So Rafi made a rant post about the scene today, and Nandini, you made an ambivalent one?! 😆
I'm part of the happy gang - Nur, Ramy... anyone else? I loved the scene. Really. It just flowed for me, touched me like the classic SwaRon stuff always does, got me thinking. Everything about today's scene for me came round full circle. It's like shifting the coordinate system so that the 0,0 point becomes 0',0' - like you're at the starting coordinates again, only your entire reference plane has been shifted with respect to the original - so that, figuratively speaking, you've started fresh, in a sense, without dismissing the history you made. You've just assimilated both in the same time, with a space shift.
Damn - did that make sense? Math is not my thing, AT ALL - but tonight was like that for me. I love that in this coming round full circle scene, Swayam was the one talking. Sharon listening. Swayam guessing - Sharon surprised, and more muted than not. And the confidence Swayam had about his conjectures, was something like Sharon's conjectures from the past where she thought she knew exactly what Swayam's next reaction would be - which usually involved indulging her in some way or the other - and yet, on a certain level, just like Sharon would miss the exact depth and intention of Swayam's indulging gestures, Swayam missed Sharon's start of a change today. He did not necessarily read her actions or predict the reasons wrong - but he missed the shift in her intention. Her thank you - was not like the sorry that had been spoken in the epic scene on this same staircase weeks ago. It wasn't just Sharon's exceptional moment of actually letting on a side to herself which isn't mean. No - this thank you was an acceptance on her part at a deeper level. She has accepted not just that he helped her, and not just that she accepted his help - but is almost willing to accept such a role from him in a continued sense. No, she would never be the person who'd WANT to be in spots where she needs help - from anyone at all! But... she is starting to ease up with the idea of Swayam coming to her aid, entering that space in her life where she can show the need for help, if and when... That acceptance on her part is much deeper and greater, than her sorry had been in the previous staircase scene. This is not just an instance of the rarely civil Sharon. This is a visible unveiling of Sharon, as the person she truly is beneath all the layers she has built up and held for herself.
And that, I think, Swayam missed today. Not that one can blame him. But he did. Just like Sharon would miss the profound nature of Swayam taking her tantrums in all the past times. For a while she passed him off for a smitten fan. Then, she passed him off as someone who knew her more, and someone who certainly showed more substance and mettle beyond just a smitten fan - yet, someone, who could not really come to be at par with her. No matter what. And somewhere, the fact that she accepted he was beyond a usual fan, made her want to bait him more often than she would a regular someone - but the fact that she didn't see HOW deep he ran beneath the appeasing ways never really allowed her to accept an equal in him... upto now.
It was a scene of transition. It marked an end. And it marked a beginning. While I agree with your take on the scene and its emotions at large Nandini, I don't really see a stalemate anywhere. Yes, they probably need a catalyst kind of next kick. But somewhere, Sharon is going to become instrumental in the coming days in terms in initiation - today marked a beginning to that. It's not so simple to dis-armor her entirely, in a go, but it's started off today... And I think given the promo of the girls in guise - however they get to that situation - there will be situations between SwaRon, where Swayam will manage to see beyond what he saw today. Beyond what Sharon's spoken thank you could claim...
A good start to the week - hopefully, to be followed on in the same stride...
