Just as Bollywood actors hope to get a break in Hollywood, the West too appears to be taking a keen interest in the Hindi film industry.

So, we have Robert DeNiro's daughter Drena producing and acting in a film that stars Sushmita Sen, Deepal Shaw, Randeep Hooda, Rati Agnihotri, Suresh Oberoi and Naomi Campbell!

Karma, Confessions And Holi, which will be out in October this year, was shot in New York last year. Deepal Shaw, known more for her music videos than her film roles, gives us a sneak peak...

Karma, Confessions and Holi is a light-hearted, humorous film about a group of people who confess about their lives at a party during Holi. Each confession is a flashback.

There are six couples in the film. I play Preeti, accused of having an affair with a 16-year old boy. She doesn't know the difference between being the best and trying to be the best. But she thinks she's the best. She is always over-dressed, so her character is very humorous. She is also very outrageous. In fact, even in real life, I fell in love with a guy a year younger. But I am not apologetic; I don't regret anything.

This is an English film, but it may be dubbed in Hindi for India. Apart from Indian and American actors, there is an Iranian actor too. But the soul of the film is Indian. It has a very traditional look and has been made for the American audience. We were in New York for a month and a half. It has been produced by both Rapture productions (Drena's company) and Saregama-HMV. I was the first actor to be approached for a role through HMV, as they know me since Kabhi Aar Kabhi Paar. There is only one song in the film -- a Holi song. Drena (top, left) enjoyed playing with the Holi colours. Indian culture has penetrated so much into America that she knew about the festival. As a producer, she was very responsible even while looking after her two-year old son, Lee. She has put together a galaxy of stars. I won't call myself a star, but the others are. The way she handled everything was mind-boggling. She looked after and pampered every actor.

We were once invited to lunch by Robert DeNiro but, because of our tight schedule, we couldn't go.

I like Naomi Campbell. She proved that being dark is not a drawback. It inspired me, as I am dark too. She is like a queen. You just want to look at her. She stands out anywhere. The minute she enters the room, you know. The media has portrayed her wrongly. She does not have any attitude problem. She was very supportive, and didn't have problems with anyone.

On the sets, people would stare at me because of my dusky skin. Since there are few dark women there, I stood out. I got a lot of attention.

Sushmita was like an elder sister to me. She was very affectionate and has a child-like innocence. She would check my make-up. When I was young, I always wanted to be as tall as Sushmita. Most of my scenes are with Sushmita and Drena.

I am also doing a film called Tumse with Irrfan, were I play three different roles. It is about how love ceases to be pleasurable when it is no longer a secret. It is a sensitive film on how people react in different situations and then repent.
