How Ali Zafar might have wished his London Paris New York had released a few months before it actually did. Had it only done so, he could have had another release coming up this week. But considering he was too busy with that, he missed out on Bittoo Boss, a role that eventually went to Pulkit Samrat.

"Ali was the first choice for Bittoo Boss. His boyish charm, it was felt, would be perfect for the film. But since he was already working on London Paris New York, he was unsure about committing to another film," says a source. Even the makers couldn't afford to wait for Ali's dates to become available, as they had a few more films in the pipeline. "It was amicably decided to look for an alternative," the source adds.

The search took them to options including Vivek Oberoi, Ranvijay Singh and Aditya Roy Kapoor but without much success. "That's when the producers Kumar Mangat Pathak and Abhishek, along with director Babul, decided to stop looking for anyone from within the industry and instead began to hunt for a new face altogether," the source adds.

And that's the story of how Pulkit Samrat, an untried and untested face, came into the picture. Says Babul, "All's well that ends well. Yes, there were quite a few other names that were discussed but we are glad that Pulkit is the man for the job. No one else could have played Bittoo Boss better than him."
