Chapter 2
(M POV)
My shift is up now, and I am just cleaning the dishes, and putting them away. I go to put my jacket on when my phone starts vibrating. I take it out, after I put my jacket on, and see what its alerting.
It's a message from Unniti:
Hey Manyata, wanna have lunch at the mall? I'll pick you up if you can...
Lunch at the mall sounds fun, but Uday told me he would drop me off at home. I knew I had to tell him soon, or he would be waiting for me.
"Princess you ready to go home?" Uday asks. I put my phone back into my pocket and turn to face Uday.
Unniti wanted to have lunch with me today..." I hesitate.
"Oh that's cool. You want me to drop you off then?" He asks me, as he puts his own jacket on.
"She also said she would pick me up. Sorry," I tell him. He gives me a nod and then a smile.
"Have fun with my choti then and also make sure you don't slip again," he winks. "Afterall, I won't be there to catch you." When he says that I make a face and he laughs. He then kisses my forehead before leaving me alone.
I take my phone back out, and text Unniti back.
Hey Unniti, sure I'd love to have lunch with you. Can you pick me up now?
I watch Rahul hug Jay, and smile to myself when I hear his annoying voice he puts on around Jay. Do you have a cold... Uday would do anything to annoy Rahul.
"Why you staring at us like that Manyata?" Rahul asks me. Him and Jay then they walk upto me. At least Jay will try to be nice now.
"Oh sorry," I tell them.
"Don't be sorry," Jay tells me. "Maybe she wants a hug too," she continues smiling.
"No actually, I was thinking about how Rahul's scraed of spiders you see," I say, looking at Rahul. He hesitates a smile, trying to figure out a comeback.
"What?!" Jay exclaims, "your scared of spiders?" She turns to face Rahul and raises an eyebrow. I secretly enjoy the moment, and try to fight back my laugh.
"Tu naa Manyata! I was just trying to find aay to get you and Uday to come there. Of course I wasn;t really scared of that small spider," he replies back. Jay shakes her head.
"Alright then sweety. I believe you then," She says in her lovey dovert voice.
Just as Rahul opens his mouth to say something, a car from outisde beeps its horn.
"Sorry Guys, gotta go now," I say, relieved that Unniti came just at the right moment. They both bid me goodbyes and I walk out of the back door.
"Hi Manyata, how was work?" Unniti asks me as I sit in the front seat.
"Just the normal, but with a touch of comedy and a bit of embarrassment. How was your day?" I say as I close the door.
"Wow must have been quite an exciting day for you. My day was quite boring really," She tells me.
"Well it won't be boring anymore, now that I'm here to spend the rest of the day with you," I reply back.
"I'm sure it won't be," she says, smiling.
"Today we all found out that Rahul is scared of spiders. I'm going to look through the CCTV tomarrow and record his screaming bit. It might come in handy one day," I tell her. She doesn't say anything for some time, so then I decide to shake her shoulder lightly. "Unniti, are you OK?"
"Oh sorry, did you say something?" She asks.
"Nevermind, you were daydreaming weren't you?" I say giving her a wink. . Unniti shakes her head.
"No I wasn't Manyata, otherwise I would have had an accident by now," she answers me.It's true, it can be dangerous to daydream while driving, it could easily cause big accidents.
"Sure," I say. She parks her car and we both get out.
"Where shall we eat?" Unniti asks me.
"I don't mind. As long as the food is nice there," I tell her.
"Alright then," She says, before walking quickly into the mall. I run to try and keep up with her.
"Unniti! Wait up for me!" I exclaim, already tired out. She then waits for me to catch up. "What's the rush for?" I ask her.
"Well since you wearing your wok clothes, I thought you'd might like to change into some casual clothes," She tells me.
"But Unniti how am I going to pay for it? My credit card is at home and I only have about 20 rupees with me,"
"You don't have to worry, I'll pay for it,"
"But Unniti:-"
"-: no buts Manyata," She interupts. I feel really bad, so I decide to keep a buget of 20 rupees. I've already got jeans on, so all I needed was a top. Then I would be able to pay and wouldn't have to get Unniti to pay for the top instead.
"By the way, do you have any deodrant or perfume on you? I smell like fried chickens," I say, holding my nose at the end.
"I wonder why," Unniti sarcastically says, and then breaks into laughters. I start laughing along with her aw well.
Once we both have calmed down, we head back towards Unniti's car. Unniti then hands me her deodrant, and I spray myself.
"Now I smell much better. Thanks," I thank her.
"It's OK," she replies. "Time to shop now," I nod, and we both make our way into the mall.
