I AGRee!! I was super surprise to see Karishma and her outfit. It was perfectly fine. What she wears on a regular basis is more revealing then what she wore in the dance.

If i was in Meenakshi's place, I would have gone for it. Competition is all about "going out there and doing something which u may not feel comfortable with but do the job and do it soo well that it leaves every one stunned". P.s like i said before, i see dance similar to Acting. U have to delve into anothers character, u can't be ur self always when dancing..u are portraying diff cultures, diff dance forms which may not all be what ur good at or familiar with.. SO who is the winner, the girl who did the job given to her or the girl who decided to reject her job and put a dance which she accepts. SOrry but i have to go with karishma as the better contestant in this situation even though i like meenakshi!

Nope, not at all vulgar. And, loving the discussions taking place in this thread. What Karishma wore and her dance moves were nowhere close to what the girl demonstrated to Meenakshi. There was a marked difference. So, we cannot blame Meenakshi for refusing such an act.

If she isn't comfortable wearing something, she would have been conscious and then her performance would have suffered. I don't like people judging others based on certain parameters, including clothes, but then that is Indian society for you that is still not comfortable with the idea of skimpy clothes.

I found some hypocrisy in Meenakshi over all this hue and cry of not understanding things. I shall leave it there...

Many things need not be fed in literally, which Meenakshi fails to understand and being guided with it so Karishma I would say showed gr8 sportsman ship which is very important in any field.. Whether she wins or not is immaterial to me Meenakshi may be on cloud nine but according to me she has failed to impress me even if she gets all the required feedback from all the judges.

lovely discussion in this thread... Like most here, I agree that Karishma's clothes are not so objectionable... and she carried her act decently... So no major complaints.
At the same time, Catch here is there is difference in the dress between what is shown to Meenakshi and what Karishma wore... This could be the reason for Meenakshi's shocked/surprised look when she first saw Karishma in that dress...
Like I mentioned, if CVs wanted to generate some pity on Meenakshi and make us viewers connect with her, it is a failure... I felt she is foolish in not accepting ...
If she has come to a dance reality show, which she must have seen in TV atleast, she should know that dancers will wear different costumes and dance..
If because of her social background she had issues, then she should have had issue in dancing as a jodi, eye locking and being in the hands of an unknown guy (At that time Akshat was still a new guy for her).

But during the Orignal performance the costume wich Karishma wore wer much decent dan dat gal, so Meenakshi was not ACTUALLY shown the REAL Costumes... Its all about being comfortable in wat u wear & I cud notice meenakshi's discomfort wen the Trailor was shown to her & like allen said dat the Dance & the Costume & just thinking about it bought tears in Meenakshi's eyes, how cud she wear it? K evn if she had agreed to wear it & still wud've been uncomfortable, she might wud've blanked out on the stage, wat wud happen den? So its better dat she opted out bcoz of the costume coz comfort is all that matters ! M not against Item Numbers or call the cheap, but all I say is they can be performed elegantly as well, like Rekhaji used to do before & Madhuri Dixit has done in Devdas... I find those Item Numbers much much graceful, elegant & better than the new ones so I thnk Meenakshi in my eyes is Justified ! Meenakshi has always believed in Hardwork to attain fame contradicting DC's Idea of "Jitne Chote Kapde, utni ucchi shohorat"... Obviously she has to do an item number some day but dat wud onli be wen she is Comfortable... She is not against Item Numbers in fact she is doin Inn Aankhon Ki Masti as shown in the Precap wich is an Item Number, the problem she had was wit the costume wich DC had well potrayed wrongly in front of her so she is Justified atleast for me ! :)

& ^^ The thng u said abt Akshat being a Hypocrite, I Disagree ! I mean he is a guy whu is comfortable wit doing a strip tease act whereas he very well knws dat Meenakshi is not a kind of gal whu'll do such an act & so he was furious ! & then u cant deny that dis is still a male society... Akshat doing a Strip Act doesn't make him shameless or him vulgur in front of everyone but meenakshi doing sumthng like that wud surely bring such reactions... I thnk he was just trying to protect her & was being a protective BF & the thng he said abt Karishma types is bcoz of the image he has of Karishma, wich to sum extent is Justified coz we know her good side being viewers but in front of Akshat & others she's not done anythng good to Impress them, shez nver left a chance to insult his GF in front of others & her good side is shown onli to Angad so I thnk Akshat having such an Opinion abt Karishma is Justified & Realistic ! Realistic I say bcoz Dont we do the same thng? Dont we make opinion abt people in terms of their clothes & behavior?! How much ever nice people are in their Inner Self, we dont consider them a Nice Person unless they show it to us ! M sure dat wen Karishma's Good side surfaces in front of Akshat, he'll be the 1st one to praise her co dats Human Nature ! =D

& M so sorry for such long rply & if it bugged 😆

Arre dear Iam not calling Akshat a hypocrite yaar. In my post Iam implying that towards the mindset of society these days. Also I agree about everything u have said especially about the original costume being different but Akshat saying only a girl like Karishma (in his other words a "bitch") can do item numbers if u know what I mean? I get irked by that sort of thinking. Of course he said that out of irritation but there are people who do have that sort of thinking... I mean cant girls from well bred families do item numbers? Would they be considered bitches or cheap if they chose to do so?
BTW I also have a question for the members who have the point about the initial costume being more revealing... Do u guys feel Meenoo would have said yes if that girl would have worn something similar to Karishma or the moves were less "vulgur"? Personally I would still presume Meenoo would have declined. Its not just about the costume but the attitude towards item numbers of today. That old song the Meenoo is doing may be an item number from yesteryears but in todays day n age people would term it more like a cult classic and view it with a lot more respect as oppose to a Sheila ki jawaani or Munni badnaam hui. I mean would u see that sort of act in the movies of today and class it as an item number? Remember the songs that Madhuri did as Chandramukhi in Devdas? Would they be falling in the same bracket as Jalebi Bai? You tell me guys!
Sach bolu to maybe even Iam a hypocrite because even I have a different sort of admiration towards mujra numbers like "inhi logon ne" or Helen's "ye mera dil" etc etc. However I also dont fear in admitting Iam impressed with how Katrina boogeyed in Chikni chameli because I think it would take me ages to learn how to dance so well! Perhaps Iam contradicting myself but I do feel that the world of item numbers and the thought processes that go with it have evolved with time. Heck there are even item boys now!
P.S. Iam keeping fingers crossed no one gives the example of "dil mera muft ka" cos they totally butchered the hell out of the "nazaakat" in mujra...😉
P.P.S Sorry for such a long-winded post. I hope I havent pakaaoed the members here😆
P.P.P.S Thanx everyone for having such a mature discussion on this topic👍🏼

I would say item numbers are the in thing today and Meenaxiji will have to do an item song one day sizzling and hot however uncomfortable she might be doing it as real talent lies in doing something you are not comfortable with ie outside your comfort zone and if you are able to do justice to it then you are a winner in judges eyes. I have seen judges praise a contestant just for that daring . It is outside topic discussion but I wished to post this.

Shivani I liked what you said and the question put I think item number have a cult type now, Meenakshi's performance can be very well challenged and said its not an Item number and its more of the yesterday years where the name item number was not in the dictionary of the choreographer...

According to me item number costume can all be given a thought with proper mindset, when mind sees it vulgar and imapprotiate the negativity is already dwelled in and postive thinking is haulted. This was what Meenakshi did and also the trust she failed to keep with DC.. Whatever is the outcome of the challenge Meenakshi comes out with flying colors or whatever I would still find KArishma doing it as an Item Number which was the required ones of these times and tagged as an Item number with elegance and her gestures with the needed appropriate form she delivered it ..
