Maan (huskily): dekho geet…. Serious jhagde mein romantic baatein mat kiya karo…am leaving bye!

He placed a quick peck on her forehead and walked out holding a toast in his mouth. She stood there for a while and slowly his words egistered in her mind. Her mouth turned a big O realizing what he meant by "serious jhagde mein romantic baatein"!!!

And he was gone. She sighed. There was no other option either. She has to live through her days. College went well…she got her semesters a few weeks later. But things were different this time. She was not at all sad….he was there for her…she knew it. That was the best part. She couldn't even stop that blush that crept on her cheeks thinking about him.

Dan came to pick her up for lunch….and strangely she agreed without any hassle. No matter where she went…whatever she did… her mind her soul and her heart was always with Maan! There was nothing to feel sad about because he was happy…fulfilling his dreams.

Maan came out of the washroom wiping his hair. It had been a long day in office, a week since he had come back from London. He found Avantika with some servants fixing something on the wall. She talked something and walked out with them. Maan wondered what was that all about! He went and looked at the portrait carefully. There was a little Maan standing elegantly. He looked sho cute. But who was that little girl beside him? She looked so familiar …she was totally pink…chubby and wore a cute frock. He looked at the huge portrait for a long time….so many things going in his head…so many memories coming back to him…faintly…hazy!!! He caressed his hand over her face…..

Dan and geet sat in a restaurant for lunch. Geet was really enjoying herself… Rahul and jess were with her too. She laughed….because Maan was in her mind… she enjoyed…because Maan was the only one who ruled her mind and heart..she was too much preoccupied with him to notice n e thing else!

Rahul cracked a pj and all of them burst out laughing… even geet! Dan's eyes fell on her…she was sitting right opposite to her. OMG..she really had a very beautiful smile. He couldn't even take his eyes off her…she was really very beautiful…he had to admit!

Avantika came into his room and found him lost…his hand still on the portrait. She patted his shoulder. He snapped and she made him sit on his bed.

Avantika: this was the portrait I was talking about that day. Kuch yaad aaya?

Maan was still lost in those cute hazel eyes…he was sure he had seen them recently…! Avantika smiled.

Avantika: her family has shifted to Delhi….maan! trust me they have undergone so much in those years!

He looked at her and then the little girl...Blankly.

Avantika went away and he lay on his bed…lost. It was not long when he had dozed off!

Dan dropped geet and jess back in the college and drove off. She hadn't missed Dan's gaze on her….but chose to ignore. May be she is thinking too much. She went for a basketball practice…they had a girls team too. Uff even the basketball seemed to remind her of him. She couldn't stop smiling and blushing at the same time….their 1^st match…they hated each other so much! And then his checking her out in that rain…she actually realized it now that he was checking her out! She was zapped back to reality when the ball hit her. she smacked her head and got back into the game!

"MK…he…help…please…"

He woke up abruptly…panting…sweating! He heard that voice again. He blinked a couple of times…and looked at the portrait! He tried to sleep again but his mind kept going back to that voice and her portrait! He couldn't sleep. "MK" the word kept going round and round in his head! He was suddenly remembered of something…he got off the bed and scanned through his cupboard! He checked his bags..it must be here somewhere! He checked every corner and there, he found at a corner! He took that tape and looked at it carefully. He finally decided to play it…it felt all so connected..like that voice was somewhere connected to this tape…and that girl!

He stood there hearing the song again and again…..a smile played on his lips, "Sweetu…" he whispered!

She had her dinner and sat with her lappy, checking her mails. She found one from Jasmeet. The subject was "surprise". She opened it excitedly and the 1^st thing that came out of her mouth was, "MOM…"! her eyes widened in surprise…and probably a layer of tears covered her eyes.

There she saw jasmeet's pic with the same lady she had collided with during the convocation! Jasmeet had also written a small message saying it was her mom…her MK's mom..she had met up with her recently again.

She couldn't believe her eyes…she had met her mom recently and she failed to recognize her big time!!! A tear escaped her eyes…she saw her after so so so many years. She still looked the same! So many memories were brought back to her…sweet ones….

"mom…", she whispered, "I miss you so much!"

She was so happy…but mamma said she was in Delhi right…then how come she met her in London? But then MK…she closed her eyes for a while…she had convinced herself that she hated him. Its better to forget and move on. She took a deep breath…she has to gain that confidence whith which she had landed in London that day!

The next morning…Maan was late for breakfast. Avantika learnt from nakul that he didn't even go to the gym. That was strange…Maan was an early riser…she went to his room and knocked the door. He opened with droopy eyes and went back to sleep.

Avantika: maan…teri tabiyat to theek hai na? you don't sleep this late!

She touched his forehead.

Maan: mom let me sleep…kal poori raat nahi soya…

Avantika: why? What happened?

He had already dozed off by that time.

Maan (sleepy): Sweetu se milna hai…..

Avantika laughed. So sir was busy remembering his old friend the whole night. She went away allowing him to sleep a bit more.

Sweetu was always at the back of his head…its just that he was so busy in his own world that he didn't even realize that someone might be waiting for him…for his one call….to hear his voice….

And when he heard that song..he then realized there was a friend named Sweetu… his best friend! Wow that was super cool for him. Mom said her family has shifted to Delhi…he could catch up with her and probably remember the old happy times. They had lost contact when he was around 17. Uff Sweetu was sooo silly!

It was a month since then. Maan and geet lived through mails and phone calls. Geet was preparing for her semesters. She was also having fun with her friends.

Jasmeet called up that night.

Jasmeet:….aaj Avantika ghar aayi thi…and guess what…your MK had come with her too…

She hated that name! Jasmeet kept on talking how her MK had grown up to be a handsome guy…she was least bothered. She wanted to meet her mom…but MK..she couldn't care less! She didn't even respond to the word "MK". The coldness was sowly seeping back into her…like she was before she met Maan.

She changed the topic very tactfully and insisted oin Jasmeet visiting her in London. That worked! They talked for a long time and it was decided that she'd go to India after her semester. She had her summer break them. Her birthday was around that time.

Maan was quite shocked to hear about his Mohinder dad's demise. Anatika had told him everything about them….he didn't know business could get this dirty!

That night he heard that voice again… "MK…help..". he woke up sweating… still not very convinced if it was Sweetu or someone else! OMG he tried hard to recall when they had talked last….he went o restless…was it her? it seemed to be hers tough!

Why was she crying? He had visited his "mamma" after so long…she looked worn out…she had lost the glow on her face. When he was asked about Sweetu, he had leant that she was away in London doing her masters! Well he has to wait now.

A few days later he got to know from his mom that Sweetu was coming back during her holidays….that too around her birthday. They were going to plan a surprise birthday party for her. she hardly celebrated her birthdays after moving to Japan.

Geet was so dying to hear Maan. He was getting busier by day. He did mail her at times saying how sorry he was for not calling her. he was made the inchage of a big project. Well the only thing he didn't tell her that the project was in London….he had checked and crosschecked every little detail with extreme finery. He wanted to surprise her. they had branches in London and he had worked really really hard to get this project in his hands. He will definitely have to travel to London….almost every month to check on the progress.

Dan couldn't understand his own feelings towards geet. He knew this was not right…but still he couldn't stop himself from falling for every little gesture of hers.

They sat for dinner. Of course Dan had asked her out and she agreed without even giving it a thought…she needed to distract herself from MK and all those things hovering in her mind.

He just couldn't get her off his mind. The way she talked…her sense of dressing…her choice of words….

He was distracted by a call on her cell. And with that big smile on her face, he knew it was Maan! Somewhere it pinched him!

Geet: hiee Maan…

Maan: hey sweetheart…how are you? Aur kahan ho? Itni awaz kahan se aa rahi hai?

Geet (nibbling on her food): umm….restaurant mein hoom…having dinner..

Maan: so you are enjoying…without me?

He stressed a bit on the last two words in a husky voice. She blushed instantly. Dan was amazed to see such an instant reaction from her at his little talks…..

Geet: wo..nahi…aisa nhai hai..i I came with Dan!

Did he feel the pinch? Umm..he ignored that. glad that she was not withdrawing herself from the world!
