Ties that bind
"Greedy, evil, scheming, loud and brash". These are the words that actor Usha Nadkarni chooses to describe her on-screen character of Savita Deshmukh in the television serial, Pavitra Rishta. But for Nadkarni, the similarities end on screen. She was in the city on Thursday to promote the show and to also partake in Gudi Padwa celebrations today. Accompanying her are Shruti Kanwar and Mrunalini Tyagi, who play her on-screen grand-daughters. "We will be showing a one-hour special episode of the serial today. And my character will be at her scheming best when she learns that her son Maanav (played by Hiten Tejwani) is staying with his wife, Archana (played by Ankita Lonkar), in India," says Deshmukh. In addition, the episode will also showcase the twists that accompany the characters of Tyagi and Kanwar. "The truth about my mother as well as the fact that I have secretly come to India will be shown during the episode. With the background of Gudi Padwa celebrations, my on-screen sister's engagement will also be called off, which will form the crux of the story for the upcoming weeks," says Tyagi.
