Afternoon soaps weave a nine-yard dream

Ludhiana, July 17: After make up, jewellery, hair cuts, styles and bindi, it is time for the humble saree to be under the limelight—courtesy television stars. Women, it seems, are pining to copy the soap star look in toto. So after the Komolika and Sudha Chandran bindis, it time to get the saree of the Tara (of Saath Pheron Mein). The elder ones want the heavily embroidered sarees worn by Kumkum, Prerna and Parvati. Even the style of Meera in Kyunki Saas Kabhi Bahu thi seems a great hit.

Sherlley Chiu, who owns a beauty parlour—Blue Heaven in Sarabha Nagar Market—said: "The girls want this Tara style of saree, in which one shoulder is completely bare and the pallu is on the left side, pinned by a big brooch. It does give one a slimmer look." It is another matter that walking or climbing stairs even climbing into a car with this tightly draped saree is a tough job. The new style is, of course, based on the Mumtaz style of yore. To make the draping easier, the embroidery is done strategically, added Sneja Kapoor, who runs the parlour Khoobsurat in Ghumar Mandi. The saree shops are completely cued in. All you have to do is to name the star whose style you want to copy. Shubhash Kumar, who works at one such shop in Ghumar Mandi, said: "We have women who come to us and tell us they want Prerna saree or Komolika saree or the Parvati saree." The upshot? "Though we had the same things earlier, the hype has made them high-end stuff."

Tara's really pretty when she wears sari, infact i think she's the prettiest of all the actress in this program!

Tara looks good & beautiful the way she wears her sari it must be for her innocent look ….just think if the same would have worn by Kaveri with her vamp look at her face and attitude….to maaja aa jata reeeee 😆
