I like today's episode a lot for the primary reason that our lead protagonist was back to having most of the screen time and the episode was well balanced and dealt with issues that the show's premise started out with. We all knew that BDP weren't the only people in the world who were ever going to mock Krishna for not being fair and I am actually glad they showed this because I was stalking the AB facebook page today and I was so disturbed to see a suggestion to put more make up MN because she looks "kaali" in the serial. What was even more awful was the fact that this post had 10 likes! It is first of all appalling that a girl's compatibility with her husband should be judged by the colour of her skin, but even more terrible that looks seem to be the be all, end all yardstick for women. I thought I would hate the role of Bua Dadi but she is actually playing the role of 'society' in this case.
Although it bothers me that Krishna cannot seem to take a holiday, I am ok with it because I have complained so many times about her BDO moments being interrupted by her personal crap that today, I was nothing short of vindictively ecstatic at the reverse! Without giving too much importance to it just yet, they are laying the foundation for Pintu's justified irritation at her always putting her job first, even when she is on an official and permitted holiday.
How happy are we that she didn't sign that file? That to me made today's episode worthy of the character of Krishna. I loved her clipped tone and her glares towards Pyarelal. It wasn't even some lucky twist of fate that saved her from signing, it was her own blessed brain and for that I thank the writers. Kuch to bacha hain is show mein!
As long as these two have each other, nothing anybody says is going to hurt for too long. It reminded me of when Krishna got that rishta from the DC and Pintu got all insecure that he wasn't as successful as her, and worried about what he had to offer her. But it turned out he was just perfect in her eyes and just what she needed. Similarly, Pintu does not view Krishna through the eyes of society but through the eyes of love, a love borne out of respect, friendship and also attraction because, society be damned, Krishna is a looker! But sometimes because of the bias towards her complexion and sometimes because people cannot see past her padaku-ness, her beauty is missed. But Pintu never misses it and he has never wasted an opportunity to compliment her, buy her jewellery even when he was almost sure she wouldn't like it, and notice even the slightest difference in her appearance.
I also loved the idea that they protected each other from buri nazar... because they are going to need it!
It is terrible how short sighted bitter women can be. The Bua Dadi noticed Krishna's complexion but seemingly not the glow on Pintu's own face!
I thought it was interesting that Bihari was assuring someone that Pinky would be a BDO the next year. I hope they do pursue that at some point. It would be an interesting story arc for her to be taking all the exams and interviews again.
