It's going to be comedy, so no stress😆
Battle of Wits
Prologue
St Vincent's College was reputed to be amongst the best colleges in the country, with a history of excellence and innovation.
Or so it was said.
As every year, the start of the year brought fresh students to the school. It was always easy to distinguish them from the old and seasoned students, by the slight hesitation as well as excitement present in the eyes.
One of these boys was trying hard to appear cool, strutting around like the stud of the college. Knowing that he had to set himself up on the first day, he did the usual things that were expected of young and handsome men (or so he thought).
Walking past him was a very pretty girl, who didn't even acknowledge him. Putting on a smirk, he winked at the girl and managed to say in a deep voice, "Hey! What's your name?"
The girl looked at him and rolled her eyes, causing the boy to frown (feeling a bit deflated) and say, "Chill babe, we can get to know each other better. After all...a good looking girl like you needs to get to know a guy like me"
The girl didn't dignify that with a response and the boy opened his mouth to say something else but was stopped as a hand tapped him delicately on the shoulder.
Turning around, he was stumped at the sight that met him. Standing in front of him was a stunningly beautiful girl. She looked ethereal wearing a lilac coloured summer dress and waist length hair. He could only manage to gulp and stare at her.
"Hi" Her voice was sweet, contrasting with the words she was saying, "Sorry to burst your bubble but there is a rule against lame pickup lines in our school. The sooner you learn this'.the better for yourself. Honestly though, you can't expect any girl with a half a brain to fall for something that dodgy?"
"Whaafff" The boy didn't even know what he was trying to say but he felt the need to make a sound in front of this goddess.
"Well" she smirked, knowing the affect she was having on the younger guy, "with time and practice I am sure your skills will improve. Till then, hold back Casanova"
Turning around, she started to walk away when a deep voice called out. "Wait, Queen B" Striding forward with confidence oozing from every step, he stood behind her. "Leaving so quickly?"
Every person on the corridor gasped as they realised who had come and the potential show down they were going to witness. After all, everyone in the school knew that when Geet Handa and Maan Singh Khurana met, there would be fireworks.
Slowly turning back, Geet raise an eyebrow as she faced her "arch-nemesis". Both of them looked at each with such intensity that they could have burned down the whole place. Almost in sync, they both took a step closer to each other, so that they were standing toe to toe.
"Well, if it isn't Captain America himself, here to protect the idiots of the school" Sarcasm dripped from every word. "Hmmm'.looks like you used a gallon of hair gel today, instead of usual two gallons"
"And it looks like someone is PMSing" He leaning back a bit, hands in pocket causing the girls to sigh. "After all even for someone as'unimpressive as you, today seems to be a particularly bad day."
"Well, in that case you seem to be menstruating as well, with the amount of beauty products you use" She sniggered, "Want to borrow a tampon?"
Some of the junior girls started to sniffle in fear and there were even some tears. "Don't worry, it will be over soon" Someone consoled, but even they sounded doubtful.
It was widely known that whenever Maan and Geet fought, there would be bets on who would win and also on the number of emotional breakdowns. Last fight had resulted in an eating competition (forced up on them) as well as a midnight raid of the different common rooms.
No one wanted another repeat this early in the year.
"Maybe you should consider using some beauty products" Maan looked her up and down, with a stare that said she was lacking in many areas. "But then again, no guy would want to be with a soulless she-devil"
"Uh-oh" someone gasped out and there were definitely some shudders as they waited for Geet to reply back.
Geet gave a humourless laugh, "Oh dear, here I thought this boy had the lamest comments but it seems that you take the prize. She-devil! Even a two-year old can do better than that" Stepping closer, so that she was actually standing on his toe, she looked up at his face, "If you ever need any lessons on come-backs, feel free to come to me. Maybe you'll actually learn something."
"You just want to get close to me" Maan quickly retorted, not showing any pain from her heels digging into his toe. "Got the hots for me, do you?"
"Of course" She sniggered, "Who can resist your non-existent charms and artificial pretty boy looks? Maybe I'll manage to control myself."
"No need, after all we wouldn't want to inconvenience the Queen B of the school" Maan smirked, stepping closer and bending so that they were nose to nose and slowly pushed her against the locker, "But I'll stay away, after all the evil might be contagious"
"You are charity itself" Geet retorted back, not flinching from having him so close "and you can take this charity case," she pointed towards the young boy who had triggered this battle. "Fraser house can do without him."
With that she pushed him back and walked away, the sound of her stilettos echoing across the corridor. But Maan couldn't resist yelling out, "Don't kill any innocent children along the way, evil queen!"
Geet responded with a raised middle finger, "No innocent children, just your evil spawns."
With a smirk Maan also turned around and walked away.
"What just happened?" the confused new boy asked no-one in particular but still he got an answer from a senior.
"That was Maan Singh Khurana, head of Elliot House" he named one the four houses of the school, "And Geet Handa, head of Fraser House. They are two of the most powerful kids in the school, so you really don't want to get on their bad side."
------------------------------
Geet walked steadily towards the rooms reserved for the head of the houses. She was drained after a day of initiating the new students.
As always she had to calm down some nerves and wipe away tears along with showing them the way around the school. It was her responsibility to teach her house kids the school rules as well as the unofficial rules of the school.
Walking into the room, she looked up to see a familiar face smirking at her.
"Well that was quite a show" the deep voice spoke, with amusement apparent.
"I aim to please" She winked at him, "You were pretty impressive yourself Mr Khurana"
"Can't let you out do me, can I?" He laughed and gave a fist bump to her. "Ah..the gullible people. Never fail to fall for our act."
"Well we are the best"
