He is cold, ruthless, self-centered at times and we define him as grey. But he is caring, concerned, and respectful not only towards his di but also to middle class in-laws to whom he is bound by just a contract.

He has made grave mistakes, a lot of them. He is outwardly snobbish he and speaks of class and social status.

He inflicts pain but he also feels pain of loss, hurt and suffering.

Does he really need to be redeemed? Doesn't he already have enough qualities that redeem him?

If none of us are perfect, then we all are flawed and grey. Then why is ASR defined as an anti-hero or a grey character who will eventually be redeemed?

PS : this is not a comparison post. It is something that just struck me.

oh no no!! dont you know Fari heroes shouldnt be flawed! not at all! they should be understanding caring sweet hot sext rich and they should have only qualities because he is a "HERO"
in the name of hero we want God! Perfect! but people forget that humans do have flaws and with all the flaws they are called good or bad! we are actually used to with all the goody goody lovey dovey heroes that now if they portray a human in hero we are unable to accept that! so yes he needs to redeem!

Hmm...I'm not sure you understand the meaning of an anti-hero.

Definition of an anti-hero: In fiction, an anti-hero is generally considered to be a protagonist whose character is contrary to that of the archetypal hero, yet typically retains many heroic qualities.

I think that defines ASR perfectly...he's not your typical hero but he has a lot of heroic qualities. Honestly, you should have zero complaints about his characterization. They are writing him perfectly...he has a mean streak but that is balanced by the good things he does...so he has the audience's sympathy. Its Khushi's character that is getting the raw end of the deal...

That is what surprises me...not just IPKKND. Characters like ASR are always defined as grey when a human is never completely white.

Oh yes, I do understand the definition of anti-hero but I am not speaking from a fictional POV here but from a non-fictional POV.
I am definitely not complaining about the characterization...I love ASR the way he is...I guess you didn't get my post. 😳

I see a lot of posts saying ASR needs to redeemed to be worthy of KKG, Isn't he already worthy ?

Ah, okay got it 😊

I agree...if they keep this current track up, ASR won't need any redemption at all...he's already gained my and half the audience's sympathy. Most of us can't remember the horrible stuff he did at the beginning of the marriage because he's being so sweet now. This is why the redemption track will fall flat on their faces unless they make drastic changes and show ASR really hurting Khushi badly. Otherwise the redemption track won't work, it will have no impact.

He is such a grey character but that's his biggest appeal isn't it? I mean for me at least it was this-arrogant, rude, but at the same time caring nature for his family and not mention a little shy -manwho blew me over... I love ASR in all his grey glory... And grey/ human same difference right?

Does he need to redeem himself- Yes and No. In the sense I've always felt love was unconditional and so both Arnav and Khshi should accept each other for what they are flaws included. But to do that they need to be in love and I don't think they are there yet. So to get there they both have to change a little, not for each other but because of each other.

He needs to be redeemed in his own eyes. The feeling of guilt, of having wronged an innocent has never settled well with ASR, and that is why he will right it. He will go through a redemption so he can look himself in the mirror - first and foremost. If he is seeking forgiveness - another ballgame.

He's not. I never found him to be Anti Grey. I think the story works because he's so real. You know not like the glossy heroes, he's as a real as one can be. He makes mistakes and feels the pain. Like in the dinner/lunch today, he felt bad that they had to pay for it.. He did think of their choices- though if he brought them indian, it would have been better, but he thinks, he repents and he shows pain.
I think he's like the only hero on SP that I can clearly say, yes, this is somewhat like me, not the cold part, but the human part of him.

Awesome post!

i will say he was dark character..he has become more human after he met Khushi..this is my honest answer..
After one by one his layers are peeling..ofcourse he is opening up..showing all his care and love that he hide for long..
But I deeply feel khushi has a big role in it..because anjli even did not bring this change..
ultimately credit goes to him..to have this tremendous transformation..
