Ok. since we have all been filled with angst in recent days (including yours truly), I thought some clarification was in order.

Can we criticize a character?

for example, I have been critical of many of Indira and Rishi's actions. I have penned many posts presenting my analysis of characters, their drawbacks etc. But I have had nasty experiences with certain forum members where critique of a character, is taken as critique of the actor portraying the character and all manner of feathers got ruffled, and dirty underbelly of this forum got exposed.

This has been a unique experience for me as I am used to fan communities where not just character is criticized, but also the much loved actor's acting.

So when we criticize Indira, am I criticizing Rati? When I am criticizing Rishi, am I criticizing Sumit. Is Rati Indira and Indira Rati? Is Rishi Sumit and Sumit Rishi?

I am leaving out that right to criticize the actor because of tense atmosphere of the forum. SV gets criticized even by his admirers ( just look at the chemistry posts today). But one day I want the same to apply to Rati, Mrunal etc. But am not asking for it today. That day is far into the future.

sorry but we are no one to decide if it should be allowed or not...it will be according to rules
it's about IF COC...and it allowed criticisms...
if u r criticising indira or rishi because of the acting issues...yes than you are criticizing rati and sumit...because their profession is acting...other than this...everything you talk about the show is about fictional characters and not about sumit and rati...😊

and about indira---- please the char even got bashed by so many here...and without no specific and valid reasons ...and a word wasn;t said...now what more are you expecting ???...and i know how many criticizing topics are accepted on rishi...because i have myself experienced...and about mrunal...u dint mentioned sameer...so let me tell u...u can just comment on mrunal's acting...and u can't bash him as a person...ya u can go dislike comments in mrunal profile...that's what some are already doing...😊

Yed you can critisize the characters as long as you have valid points for your POV.

Appreciating/Criticizing the character or the flow the story line with proper reasoning is the part of the discussion. And I am sure even the CV's would appreciate that as it will be a constructive feed back to their creativity. And definitely an actor in person is neither the character he/she is portraying nor it questions his/her acting capability.

Moreover, I personally feel we as an audience are no one to judge any one's acting capabilities. If we love/hate a particular character based on his/her action-reaction in the story narrated on-screen then it proves that actor was capable to portray the character well.

Now, if some group of people don't understand these differences it's no point in arguing with them. Because it will just add to counter-arguments and nothing more.

@TM: Buddy i have told u innumerable times dat ur very valid and logical line of thought will not be understood/deliberately ignored/twisted around coz people in dis forum just do not want to get d distinction between a character in a daily soap and d actor enacting d character. Brecht sir ka alienation effect/affect gone down d drain. Hahaha. @Nels: I got bhawuk reading ur post in dis poll and ur PM. I have vented it all out. Hehehe. Check ur inbox. Padh lena. Take care. :D
