TAMANNAAH TO DO A SRIDEVI
The actor will essay the role made famous by Sridevi in Himmatwala's remake
When filmmakers announced a remake of Himmatwala, a lot of big B-town names were, apparently, being discussed for the role opposite Ajay Devgn. Most notable among the names doing the rounds were Katrina Kaif, Deepika Padukone and Anushka Sharma. But sources say that it was always south actor Tamannaah Bhatia who was supposed to essay this role.
According to sources, Tamannaah had already signed up for this Sajid Khan remake of Himmatwala, which starred Jeetendra and Sridevi and hit theatres in 1983, when other names were still being bandied about. Apparently, only a 20-day call sheet has been asked for from the actor. The question being raised is why the makers were talking about other top Bollywood heroines when the south actor had already been signed up to essay Sridevi's role.
Himmatwala, meanwhile, was one of Sridevi's earliest films which catapulted the young actor to fame and fortune. Some claim that the makers wanted to bring in a south actor who was well-established, similar to how Sridevi was when she did this flick. Farah Khan has been roped in to choreograph Nainon Mein Sapna that was a yesteryear superhit song.
