I am mentioning a statutory that I don't intend to hurt anyone with this post. It is just a strong opinion I want to share with all you fellow-D3 lovers. So if I do happen to unintentionally hurt anyone, I apologize beforehand.
The thing is, my mom watches a show called "Kuch toh log kahenge" on Sony. Recently, that show also faced a similar crunch as D3. Here, the male lead had to be replaced abruptly, at very short notice, owing to health reasons. And the production house did it as silently as possible, without making any heartbreaking pre-interviews. Just one introductory press conference... and then, the siggies were replaced. Therefore began a fresh week's episode with a fresh face, with a beginning notice that "Henceforth, Dr. Ashutosh will be played by Sharad Kelkar instead of Mohnish Behl." And that was that.
Yes, there had been the initial upheaval...AND the anticipatory dissatisfaction in some... but now, within a couple of episodes, most people have begun liking [some even preferring] Sharad Kelkar as Dr. Ashutosh! And why not... he's a fine actor, looks hot, has such a deep voice, intense eyes... why wont anyone accept him?
Yes, many do miss Mohnish Behl as well... but then, who can you blame? MB had genuine health issues...and the production house did their job the best they could... enabling continuity to the story by replacing the character instead of finishing it off totally!
The point I am trying to make is, why cant D3 CV's follow a similar approach?
Yes, Shakti will be missed tremendously. She has been, and shall forever remain the face for "Kriya". But if we just holistically pick D3 as a show once... is it fair to completely chop off a lead character from the trunk, that still had a fair portion of story to tell... and introduce a totally new person?
Look, the CV's must know... we have nothing against a fresh girl being cast. We are not unreasonable 8-year olds, and do not blame the production house in anyway if Shakti has made a personal decision to move on. In fact, I quite admire Palki for being gracious enough to not desperately hold her back over a contract. They have tried their best to give Shakti a set of options, but she wanted other things, so she made her choice. Fair [or unfair], what had to happen...has.
But why cant another girl who can dance and act, be cast again as Kriya [and not XYZ]...for the sake of continuity and sense? There are so many excellent and abundantly talented dancers coming up every season... where is the dearth?
I know, and completely agree that the ArSha chemistry will be very hard to create again... might be close to impossible also. But at least KriyaAnsh will still exist. And in the process, we might get to watch some fresh intriguing chemistry that we had never imagined.
Rey and Kriya had just begun dude...what happened?
Shakti shall forever remain "the" Kriya... but look at Ridhima from DMG as an example.
I adored Shilpa as Ridz. But when Sukriti replaced her, it didn't seem to be a bad choice at all... she fit in well. Because even if there was no Shilpa... the essence of Ridhima still remained, right? And Jennifer Winget toh created her own tremendous following eventually!
All the 3 Ridhimas were not only accepted, but loved also.
I just wish they'd give "Kriya" another chance, instead of putting her completely off air. That's all.
