Part 12 : Here
Her initial hunger for jalebis sated for now, Khushi looked around her. The chopper could easily carry six plus the pilot, the cushioned seats wide and inviting. Her eyes widened again as she saw the young pilot climbing in the chopper followed by Akash and Payal. Her grip on the arm-rest tightened as she looked down longingly at the ground; only if they could travel by train or by car this journey would have been perfect. She opened her mouth to convey this to her husband when the bouquet of roses unceremoniously landed in her lap. Distracted, she looked down to see Arnav pointing at the chain of stars entwined in the flowers. He pulled out one end of the chain and gestured at Khushi to untangle it completely. She looked up questioningly as the chain seemed to be a never-ending one. It was too long to be tied around flowers.
'Do you remember the night before Diwali, Khushi?', Arnav asked huskily.
'When you got tangled in the fairy lights and how I took them off you?', Khushi nodded, not able to follow him.
Arnav nodded unperceptively at the pilot as a go-ahead as he continued to speak to Khushi.
'I wanted to see you wrapped in lights again'.
He ignored Payal's squeal of happiness as she found the box of handmade chocolates with 'Payal & Akash' embossed on them. He had them specially made. He had a box made for Khushi and him as well, but that was to be found by Khushi later.
The helicopter started to lift high in the air and Khushi turned deathly white. Arnav grabbed her chin in his hand and whispered in her ear, 'I want to see you wearing this chain of stars Khushi. This and my heart', he pointed to the ruby pendant 'and nothing else.'
The movement of the chopper, the noise it made, Payal's giggle as she leaned over the front seat to thank 'Bhai' for the chocolates, Arnav's reply to her, everything faded into nothing for Khushi as she stared at the stars twinkling in her lap. He wanted her to wear this very very long chain and his 'heart' and nothing else. The earlier pallor was replaced by a crimson flush as Khushi allowed the scandalous image to dominate her mind.
Blindly reaching for the flowers, she buried her hot face in them; oblivious to the fact that they were high in the sky now and that the chopper was moving steadily. She pushed the roses away only when Payal tempted her with heart-shaped chocolates the likes of which she had never tasted before. She stole a look at Arnav and found him gazing at her, a half-smile playing on the sensuous lips.
'Bahar dekho Khushi, look outside', Payal bounced on her seat, drawing Khushi's attention away from her husband to the breath-taking view outside her window. She felt the woodsy scent of his cologne engulf her as he leaned closer to point out the various sights.
Eventually Khushi got tired of making fanciful shapes out of the clouds and tried unsuccessfully to suppress a yawn. Payal and Akash were talking about the various places to see around Manali and she wanted to talk about gifts to be taken home for everyone. But she was so tired. She had hardly gotten any sleep thanks to the Laad Governor sleeping next to her and now all she wanted was to sleep.
A strong arm pulled her close; Arnav wrapped his arm around her, a feeling of peace overwhelming him as Khushi snuggled closer and closed her eyes. He looked down at his dozing wife; the custom-made diamond chain wrapped around her slender arm, the bunch of red roses lying in her lap and closed his eyes in contentment. She murmured in her sleep about Laxmi and Naniji, jalebis that had to be eaten and Arnav smiled down at her. These were the moments when the protector in him came to the forefront; one who wanted to love her, protect her from all harms, and hold her close like this for ever and ever; and the lover who wanted to possess her body took a backseat. Tenderness filled his heart and disgust and disbelief at his own actions shamed him at the same time.
After a couple of hours of undisturbed sleep, Khushi raised her head from Arnav's shoulders and yawned luxuriously. She had had the best sleep of her life. She stretched; her actions pulling up her top, stretching the satin material across her full breasts, exposing the butter soft curve of her stomach, none of which escaped the keen eyes of Arnav Singh Raizada. Oh how would he savour unwrapping her bit by bit. His hand went down and caressed her belly, making her jump, all traces of sleep effectively erased. She glared at him and was met with an impassive face. This man was shameless! Touching her like this when there were people around! Arnav did not remove his hand from its position on her stomach and raised an eyebrow. Huffing, Khushi settled back in her seat. She would not react, that would teach him.
Nimble fingers walked on the sensitized skin of her stomach and she wriggled. One lean digit moved into the valley of her navel and traced the slight curve; making her bit her lower lip. Pleading eyes turned towards her husband, 'Not here please', she mouthed. 'Later then?' the devil persisted. Desperate now, she nodded and satisfied for the time being, he removed his hand but not before a final squeeze.
The chopper started its final descent over the picturesque town of Manali and the sisters squealed with joy at they sighted snow for the first time. It sparkled on treetops, on grass, on the slanted roofs of buildings and temples, the whiteness glittering like the diamonds on Khushi's new chain.
The General Manager of the resort waited at the helipad with two land rovers to welcome the esteemed guests and without much delay they reached the residential area of the resort.
Arnav had booked two cottages; they stopped at the first one and as the vehicle carrying Payal and Akash left without stopping, the finality of her situation hit Khushi smack on her face. She would be alone with Arnavji. Alone for him to do anything to her. She gulped and looked wildly around. The cottage looked magical to her nervous eyes. Red tiled roof, creamy walls, rich dark wooden columns covered with flowering rose vines, it looked inviting and cosy. She took a step forward and was immediately picked by her husband who grinned at her astonished look.
'I am carrying my bride inside, kuch kahana hai?'
She shook her head and wrapped her arms around his neck, the scene reminiscing of their gruhapravesh rasm when an unwilling Arnav had carried his bewildered bride inside his house.
Khushi blinked back her tears, her mouth opening in an 'O' as Arnav pushed open the door and a shower of rose petals fell on them; red, pink, creamy white, yellow, mauve.
'Welcome to Manali, Mrs Raizada', Arnav spoke softly and with a gentle kiss on the forehead of his now-speechless bride put her down on the lush carpet.
They were standing in a huge hall and Khushi tried to take it all in as bellhops carried their luggage inside. There was a massive fireplace at one side, the mantel made of pink veined marble and a fire was already lit, chasing away the chill of the day. There were flowers, huge arrangements of them on coffee tables and side tables scattered throughout the room and their fragrance perfumed the room, soothing her nerves.
Khushi followed gleaming staircase and reached the upper story. Correction, their room was the entire upper story. It was huge and Khushi's eyes were immediately glued to the enormous four-poster dominating the room. Cream lace canopied the bed, more lace hung around the curved posts; a silk bedspread the colour of the night sky covered the bed while innumerable cushions in jewel tones covered the headboard. Arnav knelt at the fireplace, his movements drawing her eyes to the taut curve of his butt, the muscles of his thighs straining as he lit the fire and the scent of apple wood filled the room.
Not willing to be caught staring at his admittedly drool-worthy body, Khushi wandered around the room, studiously avoiding the bed. She pushed open the door to what she assumed would be the bathroom and stopped short. This room was bigger than the bedroom that she and Payal had shared at Buaji's house. There was a sunken pool right in the middle of the room and it could easily host a party of a dozen. Leafy plants surrounded the pool making it look like an enchanted pond. Curious, she moved around; a huge tub surrounded by scented candles in every shape and size was placed in a corner, directly under a skylight. There was a separate shower enclosure with more fixtures that she could imagine, twin sinks stood side by side and wide counters in the soothing colour of new leaves held pretty cane baskets laden with enough toiletries to last her a month; huge bouquets of lilies and roses fought for counter space with coloured bottles and knickknacks.
Will be sending PMs later.
Will try to update next as soon as I find some time.
Do share your thoughts about this part - I found it be okayish, cheesy and too descriptive at times. In short am not happy with this.
