chandni...i am only trying to reduce the problems that she might face..."

"the biggest problem is that poor Chandni can't escape you" Shama retorted back...

Kamini furiously stared at her until she heard the door bell... "go open the door...rather than poking you nose in my work..."

Shama frustratedly unlocked the door "Chandni...Veer..." Veer smiled at her... "What a pleasant surprise Veer..." Shama was happy to see him...

"come...come...i will get something to drink" Shama was about to enter the kitchen when Veer murmured in Chandni's ear "i wish I could get some whiskey"

making Chandni on the warpath... "you don't think about anything else, right ???" she whispered back

"who wants to think when you are around..." he winked at her...driving her hopping mad...

"i wish I could mix poison in your whiskey" Chandni replied back softly not letting anybody else hear their conversation...

Veer rubbed her t-shirt from behind "sweetheart whose gonna love you if I die...??" his hands felt her bra straps under her t-shirt...

"don't touch me..." she said whispering angrily at him...before she could retort back he opened the hooks off her bra '.. she was shocked at his action... "how dare you open my..." she couldn't believe he could open the straps with one hand and that too in a second... "how did you???"

"i am an expert you see" he said making her completely infuriated... and winked again at the poor frame who stood helplessly watching his activities...

"here Veer...have some juice..." Shama offered him a glass...

Veer sipped and looked at the angry beauty who wanted to kill him... she was about to leave to her room...

"Chandni...beta come here..." Kamini smiled at Veer who was standing next to her... "Veer beta...you please have a seat..."

Chandni made a bad face "let me freshen up at least..."

"no this is important...come now..." Kamini offered some sweets to Veer... "you know Veer...this prayer is very important for her...you must be thinking why this old granny is doing all this"

Veer smiled at Kamini "of course not...i think its really good...and Chandni should sit in this prayer..." making Chandni even more violent and Kamini happy...

Shama added "well this is too much...you know Veer...why Kamini didi is performing this prayer...???"

Veer looked curious "no...but I would love to hear the problem...may be I can also help..."

Kamini was so happy with Veer "you are such a good boy...now you tell me Veer...Chandni came back with a big mark on her neck, she said it was an insect bite...but I am hundred percent sure it was a sign of evil..."

Veer almost choked on his orange juice. Sputtering and coughing at Kamini's words... he couldn't laugh at her...thus looked at Chandni standing mutely hearing the weird things... and controlled his laughter...

"really!!" he simply pretended too shocked...

Kamini was glad that finally someone has come to hear her predictions and not making fun of her... "If you see that mark, you will be horrified...it looks so dangerous...as if the evil has attacked her..."

Chandni wanted to shoot everyone around her "i am not well...let me sleep for sometime..." she was about to take a step when Kamini asked her to sit in the prayer...

Veer and Shama looked at Chandni who reluctantly followed Kamini towards the small temple...

Kamini's eyes swiftly fell on her skirt...and a jacket around her waist "what kind of combination is this???"

Chandni rolled her eyes... "you don't let me change, and on top of that you are complaining about my skirt Grandma..."

"of course I will...how many times I have told you not to wear these skirts...i don't like them, now better go and wear that white suit salwar that I gave you...go fast" she demanded angrily...

Chandni resentfully, stormed out in high dudgeon... "when will I get some life.???" she murmured...feeling extremely upset and frustrated all day...precipitously she remembered what she had seen, even the slightest thought of the mist made her heart in her mouth... this time she escaped the most dangerous phase of her life...but her mind still captured all the scene that made her feel terrified...
