Another Rainy Night
Droplets of rain slowly trailed down his face, hiding the endless tears as Arnav leaned against his car clutching on to the last shreds of courage that he possessed.
She was a miracle, a prayer answered and he had let her go, let her vanish from his life taking away the last bits of love that he could call his own.
He stood there still and broken, totally at loss. Struggling to relive the memory of what happened two years ago on a rainy night similar to this one but yet so very different. She had been in his arms then, it was the first time in years that unexplainable fear took over him and made him realize that she mattered to him, she evoked feelings that were long dead. She was bringing back a part of him that he had crushed and thrown away. He had saved her then, she was alive.
Kneeling down he tried forcing out the memory of another rainy night that had snatched away everything he had, the night that he had tried so hard to erase but it still kept haunting him, reminding him of how he had lost the everything to cruel fate. The night she bled to death in his arms and whispered goodbye. The night his life turned empty again and washed away all traces of love.
She was gone now and he was no where close to relieving himself from the hell that he had created, he knew deep down that this is not what she would have wanted for him. He had tried moving ahead, pushing away regret but how is one supposed to live with the knowledge that he had love thrust upon him and he threw it all away marking it as fake and deceitful, only seeing light when he was close to losing her, his life. She had selflessly offered her life, relentlessly tried to make him believe and then she silently walked away, leaving him behind to fight away regret and remorse. He broke down and wanted nothing more but relief, a glimpse of her and loving eyes to assure him that he has a reason to live for.
That night her face resembled a pale winter's moon as she asked him to hold on, she lay in his arms almost lifeless, the rain mingling with her blood but she was still smiling showing him that she was happy, trying to make him believe that he could be happy without her. Everything he had was snatched the minute Khushi closed her eyes to the world and disappeared to someplace where he would never find her.Time erases and heals they say but Arnav Singh Raizada was still broken, wounded and painfully defeated. The excruciating and blinding pain took over him like it always did, pushing him into utter darkness and creating within him a painful void. All he wanted was a glimpse of his Khushi, a reason to keep breathing.
