Rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh has issued a public apology after a remark made during a recent Delhi concert triggered widespread criticism online. The comment, delivered during his appearance at Nanku and Karun’s concert, was seen by many as explicit and inappropriate, leading to strong backlash on social media.

During the performance, Singh made a remark about people engaging in sexual activity in cars due to the cold weather in Delhi, while also urging them to use protection. A video clip of the statement quickly went viral, with several users calling out the language used on a public stage. Others questioned whether such messaging was suitable, regardless of intent.

Responding to the criticism, Honey Singh shared a video apology on Instagram, where he explained the context behind his words. Clarifying his intent, he said, “I was just a guest on the show and about two days before the concert, I had lunch with some gynaecologists and some sexologists. I was talking to them and they told me that the young generation is suffering a lot from sexually transmitted diseases.”

He added that the conversation stayed with him ahead of the show and influenced his on stage remarks. “This thing is going on and a lot of people are having unsafe sex. So when I went to this show, when I saw the Gen Z audience, I thought that I should give a message to Gen Z in their language that you should not have unprotected sex, use a condom,” Singh said.

Addressing the backlash directly, Singh admitted his choice of words was a mistake. “But many people found that language very bad. I apologise to all of you who found my language bad. I had no intention of insulting anyone,” he said, adding that he would be more careful about how his statements could be edited and shared online.

Apart from the video, Singh also issued a written apology in a social media post. In the caption, he wrote that he “sincerely regret the manner in which my words were conveyed and the objectionable views that have arisen because of it.” He again cited discussions with gynaecologists and sexologists about rising sexually transmitted diseases among youth as the reason behind his message.

He concluded the post by assuring fans that he would be more mindful going forward. Singh also captioned his apology video, “Bhool chuk maaf, my apology.”

What did he say at the Delhi concert?

During the performance, Honey Singh made a remark linking Delhi’s cold weather to having sex in cars, using explicit language on stage. He urged the audience to “use condoms” and “play safe,” but the wording of the comment drew sharp criticism online. Many social media users called the remark vulgar and inappropriate, especially given the public setting. The clip from the concert spread rapidly across platforms and triggered strong backlash, with several viewers questioning the singer’s choice of language despite his stated message about protection.
