We got hooked on to this show for different reasons and our love for it brings us here on IF. All fans think their favorite show is the best; their leads are the best and wish for the success of the show. When IPKKND started some began as Barun fans, some as Sanaya fans, and some just came across it while flipping channels and the show was recommended to some...but most of us ended up loving Arhi / Sarun. IPKKND has been the best for us from the time it came on air.
The show began with a promise, we loved it for own reasons but the trps were average for months. Fans more or less accepted this fact as the rulers of the trps charts are mostly saas bahu sagas and IPKKND faced tough competition due to the time slot. We were happy when our show was at the top 20, we were elated when it reached the top ten, ecstatic when it became the slot leader and now our show is at the top three and has consistently remained at the top five for quite some time.
With its uniqueness, IPKKND made its mark.
With success come a lot of things, criticisms, rumors are a part of it.
We have come across lots negative comments, criticisms, baseless rumors, bashing etc here on IF, FB, and even a baseless article in the last few days.
As fans many of us may think that our opinions don't count, what we do say on forums and social networking sites doesn't matter...but it actually does have some kind of impact. Noreen Khan's show is an example.
Our show had many ups and downs, inconsistencies but it maintained its position on the trp charts and online because of the love the fans have for this show and the leads.
Lately there has been lots of negativity, particularly after IPK won so many awards at SPA and after that Barun won at GIFTH. Barun was interviewed on the BBC Asia Network and hopefully Sanaya will be there as well. An HT Brunch article came out where a well known film critic listed Sarun as people to watch out for in 2012. This show, its leads are BIG !! They have managed to grab eyeballs.
But then we see all kinds of weird comments...people bashing them, making issue out of their statements and gestures, spreading rumors, questioning their friendship and comparing the two. If non-fans do it, I understand, but if people claiming to be the fans of the show do it. It's disappointing.
What makes it worse is the unnecessary discussion regarding certain issues. While bashing needs to be dealt with, sometimes ignoring helps too. Discussing a rumor often helps it spread more. When a baseless article or report comes out, spamming their inbox and FB pages help but sometimes not paying attention to it does the trick.
It all depends on the situation'I guess there is no right way or wrong way to deal with it. But I feel it's unnecessary to put everything under the microscope. Looking too much into everything will only complicate things.
Showing a little maturity and restraint always helps.
Do we really need to analyze every off-screen activity of our leads the way we discuss scenes, analyze symbolism and let our imagination run wild?
If we are fans of the show, then we must love our leads as well. It's not necessary that everyone has to like Barun or Sanaya equally. But it's their show. They make Arhi real for us. We can't acknowledge one without acknowledging the other. If we do then we are just fooling ourselves.
The highlight of the show is Arhi chemistry and Sarun together creates the magic on screen. If other actor's were cast as Arnav or Khushi, the characters would have remained but Arhi would not have been the same.
Arhi works because Sanaya and Barun complement each other. But we can't overlook their individual efforts and performances. One of the leads can be praised without bringing down the other.
More importantly, all these negativity does not do any good. If any of us is strictly a fan or Sanaya or strictly Barun, shouldn't we want the best for their show, respect their personal and professional lives?
