The How ? The Why ? The Whats ?

THE WHAT ?
Am bored, and am just waiting for this looong Sunday to pass off quickly, so that it's Monday sooon..

I have never ever been a fan of hindi serials... but with IPK , i just dont know what's happening to me .. So, i wanted to investigate a bit further into this madness ..

I usually make fun of all the SP saas-bahu shows ,the hilarious acting, and wat puts me off the most is the " I am too good for my shoes" attitude which most of these 1-serial wonder actors' put on ...

THE WHY ?
But wen it came to IPKKND, wat got me hooked was :

* The amazing chemistry b/w the leads ...
* The story
* Most importantly, i started loving SaRun as well as ArHi cuz of the SBS/SBB segments, whr they showed me tht they were genuinely good ppl , fun-loving, REAL humans with no air around them ... THAT made me love their serial more, tht made me want to make their show a HIT

THE HOW ?
I dont understand the TRP charts, i dont understand how some serials can make it to the top -- TOPPER than IPK ... i juz dont get it ... are we all thinking along the same lines ?

Last week's TRP chart ( taking into a/c only SP shows, cuz tht's the only channel tht's always running in my house )

Which among these serials were u most surprised to see in the TRP chart in the first place ? Just wanted to know, do the same things make us all tick ??


P.s : This is not meant to bash any shows .. i just wanted to know how the normal serial watching audience think..

I am in Canada so i am not factored in the TRPs even though I pay to get SP on cable TV.

I only watch IPKKND for all the reasons you stated. I caught bits and pieces of other shows off and on but primarily I got SP because it came as part of a package deal on our Multicultural Channels!

Like you I got caught up after seeing bits and pieces and now I can say that I am an addict to this show!

The TRP is not a mystery because the show's audience is not just TV based! A significant portion are overseas, just look at the Noreen Khan BBC interviews! Also there is a great teenage, early 20's fan following who watch the show on their PC, laptop it other electronic devices!

So whilst we do not understand why the TRPs are low in comparison to what we consider "inferior, same old samo stories" we have to find some means to stand up and be counted!

For that we need the Indian audience to log on to their TVs or we need to ensure that when we are viewing a promo that we are only viewing the one. For example the consummation video of Bade Ache got a million hits very quickly! Teri Meri combined got well over that but there are so many clips of it out there that it is difficult to access the impact in comparison. Thus we are in fact the problem rather than the solution!

I wish your post could remain on the front age but alas this forum moves like quicksilver!

Hey thanks for the encouragement... at times i feel like an old missy in this forum.. "the kids" here are mostly interested in spoilers and current news... even tho , am a sucker for all tht, even i wish we cud look at the long-term goals, and make the CVs know they are appreciated as well... and also do something to increase the TRPs..
A whole lot of things depend upon the TRPs ..juz hav a look at the various TV awards tht were conducted recently ... Sanaya hardly gets nominated newhr, other than for best jodi ... and the remaining same-expression bahus win everything ...
