Aishwarya undecided about takin Aaradhya to Cannes

That Aishwarya Rai Bachchan goes to Cannes for the eleventh consecutive year this month is indeed a phenomenal occurrence in the history of the Indian entertainment industry. But as of now, the concerned mother Aishwarya and the Bachchan parivar are still undecided whether baby Araadhya accompanies her mom to Cannes.

Ever since her birth, Aishwarya has devoted her entire time to looking after her baby. There is no burning ambition in her at the moment to play any other role in her life and career except that of the mother.

The commitment at Cannes was an old and abiding one. And Aishwarya just couldn't wriggle out of it. Says a source, "Given a chance Aishwarya would have gladly foregone Cannes this year. For her no role at the moment matters more than the real-life role of the mother. That is why she has decided to not sign any film for at least one more year. Long-standing commitments other than film assignments, however, need to be fulfilled. And Aishwarya finds herself being pulled away from her motherly duties by professional commitments."

Cannes is one of those unavoidable commitments. Aishwarya did try to find a way out of it. But finally she has decided to go. Says a source close to the family, "In the Bachchan parivar professional commitments are sacrosanct. And Aishwarya is therefore going to Cannes as per schedule."

However, whether Araadhya accompanies her mother is still undecided. While the family has left the decision to Aishwarya, the actress' friends say she is still in two minds as to whether she should let her baby make that long-distance journey or not.

Says a friend of the actress, "Aishwarya is at the moment focusing only on the question of whether the baby accompanies her or not. She has given absolutely no thoughts to what she'll wear at Cannes and how she'd conduct herself there. Those are questions that don't even crop up in her head. Neither does the issue of weight-gain worry her. To Aishwarya her daughter's wellbeing is all that matters. The rest - beauty, career, success, stardom - are all at the moment, hazy things best left in the background."

A very close friend who rang her up this week to catch up said, "I've never seen her so content before. Never has she been so at peace with herself. She is playing the most cherished role of her life. And loving it."

As for little Araadhya walking the red carpet in her iconic mother's arms in Cannes, friends and family say the prospect is highly doubtful.

"If Araadhya finally accompanies her mother to Cannes - which in all likelihood she would have to for practical reasons- she would not be brought into the public domain.

Says a friend of the family, "At the moment Araadhya is enjoying her privacy. There's plenty of time for the public glare."
