Mazher Sayedd
Mazher Sayedd, who plays Samar in Zee's Saat Phere, was caught in an awkward situation a few days ago.

Passers-by were surprised to see the actor at Bandra Reclamation with his Hyundai Accent stalled on the road.

Just when the actor was trying to figure out what had gone wrong, he was overwhelmed by the response he received from passers-by.

"I was on my way to South Mumbai when my car suddenly stopped bang in the middle of the road, just before the path veers towards the Bandra-Mahim Link road. I had no clue what had gone wrong as the engine just went kaput."

Car seva

What could have been a nightmare being stranded on the road turned out to be a lesson to learn for Sayyedd.

"That so-called survey about Mumbai being the rudest city in the world is all hogwash. I had barely opened the boot of my car that there were so many passers-by who came to help. They helped me push the car to the side of the road. Passing motorists also stopped to enquire what was happening. I was truly touched by the gesture of these kind souls."

Sayedd had to wait for almost an hour before his mechanic arrived to fix the car. Apparently, the carburettor had overheated and there was no water in the car. "For the last few days, I'd been driving the car to the Saat Phere shoot and back. This was another lesson to learn: take care of your wheels before it stops you in your tracks!"

Do-gooder

Incidentally, Mazher had replaced Anand Suryavanshi in Saat Phere soon after the show's launch in October last year. Suryavanshi apparently had reservations about his role vis--vis the rest. As for his character Samar, he says, "Even though Samar's wife, Kaveri, is up to her tricks to divide the family, he realises what is happening and sets out to make things right in the house."

Fact file

Mazher Sayedd began acting while still in Mithibai College. He
ater did theatre with Kader Khan and Salim Ghouse. On the small screen, he has played Anish in Kahiin Kissi Roz (Star Plus), Rocky in Kuch Jukhi Palkhein (Sony), Dr Walia in Kesar (Star Plus) and also acted in Kamini Damini (SaharaOne).
