Today was an episode with two different faces ... one face of merriment, music, comedy, entertainment ... and the other face one of three terrible shocks ...
Let me first praise the fun part of the show. Here's all that I loved about the merry part of the show:
I loved the way Pratik and Paridi enacted all those many many roles of the family members
Those two make a really sweet and fun-loving couple. They first played the part of the Sasur and Saasuma ... the sasurji enactment was not too funny but he way they referred to the saasuma's bulakkad was great!👏 Also the way they played Pankaj and Vidhi was super ... Pankaj was running round begging for romance from Vidhi, while she gave him everything else but what he wanted! That was also good!
The way they played themselves ... as Pratik and Paridi ... was true to their real nature's ... modern, swinging and cool!
How they played the back story of Yash and Aarti brought tears to a lot of eyes there! That part had its shock value, which I'll write about a little later, but the enactment was very good ... especially the part where the red dupatta falls to cover the two of them who were in colourless and white clothes. That was really a nice way of showing their milan.
Waise, Paridi's Dad having his moments, and then Ansh shouting about his Moti Daadi, and the two kids of Vidhi turning up suddenly were all good touches. I was surprised to see that even Mansi had been given a role to play!
Now let's come to the three big shocks ...
Shock No. 1: The tone used by Gayatri with Aarti when returning the kangan was an evil omen of things to come.
Many people have been writing on this forum that Gayatri may be secretly hating Aarti showing any closeness to Yash (probably because there is some back story concerning the way Arpita acted with Yash which Gayatri may not have liked - and she does not want that repeating in the Yash-Aaarti marriage). I remember Samana and Jyoti had written about this possibility.
Today we saw a glimpse of the evil tongue of Gayatri when she lashed out at Aarti for being a besharam running out to meet Yash in secret against the rules of the marriage and without any concern for society's slander. I particularly thought Gayatri was exceptionally rude when she said "Could you not wait for two days to be married properly before doing all this!". That was hitting below the belt. Waise, the strange thing is Aarti need not have said "I went to see Prashanth", but she could have at least said "I went to the mandir and there achanak I saw Yash".
Why was she silent? That is the dynamic, it seems between this saasuma and Aarti for the present. One is talking whatever she likes, the other is listening without even a murmur of protest! This cannot go on, and Aarti will need to learn to speak up!
Shock No. 2: What an unexpected way to bhandaphod the big vidhwa lie to Aarti through the drama being performed!
In the previous episodes there was a hit or miss scene when the Dubeys thought Aarti knew about the big lie while Aaarti was meaning something else when she told them she knows all about it! I thought that was the end of the matter and it would come out only after the shaadi! But the idea to bring it out via this drama being enacted in the sangeet was a superb bit of scriptwriting!
I never expected that this is the way the lie would come to Aarti's awareness ... the rest of the matter then took its expected and appropritae course. Once Aarti knew about it. It was but natural that she will want to come clean with it to the family of Yash.
To take matters even faster, however, the minute Aarti decided that this lie is too big to hide and the other family should know, there was Yash standing right in her path! That was also unexpected for me, because I thought that lie being broken by Aarti would go first to the ears of Gayatri. Anyway it now is a good thing that Yash is the first to hear of it from Aarti ... but here comes the next shock ...
Shock No. 3: The whole scene of Aarti telling Yash about the lie was mute!
Oh God, now what are we all to do over the weekend? We are going to stew wondering what exactly she said!
To make matters complicated, Yash has also once said that he hates lies. Now my question is: will Yash treat this as a lie that was hidden from his family (and so will he be very angry with Aarti and the Dubeys) ... or will he treat it as Aarti telling the truth to him at great cost to her own marriage (and will he feel very grateful to Aarti for doing that?)
Again in previous episodes many of us in the forum were writing that at least Yash should come to know the truth from Aarti about this vidhwa vs talaaqshuda lie, and then most probably Yash will say it does not matter to him and then he may support Aarti when the family went against her on this issue.
Maybe our predictions that he will get to know, and that he will then support Aarti may come true. I hope so. If Yash is able to rise above this talaaq background of Aarti and say "It does not matter to me, let's go ahead with the marriage" I will really respect him hundred times over.
But another question needs to be asked here: What will Yash do once he knows the lie?
a. If Yash accepts that Aarti being a divorcee is OK by him, would he agree or decide to tell a lie to his family about it (that is, by keeping the truth from them?) If he hates lies he will not want to participate in a further lie to his family, I think. Once he knows that the family thinks she is a vidhwa, but she is not really one, can he keep the secret from his family? Would that not be compounding the lie?
b. And once Yash decides to tell the family so that he does not continue the lie, what argument will he use?
Would he take the matter up with his parents and say "Even if she is a divorcee, I will go ahead and marry her, because her background does not matter to me?" Or would he use the Arpita handle saying to his parents "I don't care what Aarti's background is, she is the one chosen for me by Arpita"?
Which route Yash takes will be interesting. It will say a lot about the character of Yash!
