I understand/support Sandhya's POV

Today's episode was difficult to watch wasnt it?

I've read several valid, sensible, coherent and logical posts on Sandhya's prickly words today...And a few people just wanted to beat some sense into her for rejecting hunky PLUS sensitive Sooraj!!!! 😆...

What more could a girl want, right?

I beg to differ with the majority of viewpoints but I disagree :
Sandhya is perfectly right to express herself and expect the best out of her life, personally or professionally...( Ofcourse I understand Sooraj's POV too but he seems to have plenty of supporters 😉)

Point1

Sandhya was never the classic play with dolls/ frilly pink dresses type (though there is absolutely nothing wrong in liking dolls/pretty dresses)...She probably will never be the type to be completely fulfilled being a homemaker, not to mention she was only barely mentally prepared to be married...Again, there is nothing wrong being a housewife but some women ( and some men) have personalities that genuinely enjoy creating a home/ creative cooking/ interior design etc... But Sandhya has a God given ability and desire to do something different... If Bhabho, Sooraj, the community or even she herself forces her to change her basic nature, it would never work in the longterm... How long can an eagle pretend that she's happy being a chicken and lose the chance to ever spread her wings and fly high? (again, please note: nothing wrong with being a chicken !😊)

Point 2

I know DABH is not real life but can any of you middle class graduate girls imagine being married off woh bhi dhoke se to the local sabziwala/ dhobi / etc?
I didnt think so!

Of course, being educated has nothing to do with being goodnatured...But I think it's important to respect your husband...Even though Sandhya says in every other episode "Mein inki bahut izzat karti hoon", I find it difficult to come to terms with...I echo Sandhya's friend Preethi's speech to Bhabho...Only "Mahaan" Sandhya never thought like that because I (and I'm sure much of the audience) certainly did! Maybe in time, Sandhya will realise that Sooraj is what she needs and wants despite their differences but give her TIME please !!!

Point 3

There is absolutely no privacy in that family...Everyone's noses are in each others business...Even if Sandhya ever thought of experimenting with Sooraj just out of curiosity/boredom, the recent "Paapad in Palank Fun Rathi Family Circus Event " must have killed every possibilty...Does forcing the issue improve matters?

Might I just say I really enjoyed reading most of the forum members' posts (except the "consummation NOW" ones 🤢)...The above is just my POV so feel free to agree/disagree 😃

Sandhya's character has been dealt with very badly. There is no consistency whatsoever.

Speaking of her dream of becoming an IPS officer...the personality she projects in situations she comes across is absolutely unfit for a police officer who would actually have to deal with worse characters than a halwaai family.

Sandhya's reservation about things and taking time to adapt..and basically all her issues could have been explained had the CVs kept track of her mental state/transformations. It's not unreasonable for her to be acting irrationally in a situation she's been forced into soon after losing her parents...but they should have shown her struggling with that. Instead, we get to see Sandhya just standing there with her mouth open and eyes dazed. Very uncharacteristic of the strong and ambitious girl she was claimed to be.

What hurts is that it could have been such a good story, but they've completely lost track and any sense of rationality.

i think it's also difficult to understand sandhya's reservation about Suraj because they haven't shown her see him as an inferior. She never looked at him as if he's gross for being a halwai..he's not her equal and all that. Given the amount of time they've spent together and what all Suraj has done for her, any normal person would have started to be attracted to the other person, unless they can't get over the "he's inferior" issue...or if she finds him unattractive. But Anas is too attractive to make it believable :p

basically, they should share more of Sandhya's thoughts...bc after all, it is HER JOURNEY that we're talking about.. and portrayal is dangerous ambiguous lately.

In red: I agree with you sunshyneluv (BTW, how cyoote is your username 😊) in that Sandhya's character sketch has been woefully thin hence her reasonable in the circumstances outburst seems like an unreasonable out-of-the-blue rant...A few inner monologues could have been shown to explain her state of mind would've prepared me...Maybe Cousin Keerti's "Wash his back! and now rub harder" instructions irritated Sandhya as much as it irritated me...Couldnt she have just washed her own hubby's back without "managing' the Sooraj-Sandhya duo?😕

However,I have a different take on the blue bit... Sandhya cannot deal with her own family with her IPS officer hat on...At work, it would be her job to deal with such characters differently because she in a position of authority to do so but at home, she occupies a different role... I suspect even Obama gets told off by his wife if he left dirty socks on the oval office floor 😛 😆

Totally agree...She respects him, however that does not equal she thinks they are on the same level... Given the choice of having a lesser educated but loving husband who respects me versus a "choudvi pass" who didnt, I'd take the 1st option in hindsight...However if my younger self was presented with the same choice, I'd be in dharamsankat 😃...Thankfully,Sandhya seems awfully clever and sensible...She'll cotton on to the fact after a while (or when TRPs decline 😊)...Or maybe seeing Preethi's well-educated lawyer husband turns out to be a cheating jerk in addition to being dishonest may convert Sandy? I'd rather she realised it all by herself though...😊

And yes, Anas is rather easy on the eyes, isnt he 😃...I would have thought that Sandhya would have gradually been more comfortable with him, maybe, if this paapad belna issue wouldnt have reared its ugly head, even if it was in a spirit of scientific curiosity😛...But this forced manipulation by bhabho, duty, holi ,cousin keerti etc would have anyone fighting against it...

I don't hink anyone is upset with Sandhya due to the lack of homemaking skills she possesses...rather it was the rude behavior towards Suraj she exhibited today that personally got my feathers ruffled. Forget about looks...although that helps...the guy is sweet enough to give anyone diabetes.
Yes she didn't grow up playing with dolls and waiting for prince charming...but she did marry the guy...did she think her husband would never expect her to consummate this marriage? Would she have done so by now if Suraj was educated? She says she has compromised with her situation in life, but she's lying to herself and the audience.

Point 2

Being educated...you're right...I couldn't imagine myself being married to the local anything, with or without dhoka 😆. If it had been a dhoka, my reaction probably would have been the same as Sandhya's on SR.
Having said that...if I had gotten a halvaii...and that too as charming, caring and patient as Suraj...I swear, I honestly would have gotten over it long ago. 😆 Suraj has never forced herself on her...but this girl doesn't even let him touch her shadow...ouch! Ouch

This I agree with you 100%.
But remember...the papd scene was hard not only on Sandhya, but Suraj too. She ran out of the room, but Suraj had to face his family and answer his mother on such a private matter...EEEKKK! How uncomfortable was that? 😕 But he answered everyone and defended Sandhya in such a noble manner...and she had no reaction to give him...😲
If Sandhya was really respected Suraj and was sincere with him she would have atleast tried to move in the right direction...I mean no rush...after all he's giving you all the time you need. Even offered to set her free. But this girl is confusing poor Suraj...on the one hand she doesn't choose freedom and go with her brother...agrees to do the bathing rasam...but then lashes out at Suraj for choices she made under pressure of people other than him...so not fair 🥺

Thanks a lot ummeslaiman for the lovely and detailed reply😊...I really enjoyed reading it... I do agree with you and I always did sigh soulfully at sweetums Sooraj's lot in life: the lazy pater, the screeching mother, the lying thieving siblings and now the shrewish wife...poor guy ...However the universal support in the forum for our hunky handsome + good as gold + patience of a saint + balancing act which would put a tightrope walker to shame had me wanting to balance out the opinions a leeetle bit with Sandhya's POV too😊 ...I'm in green below:

the point here is, sandhya respects suraj, but doesnt love him yet... or might be she doesnt realize that she is falling in love with him slowly...
all the papad on bed circus done by bhabo made sandhya think on those things between a husband n wife, and also the suhaag raat words of that new girl during snan rasam...she is definitely not prepared for all tht right now... but she is scared that one day she might have to go thru all those... whenevr she thinks of those she cannot handle it n in that scaredness she told suraj tht she cannot giv him any happiness... bcz she has never thought abt it till now... i think sandhya has expressed herself well...
Its not necessary for her to fall in love with Suraj so soon [we know he is good, but she needs time to realize it], or forcefully accept tht she is in love... u cannot love everyone who helps you n are good to you in your life as a life partner... it might take one look for someone to love and for other some months and for remaining years...

Your explanation paints Sandhya in a much more sympathetic, noble and likeable colour...And since she is pretty idealistic, I think you are right about the real reason for Sandhya's stand...Rubbing her nose in the fact that she is not doing her "duty" freaked her out and hence the outburst...

You have expressed Sandhya's feelings well. Added to that, until the point she achieves her goal/dream of becoming IPS officer, she cannot commit herself to marriage, love, family, etc.
