He's been offered Rajya Sabha post...so there's no question of walking on the street and begging for votes.

Now he has not joined because he wants to. The President of India has the privilege to appoint a few members and she has selected Sachin. When the President of India offers something it's bad manners to say no. You just can't...

Why she selected Sachin...maybe because the Indian political set up is tainted, so they need some 'brand ambassadors'. Recently we heard of some actors joining army/air force etc as honorary members. Same way Mrs Patil has taken Sachin into Rajya Sabha. He cannot refuse when the offer comes from there.

There is a lot of anger at cricket taking away the recognition of sports people who have done the country proud in various other sports. They have had no sponsorship to start with and had to face a lot of challenges all the way. Yet they have brought more laurels to teh country more times than cricket has.

In this light would you say Indians as a collective whole remain unjust to all other sports and the achievements personal and otherwise?
