TV's dudes in desi avatar!
Aniruddh Dave in Ruk Jaana Nahin
No matter how advanced and progressive television content may get, producers seem to manage to find a way to hold on to traditional culture as well, as seen in certain shows.

This time it's not the sari-clad bahus who keep flashing their culture on our small screens every now and then, but it's the turn of their male counterparts - actors in various shows, who seem to have put aside the cool dude' urban look in favour of a desi avatar. Donning those crisp, custom-made Western suits and taut briefcases is passe, with their physical appearance making way for the average, country-style Joe. Look for them as the male lead in the role of a halwai, a typical roadside Romeo or an even a small-town collegian. Here are the roles...

Amrit Nigam (Eijaz Khan) Serial: Shubh Vivah

Eijaz's character is crude, shrewd, quintessential alpha male. His on-screen character can be described as someone with a strong negative streak. Mostly seen vrooming around on his bike, Amrit wears short kurtas teamed with denims and a stole to complete the country look. It works, as girls love the whole alpha male persona!

Pintu Singh ( Kinshuk Mahajan)
Serial: Afsar Bitiya

Seen in collared, bright coloured kurtas with his sunglasses tucked inside the collar, Kinshuk essays Pintu Singh, the quintessential village goon. He is confident and street smart, yet he is simple and tender-hearted. Though he comes across as rough and brash, viewers love the fact that deep down he's a real softie.

Inspector Sumer (Abhinav Shukla) Serial: Hitler Didi
Abhinav's character as Inspector Sumer is sharp and well-built. Seen in his police uniform most of the time, Sumer otherwise prefers to wear a simple kurta-pyjama with a sleeveless khadi jacket. His dialogues are heavily laced with a typical Haryanvi accent. As for why he is attractive? A fearless and duty-bound Sumer knows the right way to solve the most complicated cases.

Indu Singh (Aniruddh Dave) Serial: Ruk Jaana Nahin
Coming from a rural background, 27-year-old Indu Singh plays a kurta-and-denim wearing university leader, who hails from an influential political family in rural India. He comes across as intimidating and extremely dangerous, and believes that power is his birthright. Aniruddh's character is also someone who is very brave with the way his role plays out.

Sooraj ( Anas Rashid)
Serial: Diya Aur Baati Hum
Sooraj runs a sweet shop and is extremely hardworking. Married to an educated girl Sandhya, who aspires to become an IPS officer, Sooraj thinks he is no match for his educated wife. The lad wears simple, coloured kurtas teamed with a pair of light-coloured denims. Though he always sports a troubled look, he is an endearing husband.

hey thanks a ton for sharing this.. I really like one sentence about other serials " where saas bahu flashing there cultures on the small screen."
I think this the reason that i was never fond of serials .Ruk jaana nahi is the first serial that i watch regularly. I dont miss single episode of this serial. I hooked on to this serial only because of Indu singh's character and awesome acting.
