I think the costume issue has seriously gotten over-hyped on this show. I dunno I seriously dont find that costume vulgur. Even though its a 2 piece she isnt really showing off a plunging neckline or lots of cleavage nor is she going overboard with her midriff or legs... What do u guys think?
Would u wear that costume if u were in Karishma's place. I would personally be fine with it...

I am into classical dancing , But the fact remains that folk dances who are from coastal side, do wear such costumes when they have to perform...So do such dances not require these types of costume or are they considered item song costume..??Sorry to say Meenakshi has no idea of what is being told to her by DC... She needs to learn a lot and understand many things when it come to dealing with using your talent in various genres and if needs to have change in attire, and item songs can be made senous and need not display vulgarity if it risks your morals and do not wish to perform the steps which are uncomfortable..

The Message which was needed to be understood Meenakshi fails to get it and believe in the person who would wish her to explore her talent.

Actresses like Madhuri Dixit has worn such item girl costumes in movies and show versatility, at the same time she has worn an anarkali dress and also shown that ..

To prove a costume cheap or inappropriate and prove it neat and decent can be done if one has faith in oneself and understands what can show such integrity, Karishma doing the performance proved it and whether she wins the challenge or not atleast she showed that one can display good dance and wear clothes which is tagged as item song clothes and get appreciation.

This is how I see it not being vulgar and neat execution for the given task.

Vulgairity lies in the mindset. I would say Karishma's outfit this time was pretty decent while she wore a very short skirt during her audition and also during the first gala. I think she will win audience hearts this time.

Exactly! Karishma's worn way more skimpier outfits in the past and this outfit isnt even close. In fact I really liked it. It looked very Indian and she carried it off really well. Her act was also not vulgur.

The thing is what disappoints me is the hypocrisy which is being portrayed towards item numbers. I personally do feel item songs are over-rated n over-used BUT one cant deny the success they achieve and the mass popularity they have across all caste n creed. However when it comes to performing an item song all of a sudden fingers are raised on the classiness of a person??? Why is it that only a girl like Karishma should be doing item songs? Why is it that someone like Meenoo's character gets tainted? Why is it then suddenly acceptible for Akshat to strip off his clothes in an item song and call himself a desi boy so proudly but same isnt possible for Meenoo?
Society is full of hypocrites. Iam kind of reminded of that line by Naseer Sir in the dirty pic... something like "jab sharafat ke kapde utarte hai to sabse zyada mazaa shareefon ko aata hai" Ha! Mazaa to aata hai but only privately. Sabke saamne admit karenge to suddenly unke character pe daag na lag jaaye

Umm I wud say dat Karishma's costume wasn't Vulgur... & Evn I was suprised wit dat but if u remem wen DC was showing the Gal who wore a diffrent costume & danced on Chikni Chameli, I found that costume OTT, it was vulgur to me... & Meenakshi has never wore such clothes so she was hesitant... But during the Orignal performance the costume wich Karishma wore wer much decent dan dat gal, so Meenakshi was not ACTUALLY shown the REAL Costumes... Its all about being comfortable in wat u wear & I cud notice meenakshi's discomfort wen the Trailor was shown to her & like allen said dat the Dance & the Costume & just thinking about it bought tears in Meenakshi's eyes, how cud she wear it? K evn if she had agreed to wear it & still wud've been uncomfortable, she might wud've blanked out on the stage, wat wud happen den? So its better dat she opted out bcoz of the costume coz comfort is all that matters ! M not against Item Numbers or call the cheap, but all I say is they can be performed elegantly as well, like Rekhaji used to do before & Madhuri Dixit has done in Devdas... I find those Item Numbers much much graceful, elegant & better than the new ones so I thnk Meenakshi in my eyes is Justified ! Meenakshi has always believed in Hardwork to attain fame contradicting DC's Idea of "Jitne Chote Kapde, utni ucchi shohorat"... Obviously she has to do an item number some day but dat wud onli be wen she is Comfortable... She is not against Item Numbers in fact she is doin Inn Aankhon Ki Masti as shown in the Precap wich is an Item Number, the problem she had was wit the costume wich DC had well potrayed wrongly in front of her so she is Justified atleast for me ! :)

& ^^ The thng u said abt Akshat being a Hypocrite, I Disagree ! I mean he is a guy whu is comfortable wit doing a strip tease act whereas he very well knws dat Meenakshi is not a kind of gal whu'll do such an act & so he was furious ! & then u cant deny that dis is still a male society... Akshat doing a Strip Act doesn't make him shameless or him vulgur in front of everyone but meenakshi doing sumthng like that wud surely bring such reactions... I thnk he was just trying to protect her & was being a protective BF & the thng he said abt Karishma types is bcoz of the image he has of Karishma, wich to sum extent is Justified coz we know her good side being viewers but in front of Akshat & others she's not done anythng good to Impress them, shez nver left a chance to insult his GF in front of others & her good side is shown onli to Angad so I thnk Akshat having such an Opinion abt Karishma is Justified & Realistic ! Realistic I say bcoz Dont we do the same thng? Dont we make opinion abt people in terms of their clothes & behavior?! How much ever nice people are in their Inner Self, we dont consider them a Nice Person unless they show it to us ! M sure dat wen Karishma's Good side surfaces in front of Akshat, he'll be the 1st one to praise her co dats Human Nature ! =D

& M so sorry for such long rply & if it bugged 😆

I think with Meenakshi the issue was less about vulgarity per se, considering that vulgarity in itself is a subjective term -- it was more about comfort level and what she personally would be okay wearing on her own. DC may have had a point, but in this instance I feel he was pushing too hard, too fast. Plus compare the costume he presented to the costume Karishma was eventually wearing -- there was a marked difference.

That being said, I don't see how Karishma can be labelled versatile just because she agreed to perform Chikni Chameli. I dunno...but personally as a performance I felt it was all over the place. Though a folk number CC's definitely more of an item and has less of the folk element to be frank. IMO had it been something like Humko Aaj Kal Hain from Sailaab I'd have been impressed with her a lot more...there wasn't too much of a difference between her performance of Chikni Chameli and her Chammak Challo act in the beginning. There was way, waaay less of a surprise factor when Karishma did it, if only because there was such a sense of deja vu about it. What I would call versitility would be if she'd done an actual folk number, or a mujra. So far I don't see how Karishma's repetoire in dancing styles has broadened any more than Meenakshi's has.

As far as I'm concerned, Meenakshi knew that she wasn't comfortable, that it wasn't something she could trust herself to pull off. I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing. It may be a stumbling block in her career, but I don't think she should be necessarily called a crybaby for having reservations.

I will fully agree with this point, she looked great with less makeover. 😊

Vulgarity in a dance, to my mind comes not from the costume but from the gestures, movements and expressions of a dancer, and the way she carries herself. Even the demurest of dress can look vulgar if the artiste is making suggestive movements and gestures.

Labeling such a costume vulgar can be expected from Meenakshi given the social background she comes from and what she's seen around her. That Akshat and Alan should support her without even bothering to check, what it was DC is suggesting is naive prejudice at best.
