I am more like Muskaan - Drashti Dhami

Tellybuzz in talks with Drashti Dhami

You were last seen in Dill Mill Gayye and Geet Hui Sabse Parayi with two contrasting roles as a bubbly Muskaan and shy Geet, so how is it essaying different characters?
Initially I was scared and nervous to act on television and I feared that I'll never make it up. I used to keep telling my director that it is impossible for me to act on television and urged him to choose someone else other than me since I didn't want to let him down with my acting skills for I believed that I am bad at my work. But gradually I got a hang of it and soon I loved my job.
What kind of a human are you in real life?
I am more like Muskaan of Dill Mill Gayye. I am bubblicious and a happy go lucky person by nature and I would like to stay like one forever.
Do you believe in making rules in your life?
No, I don't like rules at all and if someone imposes rules over me then I won't accept it because I am not a rulebook lover. I live my life the way it should be just like the character of Muskaan of Dill Mill Gayye; I am the same in real life.
Tell us something about your personal life and your journey towards acting?
Well, I did my schooling from Mary Immaculate High School, borivli and graduated in arts from Mithibai College. I wasn't really an academic lover as I still remember that my first day to college was on the day when I collected my hall ticket. I didn't have loads of friends but apparently made loads of them in Dill Mill Gayye. Initially I was doing ads so that was my comfort zone wherein I only had to work for 2 days and earn good money but when I was approached to acting in TV serials I was apprehensive for I had to step out of my comfort zone and work for 25 days nonstop. That's how I got my break in television.
Who is your dream man and how should he be?
The kind of dream man that I am looking for is the one who has a good sense of humour. I don't mind on his looks but should gel with people around me and more importantly should be amicable with me.
Do you have any dream role in Bollywood?
I would like to essay a role which is similar to Kareena Kapoor from the movie Jab We Met and the character Pooja from the movie Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham. I would like to do a role which is similar to my character in real life.
Any worst experience in life that is unforgettable?
I don't regret anything in life for I believe that life teaches you a lesson at every step and anything that happens in life happens for good, so I take it on a positive note. Every good or bad experience is a learning lesson for me.
What would you like to share with your fans?
I never thought that I'll become an actor and I credit this to my fans around the globe. I've realized the fact that whatever I am today in my professional career is due to my fans who love me and I too love them for supporting me and liking my work.
