So I read Mouse72's experiment on her swami and decided to repeat on mine... Read her post for reference.

Her post: https://www.indiaforums.com/forum/iss-pyaar-ko-kya-naam-doon/2928429/called-my-hubby-swami

Sample: My husband, Greg (100% Canadian, does not know Hindi)

Difficulty: Language barrier

Experiment 1: I, in my sweatpants and sweatshirt, using hoodie as ghonghat (veil), acting shy, going to my hubby and called him Swami...

Reaction 1:

a. Double take (First time he has seen me looking shy... I'm NEVER shy) ...
b. What the f*&k (Yes, unlike ASR, my hubby completes the sentence)..
c. What the hell is that?

Me (mentally slapping my head, next time hindi lesson first): Not what, who... That would be you... my swami...

Hubby: Why the hell would you call me those weird people who preach about Nirvana?

Me (totally exasperated): No no... Not Nirvana, you moron.. I mean Swami... (Shy again) Swami means husband...

Hubby: Sounds idiotic... Don't call me that and what's with the weird hood on your head? You are freaking me out... More than usual...

Conclusion:

1. Swami sounds idiotic..
2. No one... not even Canadian men without any knowledge of Hindi wants to be called Swami...
3. Me acting shy with hoodie freaks my husband out... Hummm... may be will use it again later...

I tried two more experiments... Link below...

OMG!!! LOL!!! 👏 😆

I think Husbands (no matter what part of the world they might be in would not appreciate being called "swami."

I applaud the CVs for yesterday's episode of IPKKND on behalf of all the wives around the world. You made our day, week, month... Thank you!!!

Tsk, Tsk, Tsk!

You made the cardinal rookie mistake, muh'dear!

First Impressions and all that.

Gotta go full out in the War...er... Traditional Indian Wife regalia:

1. Complete with both arms laden with bangles preventing you from reaching up and smacking your husband upside the head just by sheer weight;

2. Bedecked in heavy gold (brassy) jewelry to properly force your neck down in the appropriately submissive stance;

3. Heavy anklets on feet weighing you down lest you even contemplate reaching for the nearest escape hatch;

4. A heavy brocade Saari to confine all your limbs in proper mummified position;

5. A huge, round 'Bindi' on your forehead, a la B&W movie heroines of yesteryear, to lull your 'Swami' into a hypnotic state as he stares at it at eye-level;

6. And the liberal application of copious amounts of 'sindoor' in your hair partition to enable easier inhalation by your 'Swami', such that it may reach into his brain and cloud his normal thinking process, and the only comment he is liable to make after the coughing fit has subsided is... gasp! cough.. cough!.. MERCY!
