Such an amazing post. Kudos to you for capturing that epic moment in words!!! That moment had me and my family dumbed. The pain( ..I must confess) had tears in my eyes. But chanting of Shakti's name itself adde an extra feather to the moment.

Those words worked as magic at that moment. His anger started calming down but not the hurt. It's painful seeing the most powerful Mahadev undergoing such a big loss.

To get him out of that state Vishnuji cut Sati's body with Sudarshan chakra in 51 parts, which fell at various places, Shakti peethas were formed there. That's how she came on Earth to bless Humans. Seeing her presence on Earth, Shivji too resides in all the Shaktipeethas, as per Devi puran.

Thanks for enlightening me 😆..BTW great post hun

yup and its said if you do not construct a shiv temple or put a shiv linga there, one will come out. When at home, i go to kalighat every week as a ritual, there we have worship nakuleshwar first, the temple opens before main temple opens, and then only enter main mandir.

Hence he sent sudarshan chakra to cut satis body in pieces. her body was cut in 51 places and wherever it fell, a mahashakti sati peeth was formed. There is one in afganisthan, called maruteerth hinglaj. I do not know much about it.
The bengal Assam region has quite a few sati peeth. Kalighat in kolkata has her small finger from left feet( might be right to, small finger ). I saw it once, offcourse its a fossilized stone and you really cannot make anything out, but faith rules.
There is a story that our pujariji used to chant during durgastami anjali. App shakti is the root of everything but she wanted a consort. Bhahma and Vishnu could not take her whole part and shiv came up. he said shakti has to reduce her power in order to come and enjoy the family life, and to make her ready for shiv she has to take birth 108 times after which she will be ready. Parvati was the final birth and that is why she is more associated with Shivji. Inspite of all the power and all Parvati had to go through a rigorous tapasaya to please shivji agree him to marry her.

not sati peeth, they are called shakti peeth. 51 of them are there. These temples are great hubs of spiritual power. I have updated a few on the temples thread

yes I read them, thank you. Well what goes on in our family, they are at times mentioned at sati peeth's also. So it was a slip of tongue.
